Check out a short video of the FJ running , the quality is not the best, plus every now and then a gust of wind would come in but it would give you a good idea. The vehicle was still cold during the video so the choke was still partly on. Enjoy!

You might hear a little lifter noise, I believe the exhaust valve spring on the #1 cylinder is a little weak.

original air box, carburetor , motor, tranny, interior, etc...

This FJ was last registered in 2004 but it had not been driven since about 1997.

It had been in the same family for practically its whole life. In 2004 the FJ was started after it had been sitting for at least a few years. The FJ was started then driven for about 20 minutes and then about an hour after it was shut off the vehicle would not start again. So then it sat till about 2 months ago

Fast forward to now when the vehicle has been gone through to get back in starting, driving, turning, and stopping condition. When the FJ was started in 2004 the old gas in the fuel tank was used which sealed all the intake valves.

I have done absolutely no body nor paint work!!!

Any body prep or protection was done about 20 years ago.

I removed the head, had it hot tanked, and reseated the valves. 10 photo 20131220_101029.jpg

The fuel tank and fuel lines were cleaned off, now clean

15 photo 20131220_101100.jpgThe original carburetor was cleaned and rebuilt

Electric fuel pump installed

Replaced complete hydraulic system on vehicle

New Toyota Genuine Parts brake master cylinder as well as replaced bad wheel cylinders

New Aisin Clutch hydraulics (Master cylinder, Slave cylinder, and hoses/lines)

4 New Mud Campaigns Tires

34 photo 20140124_161915.jpgAll windows are in great shape

The body on this one is in great shape, the tub was redone in the early 90s and the interior was rhino lined. 23 photo 20140124_161625.jpg

When you look at the pictures notice the fruit loops magnet, place it anywhere it will stick. The tub is all solid metal. The rear hatch door has only surface rust look at the pictures to see it. The interior and floor boards are in great solid condition. Take a look at all the pictures, they will be the best indicator of condition.

Great Glass

Don't mind the tape on spark plug wires that wont be there when you get the vehicle and the hose from valve cover to air box will be on.

The FJ runs great and is in great mechanical condition, no noticeable leaks to mention, all old hoses have also been replaced.

Tape on radiator will be gone as well.

Just a little dirty on driver side floor board, but it is as solid as the rest of the floor.

The inside cab and floor is in fantastic solid condition and rhino lined.

The rear end (bottom rail) is in great shape, this area is very prone to rust, solid on this one and the fruit loops shows it is not from a past bondo repair job.

Just surface rust

26 photo 20140124_163018.jpg27 photo 20140124_160511.jpg

Here comes the fruit loops, the thin magnet was used to show that the body is solid not a bondo wonderland. The parrot? has no problems sticking at all anywhere!28 photo 20140124_160526.jpg29 photo 20140124_160535.jpg30 photo 20140124_160554.jpg31 photo 20140124_160631.jpg

Just a little surface rust on the removable top

32 photo 20140124_160650.jpg

This is a little dent, not rust bubbling

33 photo 20140124_160713.jpg

The only rust that might be a little more than surface rust is in this tiny area, to the right of the Parrot, but as you can see the magnet still sticks just fine. 34 photo 20140124_161915.jpg35 photo 20140124_160153.jpg

I hope you enjoyed looking over this 1964 FJ 40, don't forget about the video where you can see and hear the vehicle running!

Watch a Toyota Highlander ram a house, twice

Mon, 15 Apr 2013

Toyota has had plenty of problems in recent years due to claims of unintended acceleration, and now here's a video that actually catches such a claim on video. The driver of this 2010-2013 Toyota Highlander claims that the crossover's accelerator got stuck causing the vehicle to slam into the house twice, and resulting in damage to the Highlander, the house and two vehicles inside the garage. While we don't know when this accident took place, the video was uploaded to YouTube back in January.
It is impossible to determine what actually happened in this video, but what we do know is that a security camera captures the Highlander slowly pulling into the driveway before it lunges forward slamming into the garage. With the tires squealing and metal crunching, the driver then shifts between reverse and drive a couple times causing even more property damage before spinning out in the street and finally being able to shift into Park. Scroll down to see the video for yourself. Whether unintended acceleration or driver error, this was undoubtedly a harrowing ordeal.

What's in a trademark? Sometimes, the next iconic car name

Thu, 07 Aug 2014

The United States Patent and Trademark Office is a treasure trove for auto enthusiasts, especially those who double as conspiracy theorists.
Why has Toyota applied to trademark "Supra," the name of one of its legendary sports cars, even though it hasn't sold one in the United States in 16 years? Why would General Motors continue to register "Chevelle" long after one of the most famous American muscle cars hit the end of the road? And what could Chrysler possibly do with the rights to "313," the area code for Detroit?

Toyota Camry re-earns CR 'Recommended' rating following crash tests

Thu, 19 Dec 2013

All is right again in the Toyota kingdom. The Japanese manufacturer's bread-and-butter sedan, the Camry, has been put back on Consumer Reports' "Recommended" vehicle list, following improved performance in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's crash testing.
You'll recall that the 2012 and 2013 Camry were infamously booted from the list due to "Poor" ratings in IIHS' notoriously tough small-overlap crash testing. Toyota vowed - just last week actually - to fix the ratings. As the Toyota brand's head, Bill Fay, said last week, "It's still a five-star car. It still does very well in all the IIHS tests. It did not in [the small overlap frontal crash test], and we're busy making the necessary adjustments so that we can address that."
Now, though, those redesigned cars have been tested, earning an "Acceptable" rating in the overlap testing. According to Consumer Reports, Camrys built from November 2013 on feature new internal structures that improve the car's crash test scores enough to make it a "Recommended" buy. IIHS has also elevated the car back to a position in its Top Safety Pick category, although it falls short of the new gold standard, the Top Safety Pick + rating.
