2011 FJ Cruiser TRD with lots of upgrades
This truck is in near perfect condition and has no problems at all. lots of money has been put into customizing this truck and it quite obviously shows. At under 52000 miles, you can't find another fj in this condition that has been treated as nicely. Oil changes at every scheduled interval have kept it running like it did off the lot. The Demello front bumper adds increased safety and also makes the truck look stylish. Custom pinstriping on the sides continually bring compliments from everyone around and are definitely an eye catcher. The Wrangler duratracs are the smoothest riding offroad terrain tires i could find but none the less will get you out of anything from a mudslide to an avalanche. the 4wd with the rear differential locker both work great and have never had a problem. Custom leather interior adds a luxury feel to the car all while still maintaining the tough look. The Fj Cruiser looks to be nothing more than a toy, but in reality, it is spacious, smooth and gets good gas mileage on the highway. It would serve well as a family vehicle also or a toy. While i have owned it i have driven it as my daily driver and never taken off road more than to park it. The Hella offroad lights mounted to the roof rack will brighten up even the darkest night, and have been used on many long night drives. There are also two small lights mnounted on the back of the care to make it easier to see through tht backup camera when in reverse. Two lights on the side are used to function as camping/accessory lights but they only need to be hooked up to a switch to make them run. Complete Kicker stereo upgrade makes it seem as if you were at the concert when turned up all while remaining clear and eloquent. The LED interior lighting under the dash makes it easy to find something in the floor board if you drop it. and the led lighting in the back and in the grill make it look cool. The Pioneer stereo in the dash is equipped with navigation and more than sufficiently does what you need it to. The box in the back is a massive toolbox that was built to fit in the cargo area and lock all your valuables up. All in all, the Fj Cruiser is a great daily driver and runs smoothly consistently. I have never had a problem with it, I just feel it's time to move on to something else.

Linde spending $4.3 million on two new hydrogen stations in California

Wed, Aug 6 2014

If California is going to sink millions upon millions to expand its hydrogen-refueling infrastructure, shouldn't at least some of that infrastructure be operated by a company that actually produces hydrogen fuel? Why, yes, and that's the case with Linde North America. The company has announced it will build two publicly-accessible hydrogen stations in Northern California, courtesy of a $4.3 million grant from the California Energy Commission (CEC). One of the stations will be at Oakland International Airport while the other will be about 20 miles east in San Ramon, next to Toyota's regional office and parts distribution center for the San Francisco Bay Area. That's only fitting, considering that Toyota is going to release a production fuel cell vehicle next year, first in Japan, then in the US (it will be limited to California at the beginning). The California Air Resources Board recently outlined the Golden State's intention to spend $50 million on getting 28 hydrogen refueling stations up and running by the end of next year and as many as 100 new stations added during the next decade. A large chunk of those (19, to be exact) will be built through a partnership betweetn Toyota and FirstElement Fuel Inc., so things are happening. Check out Linde's press release below. Linde to build two additional retail hydrogen fueling stations in northern California - Receives $4 million grant from California Energy Commission - Fueling stations slated for Oakland International Airport and San Ramon MURRAY HILL, N.J., and NEW PROVIDENCE, N.J., Aug. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The California Energy Commission (CEC) awarded $4.3 million to Linde North America to construct retail hydrogen fueling stations in Northern California. The stations will be located at the Oakland International Airport and on Toyota owned property in San Ramon, California, adjacent to Toyota's San Francisco Regional Office and Parts Distribution Center. The award is part of $46.6 million funding program the CEC has committed this year to expand the retail hydrogen fueling infrastructure within the state. The grants, made through CEC's Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program, were made to eight applicants and will add 13 new hydrogen fueling locations in Northern California and 15 in Southern California, strategically located to create a refueling network along major corridors and in regional centers.

HyFive hydrogen infrastructure gets $51M boost across Europe

Fri, Apr 4 2014

"High five!" was one of the catch-phrases of Sacha Baron Cohen's Kazakh comedic alter ego Borat. A real-world HyFive is being announced by a power broker named Boris. And this is serious business. London Mayor Boris Johnson has announced a program called HyFive, which will see automakers and other entities invest 31 million British pounds ($51 million US) in a demonstration project for hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles. By next year, London will have three hydrogen refueling stations, while there will be one each in the Danish cities of Aarhus and Odense and one in Innsbruck, Austria. Leaders of the program are planning for other stations in Sweden, Germany and Italy. The five participating automakers are BMW, Mercedes-Benz parent Daimler, Honda, Hyundai and Toyota, while other companies involved include Copenhagen Hydrogen Network, ITM Power and Linde. Those OEMs will make 110 fuel-cell vehicles available for deployment in Bolzano, Copenhagen, Innsbruck, London, Munich and Stuttgart. The program represents an effort to address the "chicken or egg?" challenge inherent to establishing a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle market. While the powertrain technology provides benefits by combining fossil-fuel-like refueling times with long driving ranges and zero emissions, establishing a refueling network and building fuel-cell vehicles is prohibitively expensive, especially in low volumes. The London mayor is no stranger to green transportation technology. Late last year, Johnson made himself available for a photo opportunity with Ecotive and Frazer-Nash, which had developed a six-passenger extended-range plug-in taxicab. The mayor got a test drive in the cabs this week. You can check out the HyFive press release below. Global leaders sign up to GBP31m plan to demonstrate viability of hydrogen vehicles International project HyFive pioneers hydrogen fuel cell technology A pioneering GBP31 million deal will be struck today (3 April) to make hydrogen vehicles a viable and environmentally friendly choice for motorists across Europe. Leading motor manufacturers, hydrogen fuel suppliers, the Mayor of London's Office and energy consultancies from around the globe are signing up to the HyFive project, the largest of its kind in Europe, at City Hall in London today.

Toyota offered $146.5 million to build Lexus ES in Kentucky

Thu, 18 Apr 2013

Toyota posted a media advisory yesterday saying that Akio Toyoda, president of Toyota, and Jim Lentz, CEO of Toyota North America, would be making a production announcement tomorrow in New York City, and Automotive News reports that the automaker will be announcing a plan to domestically produce the Lexus ES. According to the report, numerous plants are competing to build the ES in North America, and the State of Kentucky has offered the automaker up to $146.5 million to build the luxury sedan at the Georgetown, KY assembly plant.
If Georgetown gets the ES, which has been built in Japan since its debut in 1989, it would be built alongside the Toyota Camry, which is somewhat ironic since in our review of the 2013 Lexus ES350, we wrote that this ES finally says "goodbye to its Camry roots." In order to get the whole amount offered, the article states that Toyota would have to invest $531.2 million and hire 570 full-time workers at the plant, which doesn't sound all that unreasonable since the plant would require an additional 50,000 units of annual production, not to mention the fact that the Georgetown facility is already at its capacity for building the Camry.
