UP FOR SALE IS A 1969 TOYOTA FJ40 LAND CRUISER WITH ITS FACTORY SOFT TOP. THE SOFT TOP IS A REPLACEMENT PAKTOP. THE PAKTOPS ARE THE CLOSEST TO THE ORIGINAL TOPS THAT YOU CAN BUY. THIS FJ IS ACTUALLY USED ON THE WEBSITE FOR PAKTOPS AS ONE OF THE FEATURED LAND CRUISERS. IT IS ALSO USED AS A SAMPLE LAND CRUISER ON THE WEB SITE VINTAGEOFFROAD.COM.. THIS LAND CRUISER COMES WITH ITS FACTORY SOFT AND HARD DOORS. IT HAS THE TOYOTA INLINE SIX CYLINDER MOTOR AND THREE SPEED TRANSMISSION ON THE COLUMN. THIS IS AN ALL STOCK LAND CRUISER WITH NO EXTRA HOLES IN THE DASH, NO AFTER MARKET ROLL BAR, NO AFTER MARKET RADIO ADDED. THE ONLY AFTER MARKET ITEM ADDED IS A STOWABLE TOW BAR ON THE FRONT BUMPER. THIS LAND CRUISER IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. IT HAS NO RUST, DENTS, BONDO OR REPAIRS. IT DOES HAVE A FEW TYPICAL GRAVEL CHIPS IN THE PAINT AS THIS IS NOT A GARAGE QUEEN, IT TAKES ME TO THE MOUNTAINS ON ALMOST EVERY WEEKEND TO GO FLY FISHING. HOWEVER IT DOES STAY IN MY GARAGE WHEN NOT IN USE. THIS LAND CRUISER IS NOT ONLY GOOD FOR OFF ROAD ADVENTURES, IT IS A 70 MPH HIGHWAY VEHICLE ALSO. THE TIRES ON THIS FJ ARE 33" BFGOODRICH (INCLUDING THE SPARE). THE TIRES ARE ON THE FACTORY STEEL RIMS. THIS FJ WAS ACTUALLY MANUFACTURED IN LATE 1968, SO IT IS ONE OF THE LAST FEW FJ'S TO HAVE THE ROUND TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS. THEY WERE CHANGED IN THE FIRST FEWS MONTHS OF 1969 TO SQUARE. Toyota close to licensing deal with BMW for fuel cell technology
Wed, 23 Jan 2013For over a year now, we've been hearing about a potential partnership between Toyota and BMW on everything from sports cars to lithium-ion batteries, but one of the first cooperative projects between these two automakers could bring Toyota's hydrogen fuel cell technology to a BMW vehicle. Reuters is reporting that an announcement is likely to be made as soon as later this week regarding a BMW fuel cell vehicle that could be in production by 2020 with a prototype running around by 2015.
The last we heard of Toyota's fuel cell technology, it was in the FCV-R Concept that we saw at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show, but there is no word how far along in development this system is. If it does come to fruition, such a vehicle for BMW would build on the automaker's commitment to hydrogen that started with the Hydrogen 7, which unlike a fuel cell vehicle, simply ran on hydrogen fuel rather than converting it to electricity for use in motors. We're definitely interested where this Toyota/BMW tie up could be headed.
Watch a Camry driver in full road rage
Mon, 29 Apr 2013There are vehicles that, fair or not, will forever be associated with jerky drivers. But as this very recent footage from an in-car camera shows, even the most mundane of sedans can be piloted by an ass.
In this video, the driver of one very beige Toyota Camry is driving like a person choked with rage. Though we don't see which (if any) actions by our camera car might have lead up to the tirade, we do see the Camry driver swerving from lane to lane, in multiple attempts to get in front of and brake check the couple in the recording.
According to the text associated with the YouTube video, the offending incident took place last week, on a section of I-880 near Fremont, CA. The uploader has gone so far as to include the date, time and license plate number of the Camry driver, in hopes, we guess, that some kind of legal action can be taken against him. "We have not capped the Hellcat on either the Challenger or the Charger," Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis said.
