THESE LIFTBACKS ARE VERY HARD TO FIND THIS CLEAN AND IN THIS OPERABLE FACTORY CONDITION . AS STATED I STILL DRIVE IT DAILY AND THE MILES WILL CONTINUE TO GO UP. THE PAINT JOB IS FADED AS YOU CAN SEE IN CERTAIN AREAS, BUT WITH A LITTLE TLC / SOME NEW PAINT WILL MAKE THIS CAR VERY NICE . UNDER HOOD ENGINE BAY PAINT STILL SHINES JUST DUSTY DIRTY. ALSO I WANTED TO SAY THIS CAR IS NOT ORIGINALLY FROM NEBRASKA , JUST BY LOOKING AT THE ALMOST RUST FREE BODY. I HAVE A WASHINGTON CLEAR TITLE IN HAND READY TO TRANSFER TO NEW OWNER. IN MY OPINON ITS A VERY SOLID CAR / CHASSIS / BODY & FLOORS . MABE 1-3% RUST IF ANY, EVERYONE PLEASE CONSIDER & KEEP IN MIND MOST BATTERY BOXES/TRAYS OR EVEN FRAME AREA RADIATOR SUPPORT GETS RUSTED REAL BAD FROM BATTERY ACID AND BATTERY TRAY CANNOT BE REMOVED DUE TO BOLTS ATE UP BY ACID. NOT THIS TOYOTA AS SEEN IN PIC BATTERY TRAY REMOVED WITH EASE TO SHOW A RUST FREE SOLID FRAME UNDERNEATH BATTERY SECTION AREA OF CAR, MEANING BOLTS WILL REMOVE WITH EASE THROUGH OUT ENTIRE CAR FOR EASY MAINTENANCE THROUGH OUT THE YEARS OF OWNERSHIP. Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race Scion FR-S [w/video]
Thu, 07 Mar 2013Toyota has been hosting its Pro/Celebrity race at the Toyota Grand Prix on Long Beach since 1977. The charity event, which has raised millions of dollars over the years, traditionally pits Hollywood celebrities against professional athletes (including race car drivers) on the full Grand Prix course in modified street vehicles. The short, sprint-style race is popular with the crowds as the amateur drivers race uninhibited - the result is an action-packed race with plenty of excitement and automotive... er... carnage.
Over the decades, the drivers have raced a variety of Toyota products including last year's front-wheel-drive Scion tC. But this year, Toyota announced at the Chicago Auto Show that the new rear-wheel-drive Scion FR-S would be stepping up to the plate. The good news only became better when Toyota Motorsports invited us out to Southern California's Willow Springs Raceway (the same circuit where the drivers train and practice) to be one of the first behind the wheel.

Even Ferrari swept up in latest Takata recall expansion
Fri, May 27 2016The scope of Takata's deadly airbag problems continues to widen. Eight manufacturers announced recalls Friday that affect more than 12 million vehicles, according to documents filed with federal regulators. The automakers include Honda, which is recalling 4.5 million units, Fiat Chrysler with 4.3 million, Toyota with 1.65 million, and Subaru, which is recalling almost 400,000. Some of these cars include the Saab 9-2x and Pontiac Vibe that Toyota and Subaru made for General Motors. Mazda will recall 730,000 vehicles and Nissan has 400,000 affected units. The smallest numbers were posted by Mitsubishi, with 38,000 Lancers manufactured from 2006 to 2007, and as a noteworthy high-end manufacturer, Ferrari is calling back 2,800 vehicles. These are all US-market cars. Beyond America, the Japanese Transport Ministry has announced seven million additional vehicles will be recalled, which means 19.6 million vehicles across the globe are affected by recalls announced. The defects have been traced to an insufficiently manufactured airbag inflator, which lacks a drying agent that would prevent the inflators from deteriorating over time. Thirteen deaths have been linked to the faulty airbags, which have become unstable and are prone to exploding and showering vehicle occupants with lethal amounts of metal shrapnel. A private equity firm, KKR & Co., has been named in a possible buyout of the struggling Takata. Japanese dealer petitioning Lexus for luxury van [w/poll]
Thu, 13 Mar 2014Used to be that if you wanted a luxury automobile - especially one to be chauffeured around in - your choices were basically limited to a sedan. It could be bigger or smaller, more or less expensive, depending on your needs and budget, but it was always going to have four doors and a trunk. But these days the rich and famous are looking elsewhere for their commodious forms of pampering transportation. There are, of course, the crossovers and SUVs, which only seem to be getting bigger and more expensive thanks to the likes of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Range Rover L and upcoming Bentley sport-ute. But luxury vans are becoming the new big thing.
That's the point that one dealer in Japan is trying to make to Toyota. The dealership owner himself reasons that if he's going out on the town, he's likely to take his chauffeured Lexus LS. But if he's taking a few friends along, even the biggest sedan isn't going to cut it. So he takes a Toyota Alphard (pictured above, also known as the Vellfire), a JDM van that's even bigger than a Voxy/Noah or Sienna but hardly a high-end affair. That's why he's asking Lexus to make a luxury van.
The idea may seem a little far-fetched, but isn't without precedent. It didn't take much for Lexus to transform the Land Cruiser into the LX and thus create its first luxury SUV. And as Mercedes has shown with pimped-out versions of the Sprinter and now with the debut of the new V-Class in Geneva, there's clearly a market for it... in some countries, anyway. The only question in our minds is how long it's going to take other luxury automakers to catch on, because let's face it: the Chrysler Town & Country ain't gonna cut it for those used to be driven around in a Maybach.
