Has a couple of dents. Will fill-out/correct the details of this post as we go. Front dent is from a fat kid just leaning on the car. Not sure where back dent came from. Automatic transmission (not stick).
I basically want a no-drama sale, so going to put all info up here I can, then deal with no-drama folks who need a solid ride. My buddy has taken it to LA a couple of times, I took it to Nevada City a couple months ago, etc. -- thing is unstoppable.
To me, this is a $10k car in a $3k car body. It's just never given me any drama -- save for a dead-ish battery after I left the lights on one night -- it's got a new battery now within the last year. I bought the car off my buddy a couple of years ago for $7k.
It's got about 180k miles -- I'll update this as soon as I check the odometer.
There are dents in the front and rear driver-side quarterpanels. If they weren't there I'd try to get $20,000 for the car instead of $4,000. ok, kidding, but you get the point.
I used it to do a Sidecar (side.cr) ride the other day -- kinda cool.
There is a loud-ish rumbling noise that has something to do w/ the steering/turning. Driving fast it gets kinda loud -- turn left and it goes away about completely, turn right and it gets louder. I just never took it to the garage, but was driving like that when I bought it and it still seems fine, so...I'll leave that up to you.
Radio and CD player and speakers are all fine.
I live in Japantown, on N 7th St., between Taylor and Mission. You can drive by anytime you like and check it out -- most of the time it's parked on 7th on the West/South side of the street. Sometimes might not be there b/c I'm out cruising and listening to my Spanish language CDs, or doing an interview in some gosh-forsaken office park in Foster City.
A/C works fine - I use it constantly.
One/some of the a/c control panel lights goes out occasionally. I noticed a trunk light was kinda hanging down today, but that was weird - not sure what to make of it. I've been driving it to SF a good bit recently. Does fine.
We'll set up a time during the day, you can come by, test drive it with me, I'll fill you in on anything you wanna know, decide if you like it, gimme the cash and I'll sign over the pink slip. Easy. I will find the pink slip again today sometime (it's currently hella early, Saturday morning, Oct 5).
I think it's 185,000 miles. I think. Says on odometer.
I'm negotiable but if there's strong demand I'm gonna be firm on price.
If any questions, please let me know and I'll email you back and update this ad.
Thanks so much!

Ford tumbles to second worst in Consumer Reports reliability survey, list dominated by Japanese [w/video]
Mon, 29 Oct 2012It's no secret that MyFord Touch has had its share of problems since being introduced, but the most recent reliability survey from Consumer Reports shows just how much this infotainment system has affected Ford. Just two years ago, the automaker was in the top 10 for the institute's reliability rankings, but since then, it has tumbled to the second-lowest rung just above dead-last Jaguar. In addition to MyFord Touch, CR also attributes a handful of new products that have had issues right out of the gate.
Compiled from 1.2 million subscriber surveys, this year's auto reliability survey heavily favors Japanese automakers, with eight of the 10 spots hailing from Japan. Toyota brands grabbed the top three spots (Scion, Toyota and Lexus - in that order) with Mazda, Subaru, Honda and Acura filling the next four spots. The only non-Asian automaker cracking the top 10 was Audi at number eight.
Audi climbed a total of 18 spots from last year, and Cadillac and GMC round out this year's top gainers breaking into the top 15. Helping Cadillac's upward movement, the CTS Coupe was named the most reliable domestic car. Lincoln, Volvo and Chrysler join Ford on this year's biggest loser list.
Toyota, Honda, Mazda and Nissan recall 3.4 million vehicles for faulty airbags
Thu, 11 Apr 2013Most vehicle recalls that take place these days are a result of some problem that happens during the manufacturing process by the automaker, but as we see here, parts suppliers can also factor in to problematic safety issues. Automotive News is reporting that a total of 3.4 million vehicles produced by Japanese automakers between 2000 and 2004 are being recalled globally due to faulty airbags produced by an outside supplier, Takata Corp.
According to the report, vehicles from Toyota, Honda, Nissan and Mazda are being recalled because of passenger front airbags that do not inflate properly. Globally, Toyota is said to be recalling around 1.73 million cars including 510,000 in the US composed of Toyota Corolla, Matrix, Sequoia and Tundra as well as the Lexus SC430 for the 2001 through 2003 model years; this is the second time this year the 2003 Corolla and Matrix have been recalled for an airbag problem. Honda is recalling 1.14 million models, Nissan another 480,000 and Mazda 45,463. The article says that Takata supplied faulty airbags to non-Japanese automakers, but it did not specify which ones.
Honda and Toyota have released information on their own websites about the recall, while Nissan and Mazda have not yet commented. Read official press releases from Honda and Toyota, below, and look for updates as we have word from the others.
Japanese automakers will seriously subsidize hydrogen fuel stations
Wed, Jul 1 2015Fresh off the announcement of the EPA-rated fuel economy and range figures for the Toyota Mirai, three of Japan's major automakers are throwing their weight behind hydrogen on the other side of the Pacific. Toyota, Nissan, and Honda are detailing their partnership in Japan to subsidize the creation of an expanded FCV refueling infrastructure there in the coming years. The plan could provide a much-needed boost for goals that are already looking to miss their targets. The partnership, which is called the Joint Hydrogen Infrastructure Support Project, is subsidizing a third of the annual operating expenses up to a maximum of 11 million yen ($90,000) for any hydrogen refueling station that applies and is accepted into the program. For now, the automakers plan to keep this running through around 2020. Toyota senior managing officer Kiyotaka Ise tells Bloomberg the whole thing over that time is expected to cost 5 billion to 6 billion yen ($40.5 million to $49 million). In addition to the money, the companies are trying to raise awareness about the alternative fuel to build popularity. Japan has been pushing extremely hard to build the FCV market there for quite some time by subsidizing both the models and building refueling stations for them. By the 2020 Olympics, the country's goal is to have 6,000 fuel cell vehicles on the roads and possibly even 100,000 of them by 2025. The cars to fulfill these lofty hopes are just gaining steam, though. For example, the Mirai is already experiencing high demand, and Honda is set to bring its new challenger in 2016. This announcement says Nissan is aiming a potential entry for 2017, as well. According to Bloomberg, the fuel cell industry in Japan is forecasted to balloon from 400 million yen (3.3 million) in the current fiscal year to 100 billion ($813 million) by 2025. Toyota, Nissan, and Honda Agree on Details of Joint Support for Hydrogen Infrastructure Development Toyota Motor Corporation, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., and Honda Motor Co., Ltd. have agreed on key details regarding a new joint support project for the development of hydrogen station infrastructure in Japan. In addition to partially covering the operating costs of hydrogen stations, the three automakers have also agreed to help infrastructure companies deliver the best possible customer service and create a convenient, hassle-free refueling network for owners of fuel cell vehicles (FCVs).
