Used FJ bought in 2009 from previous owner who had Chevy 307 rebuilt engine retrofitted into vehicle; rebuilt engine cost $2,549.  Engine makes this FJ powerful and is reliable having started every time even in cold winter weather.  Vehicle has unique hardtop (no corner windows) and functional heater.  I had rear end differential rebuilt in 2009 cost $1,300.  Alternator and starter solenoid was replaced in 2013. Vehicle has 72,099 miles per odometer which stopped working appr. 1,000 miles ago. Miles on rebuilt engine are estimated to be less than 15,000. Manual transmission.  Vehicle has bucket driver and passenger seats only.  Cruiser tops out at 60 mph on highway but runs best at 45-50 mph on highway and slow speeds if climbing hills.

Vehicle has slow leak at adapter between engine and transmission.  Transmission is 4 forward gears and 1 reverse gear.  I monitor about every 60 days and add 80W-90 gear oil to adapter leak as needed.  Driver side window requires some assistance to close while cranking.  Windshield wiper motors are disconnected and have never been used.  Driver side blinker and cover missing.  Tail brake lights work intermittently so need a little electrical work.  Clutch is functional but boot behind clutch pedal will need replacing to prevent leaking and draining of reservoir.  Thermostat housing had slow leak with gasket replaced by mechanic last month which I'm still monitoring; mechanic advised may need to change thermostat housing to aluminum to better align with engine.

Vehicle includes for FREE: 4 extra tires with rims, 4 snow chains, 1 extra battery, and 1 custom drawbar. Vehicle is being sold as is and is an awesome hunting and 4-wheeling vehicle. Prefer local pickup. Buyer pays shipping costs if shipped.

Toyota explains what names like Camry and Yaris mean

Mon, 20 Oct 2014

Ever wonder where automakers get the names for their cars? You're not alone. The sitcom Seinfeld opened Episode 94 - the one where George Costanza buys a Chrysler LeBaron instead of a Volvo - with a bit about nameplates like Integra, Supra and Impreza. Toyota, clearly, is not exempt from choosing evocative but enigmatic names for its models, and now the Japanese automaker is taking us through the etymology of some of its nameplates.
Names like Supra may require no clarification, but what about Camry? That comes from the Japanese word kanmuri for Crown (which is, incidentally, the name of another Toyota sedan).
Yaris? According to the company, it's "an amalgamation of words from Greek mythology and German. In Greek mythology, 'Charis' was a symbol of beauty and elegance. Toyota swapped the 'Ch' with 'Ya' - German for 'yes' - to symbolize the perceived reaction of European markets to the car's styling."

RC car drift video brings Fast and Furious style in 1:10 scale

Mon, Apr 13 2015

Taking a cue from Lexus' 2015 Super Bowl ad Let's Play, Falken Tire is proving that RC cars can drift just as well, if not better, than their full-size counterparts. However, to make things four times as exciting, this clip eschews a single hopped-up model hanging its tail out in favor of a quartet of them sliding around together. Starring 1:10 RC versions of popular drift machines like the Nissan S15 Silvia, Mazda FD-chassis RX-7 and Initial D star Toyota Corolla AE86, these cars also get a suite of blinking LEDs to lend some extra color to all of the tire spinning. Plus, the use of well-positioned cameras and a scale model environment almost makes this group look like they're at work in the real world. Sunday Drive: Big debuts from the Big Apple dominated the headlines

Sun, Apr 1 2018

New York Auto Show week has come and gone, and, not surprisingly, the week's biggest bits of news came from the halls of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in NYC. Our favorite debut from New York was the Lincoln Aviator, a sharp-dresses crossover that looks lovely inside and out, and sits on underpinnings at least partly derived from the Ford Mustang. While the Aviator may have caught our attention, it wasn't the most popular vehicle debut from New York, at least when judging by the number of page views here on Autoblog. That distinction goes to the 2019 Toyota RAV4, and we're hardly surprised. The RAV4 is the most popular compact crossover in America (in fact it's the most popular vehicle that isn't a pickup truck), and the 2019 version looks like a radical departure from the model that came before. We can't wait to drive the thing. Midsize sedans may not be the darling of the family car set, that honor taken over by the aforementioned crossover, but they still sell in large enough numbers that a brand-new model catches our attention. Such is the case with the 2019 Nissan Altima. We broke down the specs of the Altima and compared Nissan's bread-and-butter sedan with its biggest rivals. And finally, we got some official figures for the 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt. It'll cost a cool $12,000 over the cost of a Mustang GT, and will benefit from a 480-horsepower, 420-pound-foot version of Ford's excellent 5.0-liter V8 engine. As always, stay tuned this week for all the latest automotive news that's fit to print. 2018 New York Auto Show Mega Photo Gallery | Start spreading the news 2019 Toyota RAV4 actually looks pretty cool 2019 Nissan Altima vs Honda Accord vs Toyota Camry: How they compare 2019 Mustang Bullitt orders open as Ford reveals price and horsepower Image Credit: Drew Angerer/Getty New York Auto Show Ford Lincoln Nissan Toyota Coupe Crossover SUV Sedan 2018 new york auto show
