74 Toyota Fj40 Landcruiser With Chevy V8 Conversion Dark Green on 2040-cars
Ooltewah, Tennessee, United States
This is a 1974 FJ40 that has had the Chevy V8 conversion. The engine is a new Chevy 350 crate engine with less than 500 miles since installed. I had the turbo 400 transmission and transfer case rebuilt when they replaced the engine. This is built for a true off road vehicle, but can be driven on the road. It has a 4 inch lift and sits on 35 inch tires (that are new),It is in good shape for this year vehicle and had the typical rust in the rear quarter panels and along the back of the seats where the rear section meets the floor pan. I welded in metal along that section and put on the rear quarter panel covers over the bad spots. I did treat and paint the rust areas and they have been this way for the past 13 years I have owned and driven the vehicle. I repainted it last year, but it is just a rattle can paint job, great for off road cause you can touch up any trail rash with paint from local hardware or superstore. I have done many upgrades to the vehicle listed below. I am in the Chattanooga TN area, so you are welcome to see the cruiser if you are in the area. It has a clear TN title. I will only except cash or PayPal as payments for this vehicle. No international sales, but I can be available if someone wants to have the vehicle shipped in the US. Here is a list of what has been done to this cruiser: New crate 350 engine with less then 500 miles Rebuilt 400 turbo trans and transfer case New BF Goodrich 35 inch mud terrain tires (less then 200 miles on them) New Superwinch 9500 winch with cover New Hella high intensity driving lights Power steering 4 wheel disc brake conversion 4 inch lift, also less then 200 miles on it. New swing out rear tire bumper with 2" hitch Spare tire is match new BF Goodrich mud terrain Has a 4 barrel Holley Truck Dominator carb Newer battery Aluminum radiator New lights up front and in the rear New hold downs for the hood and windshield ARB rear air locker with onboard air compressor with air storage tank plumbed in. Newer adjustable seats Tuffy center locking console with a new Sony explode CD player with Ipod input 2 weather proof speakers Poly gas tank Rock lights New weather stripping on doors Soft top with hard doors. The soft top has a place on the roof where it rubs on the role bar that wore through. I have duct tape over it, and it is a small hole. Full roll bar CB radio with antenna Custome gauges (Spedo and odometer do not work, replaced the cable but no luck, not sure of milage but guessing over 100,000) As I said, this is set up for off road use, but it can be driven on the road. It does not have the greatest road manners with the power steering and large tires on a 4" lift. The 4 barrel carb also likes gas and these things are not the most fuel efficient vehicles to begin wth. As you can see from the list above a large amount of money has been spent on this cruiser to set it up for a serious 4 wheeling vehicle. I moved from another state and away from my wheeling friends and have no time to take it out anymore. No reserve on this auction and I will not end it early so please do not ask. |

Toyota recalls pre-collision system on Avalon and ES models
Wed, Nov 4 2015Toyota is recalling 31,000 US examples of the 2013-2015 Avalon, Avalon Hybrid, Lexus ES350, and ES 300h because the Pre-Collision System could potentially cause an accident. According to the company, it's possible for the safety aid to misidentify a steel joint or plate in the road as a hazard and apply the brakes. The sudden, unexpected activation could lead to a crash. Toyota spokesperson Cindy Knight told Autoblog that the company has reports of two accidents in the US related to this issue, and there are also two alleged injuries. The company has no reports of fatalities. Toyota is taking a serious approach to deal with this problem. First, the company plans to disable the system on these sedans. Once the parts are available, dealers will replace the system with improved components. The company doesn't yet know when these repairs will begin, but owners should receive notification of the recall in November, according to Knight. Toyota isn't alone in needing to tweak safety equipment. Ford faced a similar issue when the company recalled 36,857 examples of the 2015 F-150 because passing a large, reflective semi could inadvertently activate the collision warning system. An update for the adaptive cruise control module software fixed the problem. TOYOTA RECALLS CERTAIN AVALON AND LEXUS ES VEHICLES TORRANCE, Calif., November 3, 2015 – Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. today announced that it is conducting a safety recall of approximately 31,000 Model Year 2013-2015 Avalon, Avalon Hybrid, Lexus ES350 and ES300h sedans. In the involved vehicles, under certain situations, the PCS (Pre-Collision System) could interpret a steel joint or plate in the roadway as an object that triggers PCS activation. If this occurs, the PCS warning buzzer sounds and the system may apply the service brake automatically. Unexpected braking could increase the risk of a crash. For all involved vehicles, the PCS function will be disabled as an interim remedy. As the permanent remedy, Toyota dealers will replace PCS components with improved ones. Information about automotive recalls, including but not limited to the list of involved vehicles, is subject to change over time. For the most up-to-date Safety Recall information on Toyota, Lexus or Scion vehicles, customers should check their vehicle's status by visiting toyota.com/recall and entering the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Safety Recall inquiry by individual VIN is also available at the NHTSA site: safercar.gov/vin.
Hi-po Toyota GT86 to get KERS?
Fri, 09 Nov 2012We happen to like the Toyota GT86 - and, it of course goes without saying that the same applies to the Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S, as well - just the way it is. Yes, that includes the standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine and its 200 horsepower at 7,000 rpm.
That said, a little extra power never hurt anybody, right?
The most obvious way to add some punch to the GT86 would be with a turbocharger, and that has indeed long been rumored for an STI version of the BRZ. Will Toyota follow suit? According to Top Gear, the answer is no. Says GT86 chief engineer Tetsuya Tada, "I think 300bhp with a turbo and 200g/km of CO2 would be tasteless in this day and age. And a turbo would mean the loss of the GT86's uniqueness." Perhaps a bit harsh, but there you go.
2018 Nissan Kicks vs other tiny crossovers: How they compare on paper
Wed, May 9 2018Update: As we now have now driven the 2018 Nissan Kicks and have all the specs and figures available, we thought it was time to update this comparison post. The data chart has been updated with final Kicks information as well as changes to competitors made for 2019. Anyone else have "Pumped Up Kicks" by Foster the People stuck in their heads? Well, you do now. I couldn't be the only one. Anyway, the 2018 Nissan Kicks is a thing. It replaces the Nissan Juke, which Mr. Stocksdale thought was a bad idea and Mr. Myself thought was a smart idea. Nevertheless, neither of us were especially pumped up by the Kicks. However, the majority of car buyers are all about SUVs, and this littlest segment of them has been multiplying like Tribbles in the past few years. The Juke was one of the first of these subcompact crossovers, but it was probably too oddball for a mainstream audience (not to mention inefficient) and never really caught on. Newer competitors certainly didn't help. Well, to see how the Kicks compares to those very competitors, lets fire up the Autoblog Comparo Generator 3000 (TM). Specifically, we'll be looking at those subcompact crossovers with similarly small dimensions, especially low prices and/or a disinclination to offering all-wheel drive. We're talking about the Nissan Kicks vs the Toyota C-HR, Hyundai Kona, Kia Soul, Honda HR-V and Jeep Renegade. Now, if you're interested in literally the exact opposite SUV segment, check out our recent Mercedes G-Class comparo. Otherwise, on to the spreadsheet: Dimensions and passenger space In terms of exterior dimensions, the new Kicks is right smack in the middle of the segment. It's virtually the same as the Honda HR-V, yet manages to eek out a few extra cubic feet of cargo space behind its raised back seat. The Honda and its "Magic Seat" still beats it in terms of maximum capacity, but it sure is close. The Kia Soul has the biggest maximum number, but that's largely the result of being a box. Its small behind-the-back-seat cargo number is likely a better indicator of how much you'll be dealing with on a day-to-day basis. And in that day-to-day way, the Kicks is excellent. Backseat legroom seems to be a Kicks downside, as all but the C-HR surpass it. (Seriously, it's almost impressive how large the C-HR is on the outside but cramped inside.) However, the Kicks' tall greenhouse not only allows for ample headroom, but seats that are mounted high off the ground.
