1973 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser
3 Speed Transmission & Transfer Case
Awesome Farm Find
Hello, and welcome to my FJ40 auction. I am the third owner of this vehicle. I bought this FJ40 from an irrigation salesman who purchased it from a farmer in Oakley Idaho.
He only had the vehicle for a couple of months and then sold it to me. It has always run well, but I have had to do some work to her to get her on the road and legal again.
This Land Cruiser is in excellent condition and has not been changed much from the day it rolled off of the lot. It still has all of the smog and emissions set-up intact and it even has the original radio.
The body is very clean, the suspension is excellent, and the vehicle has been in use since 1973. This is one of the rare FJ40s you will find that has never sat for a long period of time.
The farmers took the rear seats out and and the tire carrier off to make a pipe carrying device on the FJ40. The rear seats are missing but I do have the rear hitch for the vehicle.

Here is a list of the original OEM parts on this vehicle:
The 3 speed transmission engine, and transfer case are all stock.
The entire body, frame, axles, etc. are stock with no aftermarket parts.
The interior is all original including all of the switches, lights, and all four seats
The radio, knobs, seats, front heater are OEM and original to the vehicle.
The doors and hatch are all original and in excellent condition. The front and back doors are entirely rust free, and are very nice
The paint on this vehicle is also original. The previous owners would shoot a little primer on the rig when it got a chip in the paint to keep it from rusting. It definitely worked, and you will be stunned by how clean this rig is.
You can see that most of this vehicle is stock and in great condition.

The brakes have been completely redone and the engine has had a tune-up. The seals, steering, tie rods, etc. have all been greased.
The 4x4 has been tested and greased as well. This rig is ready to go on the trail now.
I must say that every time I work on this rig I am just amazed at how clean it is still.

Farmerations:
This vehicle was used for farm use, so it has been farmarized in a few ways.
First, when I got the vehicle I had to cut the crazy pipe carrying unit off of it.
Second, the farmer has done a little welding work on the vehicle. There are three nicely welded patches on the vehicle. The first one is on the tranny hump, the second is a small patch on the wheel well, and the third is where the tire carrier attaches to the body.
Third, the overflow tank is not OEM, it is an antifreeze bottle. I have been rocking it for months and it works great by the way.
Fourth, the rear heater is custom made and works better than any FJ40 heater ever made. It has its own fan and a newer heater core that pumps out the heat. You will not get cold with this thing on.
Fifth, the passenger side door has an awesome pipe door handle.
Sixth, I have left some of the bullets and beer tabs in this rig to add to the ambiance.

I have eleven FJ40s at the moment and this is the one that everyone wants to drive and ride in. The rubber is in excellent shape and everything is straight and clean, so the ride is really smooth and quiet.
The engine just purrs and is a torque machine. This thing is trail ready and a blast to drive. This is probably the best FJ40 project car I have ever had, I just have too many at the moment. This one hurts a little to sell because it is so straight and mostly rust free. The doors are in great shape and the hatch actually works. This vehicle also still has all of the original factory stickers and emblems. I do have the two rear emblems for this vehicle, that are not photoed in the auction, but they will be included.

This FJ40 would be an ideal restore project, daily driver, or hunting rig. It does have a little rust but it is minimal for an FJ40.
This Cruiser has not been modified at all and is all original.
The vehicle is fully functional and trail ready.
The only things that do not work on the vehicle are the speedometer, and the turn signals. I had the turn signals working but there is a ground problem that I do not have time to fix. It would be a really easy fix though.

I have a video on Youtube that shows the car running, shifting, driving, and a complete walkthrough. You need to view this video to appreciate the power and beauty of this FJ40.
I can also store the vehicle for 30 days once payment is made if you need time to arrange shipment. You will need to pay me $100.00 a month to store it any longer than that.
Payment must be made within one week of auction ending. Thanks for looking and have a wonderful day:)

Next Toyota Prius may get optional all-wheel drive

Tue, Jul 15 2014

We've been hearing rumors about the next generation of the Toyota Prius for the last couple of years on a pretty regular basis. From the expectation of lithium-ion battery packs with more capacity for electric-only miles to wireless charging and more emotional styling, there's been no shortage of talking points for the car that's expected to see its first light of day at the very end of 2015 (we hope). But one thing we've yet to hear about, until now that is, is all-wheel drive. According to a report from Automotive News, Koei Saga, senior managing officer in charge of powertrain development of the Prius, said in an interview last week, "I think we will possibly do [all-wheel drive]" for the car's next generation. There isn't any further indication on how the AWD system would work, but we'd put our money on something similar, at least in principle, to the E-Four system that just debuted on the 2015 Lexus NX 300h, which uses an electric motor mounted at the rear to power the car's back wheels when the front wheels lose traction. The AN report also repeats a rumor we've heard before – that Toyota may offer two different battery pack options in its next Prius, one using lithium-ion chemistry and one using the nickel metal hydride technology that the Prius has featured from its very beginning. While the automaker has yet to talk efficiency, it's natural to expect more capacity for EV driving from newer lithium-based technology over that of nickel-based packs to go along with what we'd also expect would be a somewhat higher price. We're sure you're just as curious about the next Prius as much as we are, and so we'll leave you with these words, again from Saga: "The batteries will be renewed. Everything will be revised. And I think we will come up with a fuel economy that will surprise everyone."

Toyota FV2 Concept is a single-seat mood ring for the road

Wed, 20 Nov 2013

Of all the vehicles Toyota brought to the Tokyo Motor Show, the FV2 might be the most creative. The minimalist single-seat concept is a glimpse at Toyota's idea of a "fun to drive" vehicle in the future.
The FV2 is essentially a pod with a diamond-shaped wheel array (what powers said wheels has not been disclosed), and Toyota says that the technology of the vehicle allows it to gauge the driver's mood and suggest possible destinations. The interaction between driver and vehicle is also displayed in an augmented reality screen on the windshield, and the car can also act as a mood ring of sorts with exterior colors and patterns that can change based on the driver's mood. We can just see it now: "Don't mess with Jim today, his car is red."
Scroll down for a brief press release on the FV2.

2015 Toyota Camry set to circle NASCAR track near you

Mon, 13 Oct 2014

Toyota recently introduced the all-new 2015 Camry for the street, so it follows that it should want to promote its new bread-and-butter sedan by putting it out on the racetrack as well. And that's just what it's done here with the release of the new Toyota Camry for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
The new Camry represents the first reskin of the standard stock car chassis since the Gen-6 model was introduced in 2012. Toyota's Calty Design studio worked closely with series organizers to determine which parts could be redesigned to more closely resemble the new production model, and what you see here is the result. Since it is based on the same control chassis as all the others, the Camry's skin is applied over a steel tube frame and powered by an old-school 5.86-liter pushrod V8 mated to a four-speed manual gearbox.
Although the idea of a Japanese automaker in American stock car racing didn't initially get the warmest reception from some of the good ol' boys when it first entered the series back in 2007, it has by now become a staple of the NASCAR circuit. After all, it's hard for even the most patriotic of racing fans to argue with the US-built Camry's ranking as one of the most American cars by content on the market.
