Richardson, Texas, United States
33k$ OBO1974 Toyota Land cruiser FJ40 Frame off Restoration. Body off. RestoMod. Motor Swap. Restored. Crate Motor. 15k miles. Fuel injected. All new electrical. This is an amazing Toyota Land cruiser FJ40, it looks great, its dialed in mechanically and drives wonderfully. With its fuel injected crate motor it will crawl or cruise (well) over highway speeds. I drive it often up and down the highway to work or out on the town. It tracks straight, brakes perfectly (all wheel are disc), shifts smooth and has no slack in the steering. The Land cruiser has a pronounced sound, with a nice deep growl produced by the crate 350 with headers and true dual side pipes. It is tagged, titled and inspected. All lights, electrical and gauges work too. The truck has 15,000 miles since its nut and bolt restoration. The FJ has had a number of modifications and improvements over the years, in multiple phases. It began years ago as a frame off project from the ground up. All components were new or improved. The frame was sand blasted and epoxy painted. Suspension, bushings and body mounts replaces. The drive train was imported using a crate Chevrolet chevy 350, using an edelbrock fuel injection system. The transfer case and 4 speed transmission are rebuilt Toyota OEM, I’ve honestly never had components shift so smooth and easy, the transfercase glides in (most you have to double pump clutch and man handle it into 4wd). Also Seats, gauges, dash, etc all new… The paint and body work has just been completed, no rust or damage. The autometer gauges set on stainless steel dash operates perfectly. All the electrical has been replaced using painless wiring system, the ignition is a push to start, hidden in the tuffy’s locking console. Toyota Tells Dealers To Stop Selling Six Models
Thu, Jan 30 2014Toyota has told North American dealers to stop selling six popular models with heated seats because the fabric doesn't meet flammability standards. One soft material beneath the seat covers does not comply with U.S. safety standards, company spokesman John Hanson said. No fires or injuries have been reported, but Toyota can't legally sell cars that don't comply with U.S. safety codes, Hanson said. The company is still totaling how many vehicles are affected, but it will be in the thousands, according to the spokesman. The stop-sale order could mean trouble for Toyota and its dealers because it covers the company's top-selling vehicles. Dealers can no longer sell certain Camry, Avalon, Sienna and Tacoma models from the 2013 and 2014 model years, as well as Corollas and Tundras from 2014. The Camry, for instance, is the top-selling car in the U.S. with more than 408,000 sales last year. It depends on how long the repairs will take. Hanson said the company already has a new material that's being installed at factories and will be put in cars that are on dealer lots. "We don't think it will take long to get the parts and make the changes," Hanson said, without getting more specific. As for vehicles already on the road, Hanson says Toyota has reported the problem to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which will decide if the sold vehicles should be recalled. A NHTSA spokesman said he would check into the matter. "We don't believe that there is a safety issue here because there have been no reports of any problems," Hanson said. The stop-sale order affects cars and trucks distributed to dealers in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. In addition, some vehicles were exported outside North America, Hanson said. The problem was discovered by safety regulators in South Korea, who disassembled seats and tested individual fabrics, Hanson said. U.S. safety standards require fabrics to resist flames at a certain rate, but the one fabric didn't meet the standard, Hanson said. Toyota spokesman Naoki Sumino in Japan said the affected vehicles were sold since August of 2012, when the fabric supplier was changed. Toyota has been struggling to regain its once sterling reputation for quality after announcing massive recalls over several years, starting in 2009, for a variety of defects including braking, accelerators and floor mats. The company was fined for being slow on recalls, which affected more than 14 million vehicles, and faces lawsuits.
This 1,000-horsepower, rear-drive Toyota Corolla iM could be yours
Tue, Feb 19 2019We were amazed last year when we learned that Papadakis Racing built Fredric Aasbo a rear-drive, 1,000-horsepower 2017 Toyota Corolla iM for drifting. Now we're amazed that the car could end up in the hands of an average person, because the car is currently going for auction on Bring A Trailer. Just as a quick recap for those that might have missed hearing about the car last year, the little Toyota hatch features a turbocharged and nitrous-injected 2.7-liter 2AR-series Toyota four-cylinder. Variants of that engine are found in older Toyota RAV4s and Camrys. According to Bring A Trailer, the engine hits 1,000 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque when running on E85. Power goes through a four-speed dog box manual transmission to the rear wheels. Now there is the question of what you would do with such a mad machine. One possibility is to run it again in the Formula Drift series the car was built for. Bring A Trailer reports that it should be legal for the 2019 season, and with extra parts and wheels, you would be in a good spot to get started. The seller does note that all the graphics and sponsor decals would have to be removed if it's entered again. Even if you didn't run it in a professional drift series, it would probably be a fun car to use in more grassroots drift events or even just as a track car of some sort. There's also one more potential option that would be totally absurd. You see, it appears Papdakis Racing started with a factory-built, street legal Corolla iM that could have easily gone on to see a life of ferrying a young couple or family around in efficient, affordable style. As such, it should have a VIN that could be used to register and insure the car without too much trouble. It even still has functional lights. As long as you're in a state that doesn't have modification or emissions restrictions, it could be possible to make this a street car. Now we're not positive on this, so do your due diligence before plunking down cash for it, but it does seem possible, and it would be crazy and awesome. Related Video:
