1980 Toyota Corolla coupe
66.000 actual miles  ( one owner car ) from California
no rust.. runs good..

NO RESERVE .. HIGHEST BIDDER WILL OWN IT.

Up for sale is a 1980 Toyota Corolla.. this car was owned by an older lady since new,  it still has the original title from 1980... she donated the car to the charity.. i purchased it from the charity... i dont have the room to keep it.. i have too many toys and angry neighbors. thats why im selling it.. this is a no reserve auction and highest bidder will own the car.. i have not seen a nicer older toyota coupe this clean for a long time... and especially with the original paint , no rust and garaged..

the exterior is in great shape for its age.. paint is original ... all windows are in good shape.. all moldings , and chrome trims are intact and in good shape.. right front fender is dented .. theres no rust whatsoever..  all lights work fine.. its a garaged car..

the interior is also clean with wear showing on the driver seat.. and also passenger seat side... the carpets are clean.. dash has no cracks .. all gauges work fine... manual windows.. automatic transmission.. original radio.. very original car..  the trunk area carpet shows minor wear.. spare tire.. jack and tools have never been used..look like new..

Mechanically the car is in good shape for its age.. when i bought it , i had the carburetor completely rebuilt and its starts right up and runs good.. but could use re adjusting to be perfect.. my carb guy isn't that good anymore..  the engine bay is very clean.. there's no leaks..  engine runs good with no extra noises.. muffler gets bit noisy at times..  drives straight and solid. brakes well. no pulling .. . i would suggest 2 new tires in the front and re adjust the carb which is not a big deal.. battery is new..  transmission shifts perfectly fine through all gears..   its a low mile gently driven toyota . grandma owned and garaged all its life.. with a little bit of TLC and some minor repairs, you could have yourself a car for years..    i have too many toys and not enough space...

i can assist you with shipping if needed... if you have any questions or offers.. please feel free to contact me at (818) 731-1709... or email..  car has current registration till 2014...  California buyers will need to smog this car.. i guarantee nothing on a 33 year old car..

terms of sale... winning bidder to please pay 20% deposit within 24hrs of close.. and balance to be paid within 5 days.. PayPal users welcome!!!!!!

Subprime financing on the rise in new car sales, leasing too

Fri, 07 Dec 2012

We all remember the financial crisis that began several years back. At its core was a splurge of subprime lending for housing loans. The housing bubble burst, triggering a collapse of the mortgage-backed securities market. Apparently, those types of loans still exist in the automotive industry, and the market share for these types of "nonprime, subprime, and deep subprime," loans has grown 13.6 percent compared to the third quarter a year ago.
According to an Automotive News report, high-risk lending expanded to 24.8 percent of total loans in Q3, up from 21.9 percent for this time last year. As this level increased, average credit scores of borrowers dropped to 755, down from 763 a year ago. In that time, the average financing amount increased $90 per vehicle, to $25,963.
At 818, Volvo maintains the highest per-owner credit score, while Mitsubishi has the lowest, at 694. The highest rate of borrowers was at Toyota, with 14 percent of the market, followed by Ford with 13.1 percent and Chevrolet at 11.1.

GM, Ford, Honda winners in 'Car Wars' study as industry growth continues

Wed, May 11 2016

General Motors' plans to aggressively refresh its product lineup will pay off in the next four years with strong market share and sales, according to an influential report released Tuesday. Ford, Honda, and FCA are all poised to show similar gains as the auto industry is expected to remain healthy through the rest of the decade. The Bank of America Merrill Lynch study, called Car Wars, analyzes automakers' future product plans for the next four model years. By 2020, 88 percent of GM's sales will come from newly launched products, which puts it slightly ahead of Ford's 86-percent estimate. Honda (85 percent) and FCA (84 percent) follow. The industry average is 81 percent. Toyota checks in just below the industry average at 79 percent, with Nissan trailing at 76 percent. Car Wars' premise is: automakers that continually launch new products are in a better position to grow sales and market share, while companies that roll out lightly updated models are vulnerable to shifting consumer tastes. Though Detroit and Honda grade out well in the study, many major automakers are clumped together, which means large market-share swings are less likely in the coming years. Bank of America Merrill Lynch predicts the industry will top out with 20 million sales in 2018 and then taper off, perhaps as much as 30 percent by 2026. Not surprisingly, trucks, sport utility vehicles and crossovers will be the key battlefield in the next few years, Car Wars says. FCA will launch a critical salvo in 2018 with a new Ram 1500, followed by new generations of the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra in 2019, and then Ford's F-150 for 2020, according to the study. Bank of America Merrill Lynch analyst John Murphy said the GM trucks could be pulled ahead even earlier to 2018, prompting Ford to respond. "This focus on crossovers and trucks is a great thing for the industry," Murphy said. Cars Wars looks at Korean (76 percent replacement rate) and European companies more vaguely (70 percent), but argues their slower product cadence and lineups with fewer trucks puts them in weaker positions than their competitors through 2020. How Toyota's Le Mans racer may make its next Prius even better

Fri, Jun 20 2014

The supercapacitor technology in the Toyota TS040 "offers great possibility for production car use." – Amanda Rice, Toyota Pop-culture junkies familiar with 1980s touchstone movies will hear the word "capacitor" and think Back to the Future. But the concept of supercapacitors being used in upcoming production models is being pushed by Toyota, not DeLorean. And because of that push, the future might look a little brighter for the Prius. The Japanese automaker will likely apply electric-motor technology used in Toyota's 24 Hours of Le Mans entry – the TS040 – in future versions of the world's best-selling hybrid, Australian publication Drive.com.au says, citing an interview with Toyota Motor Sports' Yoshiaki Kinoshita. Specifically, the racecar uses supercapacitors because they're effective at storing energy created when the vehicle is under braking, only to quickly redistribute it on demand for rapid acceleration. Kinoshita said Toyota may apply this technology to the Prius within the next five years. While declining to comment on specifics, Toyota spokeswoman Amanda Rice tells AutoblogGreen that the Le Mans vehicle "represents an advanced vehicle laboratory for hybrid vehicle and component development. The supercapacitor technology used in this vehicle with its fast charge and discharge capability offers great possibility for production car use." In her email, Rice added that the next-generation Prius will have smaller electric motors with greater power density and thermal efficiency, so let's add that to what we know or think we know about the fourth-generation model. Toyota entered two vehicles in this year's Le Mans race, and one of them had secured the pole-position and was leading much of the race before calling it quits 15 hours in because of electrical issues. Audi ended up winning the race, marking its 13th victory in the history of the French endurance contest.
