1973 Toyota Land Cruiser Fj40 All Original Runs Great 2nd Owner on 2040-cars
Pocatello, Idaho, United States
1973 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser 3 Speed Transmission & Transfer Case Awesome Farm Find Hello, and welcome to my FJ40 auction. I am the third owner of this vehicle. I bought this FJ40 from an irrigation salesman who purchased it from a farmer in Oakley Idaho. He only had the vehicle for a couple of months and then sold it to me. It has always run well, but I have had to do some work to her to get her on the road and legal again. This Land Cruiser is in excellent condition and has not been changed much from the day it rolled off of the lot. It still has all of the smog and emissions set-up intact and it even has the original radio. The body is very clean, the suspension is excellent, and the vehicle has been in use since 1973. This is one of the rare FJ40s you will find that has never sat for a long period of time. The farmers took the rear seats out and and the tire carrier off to make a pipe carrying device on the FJ40. The rear seats are missing but I do have the rear hitch for the vehicle. Here is a list of the original OEM parts on this vehicle: The 3 speed transmission engine, and transfer case are all stock. The entire body, frame, axles, etc. are stock with no aftermarket parts. The interior is all original including all of the switches, lights, and all four seats The radio, knobs, seats, front heater are OEM and original to the vehicle. The doors and hatch are all original and in excellent condition. The front and back doors are entirely rust free, and are very nice The paint on this vehicle is also original. The previous owners would shoot a little primer on the rig when it got a chip in the paint to keep it from rusting. It definitely worked, and you will be stunned by how clean this rig is. You can see that most of this vehicle is stock and in great condition. The brakes have been completely redone and the engine has had a tune-up. The seals, steering, tie rods, etc. have all been greased. The 4x4 has been tested and greased as well. This rig is ready to go on the trail now. I must say that every time I work on this rig I am just amazed at how clean it is still. Farmerations: This vehicle was used for farm use, so it has been farmarized in a few ways. First, when I got the vehicle I had to cut the crazy pipe carrying unit off of it. Second, the farmer has done a little welding work on the vehicle. There are three nicely welded patches on the vehicle. The first one is on the tranny hump, the second is a small patch on the wheel well, and the third is where the tire carrier attaches to the body. Third, the overflow tank is not OEM, it is an antifreeze bottle. I have been rocking it for months and it works great by the way. Fourth, the rear heater is custom made and works better than any FJ40 heater ever made. It has its own fan and a newer heater core that pumps out the heat. You will not get cold with this thing on. Fifth, the passenger side door has an awesome pipe door handle. Sixth, I have left some of the bullets and beer tabs in this rig to add to the ambiance. I have eleven FJ40s at the moment and this is the one that everyone wants to drive and ride in. The rubber is in excellent shape and everything is straight and clean, so the ride is really smooth and quiet. The engine just purrs and is a torque machine. This thing is trail ready and a blast to drive. This is probably the best FJ40 project car I have ever had, I just have too many at the moment. This one hurts a little to sell because it is so straight and mostly rust free. The doors are in great shape and the hatch actually works. This vehicle also still has all of the original factory stickers and emblems. I do have the two rear emblems for this vehicle, that are not photoed in the auction, but they will be included. This FJ40 would be an ideal restore project, daily driver, or hunting rig. It does have a little rust but it is minimal for an FJ40. This Cruiser has not been modified at all and is all original. The vehicle is fully functional and trail ready. The only things that do not work on the vehicle are the speedometer, and the turn signals. I had the turn signals working but there is a ground problem that I do not have time to fix. It would be a really easy fix though. I have a video on Youtube that shows the car running, shifting, driving, and a complete walkthrough. You need to view this video to appreciate the power and beauty of this FJ40. I can also store the vehicle for 30 days once payment is made if you need time to arrange shipment. You will need to pay me $100.00 a month to store it any longer than that. Payment must be made within one week of auction ending. Thanks for looking and have a wonderful day:) |

Is 120 miles just about perfect for EV range?
Tue, Apr 15 2014When it comes to battery-electric vehicles, our friend Brad Berman over at Plug In Cars says 40 miles makes all the difference in the world. That's the approximate difference in single-charge range between the battery-electric version of the Toyota RAV4 and the Nissan Leaf. It's also the difference between the appearance or disappearance of range anxiety. The 50-percent battery increase has zapped any lingering range anxiety, Berman writes. The RAV4 EV possesses a 40-kilowatt-hour pack, compared to the 24-kWh pack in the Leaf. After factoring in differences in size, weight and other issues, that means the compact SUV gets about 120 miles on a single charge in realistic driving conditions, compared to about 80 miles in the Leaf. "The 50 percent increase in battery size from Leaf to RAV has zapped any lingering range anxiety," Berman writes. His observations further feed the notion that drivers need substantial backup juice in order to feel comfortable driving EVs. Late last year, the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS), along with the Consumers Union estimated that about 42 percent of US households could drive plug-in vehicles with "little or no change" in their driving habits, and that almost 70 percent of US commuters drive fewer than 60 miles per weekday. That would imply that a substantial swath of the country should be comfortable using a car like the Leaf as their daily driver - with first-quarter Leaf sales jumping 46 percent from a year before, more Americans certainly are. Still, the implication here is that EV sales will continue to be on the margins until an automaker steps up battery capabilities to 120 or so miles while keeping the price in the $30,000 range. Think that's a reasonable goal to shoot for?
New Forza 6 car pack will let you race the Pontiac Aztek
Fri, Jan 29 2016Just in time for this weekend's Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, the new Alpinestars Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 6 on the Xbox One lets you slip into the driver's seat of last year's winner. If you want to take something much weirder for a spin, the collection also includes a 2005 Pontiac Aztek. The download is available now for $6.99. The Ford #02 Chip Ganassi Racing Riley Mk XXVI Daytona was in a four-car battle early in last year's race, but it eventually was victorious. Forza Motorsport 6 also challenges drivers who download the car to a new Rivals event around Daytona, and the fastest people could win Alpinestars prizes. If you're nostalgic for a classic Daytona racecar, this pack includes Mercury #15 Whistler Radar Cougar XR-7. The V8-powered beast won the IMSA GTO class in the 24-hour event in 1990. It should be fun around the game's longer road courses like Road Atlanta. This collection also has an eclectic mix of vehicles that aren't racecars. The controversial Aztek and the equally-controversial 1996 Subaru SVX take their places beside a lineup that offers drivers three eras of performance cars – a 1967 Sunbeam Tiger, 1974 Toyota Corolla SR5, and 1992 Alfa Romeo Milano Quadrifoglio Verde. The video below shows all of them in action. Race to the Finish Line with the Alpinestars Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 6 By Xbox Wire Staff posted on January 27, 2016 at 8:00 am With the racing season set to kick into full gear during this weekend's Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona race, Forza fans now have a chance to get their own taste of endurance racing glory with the Alpinestars Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 6, available on Thursday, Jan. 28. Leading off the pack of seven cars is last year's 24 Hours of Daytona winner, the 2015 Ford #02 Chip Ganassi Racing Riley Mk XXVI Daytona Prototype. The prototype will be fielded in this weekend's race, which begins at 2 p.m. EST on Saturday, Jan. 30 and can be viewed live on Fox Sports 1 in the U.S. The Alpinestars Car Pack features six additional cars, each with a unique pedigree all its own. From the 1990 Mercury #15 Whistler Radar Cougar XR-7 – also a competitor in Daytona 24 Hour events of years past – to the inimitable 2005 Pontiac Aztek (famous more for its fictional owner than its performance), this pack has something for every kind of car fan. Forza Motorsport 6 is the only game where players can drive last year's Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona winner on the recently remodeled Daytona International Speedway.
Toyota projecting record profits, thanks in part to weak yen
Fri, Feb 6 2015Toyota retained its global sales crown in 2014 by selling 10.23 million cars in the calendar year. As the positive number might suggest, the Japanese automaker is doing extremely well financially, too. Although, some tougher times might be on the horizon. Toyota recently released its financial figures for the three fiscal quarters running from April 1 through the end of December 2014. Net profit jumped an impressive 13.2 percent to 1.727 trillion yen ($14.7 billion) for that period. It could be the Japanese automaker's most profitable time ever when the fiscal year ends in March, if things keep going this way, according to The New York Times. Toyota's own profit forecast for the 12-month period is also up by 130 billion yen ($1.1 billion) to 2.13 trillion yen ($18.1 billion). One key to the company's success is the low value of the Japanese yen, because it allows Toyota to make more money on each vehicle the company sells abroad. The currency is now worth relatively less than any time since the early '70s, according to The New York Times. Despite the rosy financial numbers, actual sales have started to fall, albeit a very slight amount. Through the three fiscal quarters, the company sold 6.73 million cars, a drop of just 45,365 vehicles. Toyota also reduced its forecast for the fiscal year to 9 million units, rather than the original estimate of 9.05 million. According to The New York Times, the shrinking Japanese auto market and difficulty in China might mean losing the global sales lead next year. For the US, sales jumped 145,411 units from April through December to a total 2.1 million vehicles. Operating income reached $4.27 billion, nearly 50 percent more than last year, according to The New York Times. Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) Announces April – December 2014 Financial Results February 04, 2015 Toyota's global net income jumped 13.2 percent during the nine-month period (April 1– December 31, 2014) of the 2015 fiscal year. Global Financial Highlights: Global sales decreased by 45,365 vehicles to 6.73 million, with strong sales in North America and gains in Europe, offsetting decreases in Japan and other regions.
