I have a show condition 1979 Toyota Corolla (sport coupe) that has been treated to a nice babied life over the years.I cannot express how cool & clean this car is for a 30 year old Toyota,The color is a mild yellow ( a very nice job) with black cloth interior all in great condition, the dash has a few cracks which is common in these cars . The body is nice and straight with a slick quality paint job, the inner & outter wheel wells.firewall, undercarriage all have been painted ,the bumpers have just been re-chromed.. Hard to find Toyota in this condition, with minor blemishes that have to be looked for.I bought the car & added the wheels they are ol school American Racing daisy narrow front/ wider rears with like new tires,I will also throw in the weld racing wheels with car. The motor looks to be fresh and dry,as I can see the head has double valve springs and the intake ports have been ported & polished, the ports are as big as can be.I installed the double weber set up with chrome intake(rare) it looks great I have over $800 invested in the carb & intake.,I have not tuned it since installed, the car does come with the single carb (weber) intake set up.I also have billet ,pulleys, chrome valve cover, fuel regulator misc parts that can be part of the deal. The engine is strong has a nice new exhaust system,a performance clutch that pulls hard, a overall beautiful Toyota that is a head turner, comes equipped with add-on power windows,a nice air horn and also has aftermarket HID HEAD LIGHTS,looks and sounds great. Alot of time & money is invested in this little cruiser. The car is solid but it is a 30 yr old vehicle sold as is where is. I will probably regret selling but too many projects & limited space so someone will get a awesome ol skool Toyota that will only go up in value. Thanks for looking ,check my feedback,I am a no nonsense car guy, come & inspect the car is located about 10 min from Wrigley Field Chicago home of the Chicago Cubs. Ron 773-878-3000 mon-fri 8-6.

Toyota moving US headquarters to Plano, Texas
Mon, 28 Apr 2014It's official, Toyota is relocating its US operations to Plano, TX. And it won't be a symbolic 'all ranch and no cattle' gesture - the Japanese automaker, whose headquarters have been in California since 1957, has decided to base nearly all of its operations in the Lone Star State, including much of its engineering, finance and sales and marketing teams.
The move, which will see the establishment of a new headquarters campus in the Dallas suburb will not only affect employees at the company's current Torrance, CA Toyota Motor Sales USA campus, it will also touch the lives of thousands of employees at the company's other operations, including 1,000 workers at Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America in Erlanger, KY and some New York-based staff as well. The Toyota Technical Center in Ann Arbor, MI is not facing relocation, however, and it actually stands to gain responsibilities as Toyota overhauls its US org chart. Toyota says that its reorganization will affect about 4,000 employees in total.
According to Automotive News, while Toyota is adopting an "'everyone is invited' stance for the relocation," some attrition is expected from employees who aren't interested in relocating southward from the Golden State. For its part, the automaker is reportedly making expenses-paid visits to Plano available to full-time staffers and spouses to help them make the relocation decision, as well as a lump-sump payment if they decide to go through with the move.
PickupTrucks.com's latest test results in a familiar winner [w/video]
Wed, 19 Jun 2013PickupTrucks.com has gone and thrown the latest batch of half-ton pickups into a cage match to see who would come out on top. The site put the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2013 Ford F-150, Ram 1500, Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan through a battery of tests. Those included 0-60 miles per hour acceleration, 60-0 mph deceleration, fuel economy, a hill climb, and payload and towing. They even threw the rigs on an autocross course to evaluate overall handling. Each truck was given points based on how it scored in each evaluation.
Who came out on top? Somewhat surprisingly, the 2013 Ford F-150 walked away with the gold, though fewer than 50 points separated first and fourth place. Head over to PickupTrucks.com to read the full evaluation and the final results. You may be shocked to see exactly where some of the segment's newest additions placed. You can also watch a video on the test below.
New drifting world record set in Toyota GT86
Wed, 30 Jul 2014We have entered a drifting arms race. Last year, BMW smashed the Guinness World Record for the longest drift by hanging the tail out for 51.3 miles around a wet skid pad in an M5 at the BMW Performance Driving School in South Carolina. That beat the previous milestone of nearly seven miles. Now, Bimmer's record is up in smoke as well and is in the possession of a Toyota.
German driver Harald Müller pummeled the old record to drift for 89.55 miles around a 0.15-mile (235.5-meter) course in Samsun, Turkey, in a Toyota GT86 (or Scion FR-S as it's known in the US). According to the Guinness World Records website, it took him 612 laps and 2 hours, 25 minutes and 18 seconds to manage the achievement. Sit back to watch a few minutes of the German's two and a half hours behind the wheel with the tail out.
