Temecula, California, United States

I AM SELLING MY 1971 FJ55 ( Build Date 1 / 1971 ), VIN NUMBER: FJ5519787 / 2F ENGINE NUMBER: 2F668416. What your looking at is ALL ORIGINAL PAINT, NEVER PAINTED SINCE FACTORY. The Cruiser has ZERO CANCER and only light surface rust in some areas. The roof gutters were lined with protective coating years ago by PO and show NO signs of cancer rust at all. The UNDERCARRIAGE is also Rust Free. The quick story is that this FJ55 lived in Palm Springs almost its entire life until brought over to San Diego area in 2011. The Original owner's daughter blew up the F engine sometime in the late 70's, early 80's. It then sat in the owners garage for approx. 29 years. It was then sold to a friend of mine in Palm Springs. He found a 2F ENGINE but did NOT put it in. He then sold it to a guy in San Diego who put the engine in but never hooked it up. I then bought it and my mechanic who was with Toyota for 18 years got the Engine running. We have done the following to the cruiser:>>>>> Hooked up 2F engine, Removed and cleaned out and replaced fuel line to fuel tank, Rewired Alternator, Bled hydraulic Clutch, New wheel cylinders, Brake shoes, Exhaust pipe, Igniter, Coil, Belt, Wiper blades, Pedal pad kit, Choke cable, Gas pedal and assembly, Battery hold down, Sand blast and restore stock steel wheels, New BF Goodrich 33 x 10.50 x 15 All Terrain T/A x 4 ( only 20 miles on them, Oil Filter, Fuel Filter, Primer Pump, Ignition wires, Oil plug gasket, Distributor Cap, Rotor, Plugs, Thermo gasket, 4 speed knob, 4 wd knob, OPTIMA battery, Battery cables, Install 4 speed Transmission / Transfer Case, Mount heater, heater hoses, Rebuild Starter, R&R Valve Cover, Replace Valve Cover Gasket, Replace Water Pump studs, Install Radiator Fan, Pully, Alternator, Belt and other details, Fabricate and weld in Motor Mounts, R&R Radiator, Reseal Top of Transmission, New flanges and seals, New drive shafts, 2F Engine flush, Oil Change, Drain plug gasket, New hose clamps, Replace all Radiator Hoses, Coolent, Sand Blast and machine Brake Drums, Brake Fluid, New fuel line, New wiring, Front and Real Pinion Seal and flange, R&R Brakes front and rear, Install Clutch, Clutch Slave, R&R Cargo electric window, Replace Oil Pan Gasket, Freeze plug, Glove compartment, Repair brake lights, blinker switch, back lights, Replace heater core, Hook up Temp gauge, Fuel gauge. I am not sure when the PO upholstered the seats front and rear but they are in perfect condition, Headliner in very nice condition with no rips, Floor in front has been rhino lined, floor in back and cargo remain stock and in near perfect condition with no rust at all. This Land Cruiser was kept inside and also in a very dry environment its whole life. As mentioned, it stayed put for about 30 years from what we understand. It is the cleanest original paint I have ever seen on an FJ55. I have owned 4 of them. ZERO RUST on this cruiser. The Cruiser can be either driven on a daily basis and enjoyed in its original form until you decide to restore it or just improve on it over the years. I have never wanted to restore the exterior body because of its original paint. It has a BEAUTIFUL original patina. I have many other pictures that I can send to you. Please ask questions and I will post them for others to see as well. The addition of the 2F Land Cruiser Engine has given the cruiser a much added boost in power and still wonderful torque. The FJ55 is known for its ruggedness. Mine has been well taken care of and has many years of life still in it. It has either been garaged or covered its entire life. Ready for the mountains. Good luck bidding and let me know if you need more pics. I know there are things I have forgotten to mention but please just ask questions if you have them. I have set the reserve fairly in my opinion based on the rarity and condition of the cruiser. I will be doing a COMPRESSION CHECK this next Wednesday to confirm the Engine condition but it does NOT leak, does NOT smoke, has plenty of power and a joy to drive. Will post Compression numbers when I get them. Thanks.

Meet the Greenest and Meanest vehicles of 2016

Wed, Jan 27 2016

If you've been keeping track, you won't be surprised with the number one entry in this year's list of greenest cars from the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE). In fact, the top three spots on the 2016 list are all the same as they were in 2015. After that, things get interesting. For one thing, this is the first Greenest list that doesn't have any purely internal combustion engine powertrain on it. Hybrids, yes, but if you want to be one of the top 12 greenest cars this year, you'd better have some sort of electric angle. ACEEE says that the conventional, gas-powered Smart Fortwo and Chevrolet Spark just missed the cut. In a statement, ACEEE lead vehicle analyst Shruti Vaidyanathan said, "The 2016 scores are in, and plug-in electric vehicles are outpacing all other vehicle offerings in terms of environmental friendliness." Like last year, one of the noticeable vehicles missing from the green list is the Tesla Model S. One reason? ACEEE takes curb weight into account (lighter is better), and the Model S is a heavy beast. The ACEEE doesn't just look at the clean side of the ledger. It also puts out a "meanest" list. These are the vehicles that pollute the most, not only from their tailpipes, but also any pollution created during the entire manufacturing process, from mining the raw materials to the energy used to produce the vehicle at the factory. The entire list, from greenest to meanest, is done using a "cradle to grave" analysis. You can see how the ACEEE determines its rankings here, explore the entire greenest cars site here, or click through our galleries to see which vehicles are extra green (above) or extra mean (below) this year. 12: Mercedes-Benz GL550 4MATIC View 12 Photos More Electric Cars than Ever on Greenest Vehicles List Electric Vehicles Nab 9 out of Top 12 Spots in ACEEE's Environmental Vehicle Rankings Washington, DC: Despite a tumultuous year for the automotive industry, manufacturers have continued to offer exciting technology options for a growing vehicle market. Today at greenercars.org, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) released its 19th annual comprehensive environmental ratings for vehicles. The following vehicles comprise the Greenest List for 2016: Greenest Score 1. Mercedes-Benz Smart ForTwo Electric Drive Convertible / Coupe 63 2. Chevrolet Spark EV 63 3. Fiat 500E 62 4. Toyota Prius sets a different kind of Nurburgring lap record [w/video]

Tue, 15 Jul 2014

Scroll down the leaderboards of Nürburgring lap times and you'll see mostly racing cars, supercars and sports cars. Delve deep enough and you'll eventually get to hatchbacks and sedans, albeit the most performance-focused of their kind. But a hybrid? Sure, the Porsche 918 Spyder posted the top time for a street-legal series production car, and it's technically a hybrid, but we're talking about another kind of hybrid here. We're talking about a Toyota Prius.
That's right: the Prius just set a lap record around the Nordschleife. But it wasn't for the lap time. In fact, miles per hour barely factored in (except for staying above the minimum 37-mph average speed mandated on the vaunted racing circuit). No, this was about miles per gallon.
Toyota took one of its Prius Plug-In hybrids to the Nürburgring, topped up the battery, put on a set of low-rolling-resistance tires and put automotive journalist Joe Clifford behind the wheel with a mandate to use as little fuel as possible. After one second shy of 21 minutes, the Prius completed its lap having used just five tablespoons of fuel.

Ford only automaker to make 2012 Buzz Rankings, Toyota most improved

Wed, 30 Jan 2013

Ford landed itself a spot among the top 10 brands in the 2012 Buzz Rankings. The annual index scores 1,100 brands in 41 categories to determine which nameplates had the most positive buzz throughout the year.
For the third year in a row, Subway took the top honors overall with a score of 40.3, and Ford was the only automaker to break into the top 25 by earning a sixth-place finish overall. The manufacturer earned a score of 32.1 points, which was enough to push it up one spot from the 2011 Buzz Rankings. Honda managed 21.2 points overall, which is still well behind 25th-place Kohl's at 26.5 points. Toyota, Volkswagen and BMW all round out the top five automakers.
The 2012 Buzz Rankings also keep track of which brands improved the most over the past year, and this year, Toyota was the manufacturer with the largest leap forward. The Japanese automaker jumped from just 14 points in 2011 to 20.5 in 2012. Chrysler, Kia, Dodge and Volkswagen all saw sizable steps forward as well. Be sure to head over to the Brand Index site for more information.
