1966 Toyota Landcruiser Factory Soft Top Concours Winner on 2040-cars
West Linn, Oregon, United States
Here’s an opportunity to own an incredible Concours Winning Factory Soft Top FJ40 Landcruiser. This FJ40 received a 3-year complete bare metal nut and bolt restoration to the highest standard. The restoration was completed in 2013. It has been driven 151 miles since being finished. Originally sold at Hil Probert Motors in Lakespur , California (see inner glove box decal), and still wearing its original California black plates to this day. This 1966 cruiser started out as a dry and complete California example, never hit, original Volcanic Beige paint, a true cream puff and the best possible base car you could ever hope to find for a full blown nut and bolt restoration. The restoration was a team effort involving some highly respected Landcruiser experts based out of the Pacific Northwest. Genesis 4 wheel drive, Metric TLC, and Landcruiser Northwest. I have a 3 ring binder full of all documentation pertaining to the restoration. Every component is restored, rebuilt, detailed, plated, accurately reproduced, etc. Many New Old Stock parts were used during the build. It has correct coral red upholstery, proper red seat belts, khaki green soft top and soft doors, proper canvas safety straps for the door openings, correct decals. I also have a rebuilt Jack with handles, and a restored hand crank start handle that are included. Drivetrain is a freshly rebuilt 2F with a 4 speed; it was built to be a great driver. I’m a firm believer in pictures being worth a thousand words. Please see my gallery for as found, under construction, and finished photos. https://picasaweb.google.com/dustin.howell/1966FactorySoftTopLandcruiser This beauty was debuted at the 2013 Forest Grove Concours D Elegance where it won its class and was runner up for best in show post-war. If you’re just starting your search for an investment grade FJ, I’d recommend taking a few minutes to browse this article recently published by Hemmings Motor News, particularly Item #3: http://blog.hemmings.com/ The reason for selling is I’m making a move on a once in a lifetime muscle car that is available. Has a clean CA title. Vehicle is located in West Linn, Oregon. I’m happy to assist in shipping arrangements. I can easily be reached through eBay, and I check my email daily. Thank you for looking.

Toyota CamRally is vanilla spiced
Tue, 05 Nov 2013We weren't quite sure it was possible, but NASCAR driver Parker Kligerman and the other folks behind this Toyota Dream Build Challenge vehicle (check out the other cars in the challenge) have made the Camry, a versatile but vanilla family sedan, into a performance car to be reckoned with. And by stripping it (literally) of its versatility and injecting some spice into it, this rally-spec Camry does indeed appeal to the enthusiast crowd.
The appeal starts with the CamRally's vintage Toyota racing colors of red, orange and yellow painted on a widened body. Those wide fender flares and rocker panels, paired with the revised front and rear fascias (and massive rear spoiler), lend the car an aggressive look without being tacky, and enhance the aerodynamics. But peel back the skin and you'll find plenty of performance upgrades to back up the looks.
While Toyota doesn't say how much horsepower it makes, the CamRally's V6 is turbocharged, and we assume the car's brake upgrade is indicative of the engine's increased output. The stripped interior only contains what's needed for rally racing, including bucket seats, a motorsport steering wheel covered in Alcantara, a carbon-fiber dashboard and a roll cage.
Honda may recall up to 1M vehicles for airbag issue, following Toyota's lead
Mon, 16 Jun 2014It seems Toyota won't be the only one recalling the faulty Takata airbag inflators for long. Honda insiders in Japan claim that the company is getting close to announcing its own worldwide campaign that would begin before the end of June.
Unnamed sources close to Honda in Japan tell Automotive News that the company is pursuing an internal investigation into possibly affected models and is working with Takata to gather more information. They claim that it could involve even more than the 1.14 million cars worldwide that the automaker covered under the first recall for the problem in April 2013, including 561,000 vehicles in the US.
Toyota jumpstarted this process last week when it recalled over 2 million cars worldwide, including 844,277 in the US. Soon after, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began a preliminary evaluation into the issue following six reported incidents, and started assembling data about potentially affected models from Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Chrysler. NHTSA also began investigating Takata itself.
First Toyota unintended acceleration case headed for trial
Mon, 22 Jul 2013Toyota is going to be back in the spotlight, as the first of its unintended acceleration lawsuits is headed for trial. This case covers a Los Angeles sushi shop owner, Noriko Uno. According to the what the family told The Detroit News, Uno only put about 10,000 miles on her 2006 Toyota Camry in four years. Uno was apparently afraid of high speeds, avoiding the freeway and taking a route home along LA's surface streets to avoid them.
On August 28, 2009, Uno's Camry suddenly accelerated to 100 miles per hour, eventually striking a telephone poll and a tree and killing her. The family contends that Uno attempted to step on the brakes and pull the emergency brake, neither of which brought her speed under control, while Toyota maintains that improperly installed floormats and driver error have been behind the majority of the 80 cases expected to be heard in court.
In Uno's case, The Detroit News is expecting the trial to focus on the lack of an override if the gas and brake pedals were pressed at the same time. Brake overrides were installed on Toyota's European fleet. The Uno family attorney will need to prove to the jury that it wasn't driver error that killed Noriko Uno.
