69 fj40 with Arizona roots still has an Army  base sticker 15 miles from Mexico on the windshield. It belonged to a U.S. Marshall and ended up in the D.C. area where it was traded to my friend I got it from. I haven't seen a more solid FJ ever. You can see every pinch weld and rivet. Motor is a 1973 as well as the heads # v 03 21 CLKorY cant tell. Either with the casting number shows a 73 z28 motor.  Truck shifts stops and goes as it should and has been changed to electronic HEI ignition. 4x4 has been tested and works fine. It has stainless dual exhaust and sounds really nice and mellow. It looks like this truck was ground up restored in the past it has newer painless wiring and its painted underneath and that preserved it. Inner tub has been Linex coated and areas where paint rubs off like door sills, steps, jambs, and where the top meets has been coated as well and painted to match where needed. Outside panels are super straight and nice. The round glass is good as well as the rest of the glass. All hinges and mirror mounts are stainless. There is an original book and tool wrap that was in it as well as a chilton book on FJs and the painless wiring book. There are some new handles for one door and the back hatch as well as some rubber moldings although I don't know where they go. There are no jumper seats in the back just the front buckets which are not original. I was going to get black covers they are grey and comfortable but not nice enough for the truck. Here is all I know bad with the truck which is minimal but I don't want any surprises. The front fog lights aren't working but I haven't really tried to see why. The tires are brand new and only have a hundred miles on them but rims are just painted it could use the original steelies painted to match with caps. This truck is super solid and nice but under hood and underneath need a good freshen up on paint and polish, its a little dirty. The last pic shows a spider crack in the paint where the rubbers are missing from the hood where you tilt it all the way open against the windshield. There is also one scratch that has been touched up with a slightly darker color on top of the right fender about 2 inches or so. The front bumper looks to be slightly bent (as seen in pic of front)but this is the cheapest item on the vehicle, 68 bucks painted pewter on Ebay right now! The windshield has a chip (as seen in sticker pic) that can be fixed reasonably along with a slight scratch where the wiper must have come off in the past. They don't come much nicer for under 30k and with minimal work you can get this one there so bid to win this truck needs a FJ nut to appreciate it. Its not a show piece yet and still needs some little stuff like the turn signals  aren't flashing ect.  But as far as solid and running great ect.,  I cant see it getting much better for the low reserve. This is a quality piece and is not being given away but someone is gonna get the deal of the year on this FJ if they know the value of this piece. Truck has an open clear title and is as is as described Im an enthusiast and not a dealer but I will try to answer all questions best I can and help with loading or delivery if its not too far. Make sure and contact me at the end to show you  are serious. Good luck to all...

Honda may recall up to 1M vehicles for airbag issue, following Toyota's lead

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

It seems Toyota won't be the only one recalling the faulty Takata airbag inflators for long. Honda insiders in Japan claim that the company is getting close to announcing its own worldwide campaign that would begin before the end of June.
Unnamed sources close to Honda in Japan tell Automotive News that the company is pursuing an internal investigation into possibly affected models and is working with Takata to gather more information. They claim that it could involve even more than the 1.14 million cars worldwide that the automaker covered under the first recall for the problem in April 2013, including 561,000 vehicles in the US.
Toyota jumpstarted this process last week when it recalled over 2 million cars worldwide, including 844,277 in the US. Soon after, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began a preliminary evaluation into the issue following six reported incidents, and started assembling data about potentially affected models from Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Chrysler. NHTSA also began investigating Takata itself.

2017 Toyota 86 Drivers' Notes | Fun, even with an automatic

Fri, Aug 25 2017

The Toyota 86 is a car that enthusiasts begged Toyota to build for decades. It's small, lightweight and rear-wheel drive. Thanks to a partnership with Subaru that resulted in the BRZ, this stylish coupe hit the streets in 2012. In the U.S., the car was originally known as the Scion FR-S but was rebadged as a Toyota after Scion was axed last year. Along with a new name, the 86 received updated styling both inside and out as well as a revised suspension and a slight bump in power, at least for the manual models. This Hot Lava-colored car doesn't feature Toyota's slick six-speed manual. Instead it rocks a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters. While some enthusiasts may look down at that, automatics make up more than half of 86 sales. Still, the bones are there, and some people don't think the automatic is all that bad. Either way, we can't encourage enough people to buy these cars, as we want Toyota and Subaru to keep building them. Senior Editor, Green, John Beltz Snyder: When I first slid behind the wheel of the 86, I was surprised to see the gear selector and paddles. It's one of those cars that you don't think of as having anything but a manual transmission. Also, in an interior where all the controls and displays are underwhelming, a set of paddle shifters stands out as one of the few tactile objects in the cabin. I ended up using the paddles quite a bit, and found that I actually enjoyed using them, so much so that I'd actually consider opting for the automatic transmission were I to buy an 86. Despite shifts that aren't as razor sharp as they could be, the car's high-revving engine means that it still feels great to use. Riding an engine like this up to its redline, filling the cabin with noise, is the sort of thing that'll give you goosebumps. Being able to keep both hands on the wheel while shifting is a good thing for engagement in this car, based on my time with it. Plus, when I got stuck in traffic, I didn't have to wear out my left leg. The other brilliant thing about the Toyota 86 is its sense of balance. I loved the way it communicated its load distribution when cornering, whether on or off the throttle or brake. The fact that the nose of this car snaps right to where you want it when you start dialing in steering angle is satisfying. And its low stance and good view out the windshield make it really easy to place on the road.

Toyota sudden acceleration class action may cover 22 million owners

Thu, 16 May 2013

A total of 22.6 million current and former Toyota owners have been sent notices that they may be eligible to receive compensation from the automaker for damages related to the unintended acceleration fiasco that has dominated headlines in 2009 and 2010. The total payout may be as high as $1.63 billion, according to The Detroit News.
Steve Berman, a lawyer for the owners, calls the potential deal "a landmark, if not a record, settlement in automobile defects class action litigation in the United States." Still, there's some debate about whether or not Toyota's proposed settlement is fair, as it includes $30 million for safety research and driver education programs - in other words, Toyota seems to be suggesting that drivers need more education on how to drive their correctly working and fully functional vehicles. For those keeping track, Toyota would also be paying lawyer fees of $200 million.
A US District Judge in California is scheduled to hold a so-called "fairness hearing" on June 14 that could decide the fate of this particular settlement. Further courtroom wrangling will be required to hash out any wrongful death suits levied against Toyota stemming from unintended acceleration claims, as those are not part of this class-action suit.
