Excellent, and rare completely stock 1986 Toyota Celica GT-S Liftback with a low 132k miles. 135hp 2.0 liter 3S-GE engine with 5speed transmission. This very clean and sharp Celica has been extremely well maintained and shows very nicely. Here are some of the highlights:
-Original California vehicle that has very little rust on it. The underside of this car is extra clean with no rust on the floor boards.
- Original leather front and rear seats have been covered with custom made simulated leather covers tailored just for these seats in the original blue color. Very nice and they give new life to the interior.
- Carpets in excellent shape. No cracks in original dash board. New leather steering wheel cover and shift boot.
- Top of car above white side stripe has been recently repainted original blue due to faded clear coat.
-New windshield.
- New resonator and stock style replacement muffler.
-Timing belt and water pump replaced at 98K miles
- New rear pads and rotors.
- AC converted to R134A, and blows nice and cold.
- A/M F/M CD player with new front speakers.
- New stock size 205/60R14 replacement tires on stock GT-S Wheels.
- Recent plugs, cap, rotor and wires.
-New front and rear KYB struts
- New right front axle.
- New radiator
- New battery
- Everything works: Power door locks, windows, auto climate control and cruise control.
- Many new spare parts: Factory new starter motor, new OEM manifold heat shield, new OEM coolant bottle.
- Drives straight and smooth on the highway. Very nice to cruise in. Gets around 27 MPG in town.
- Transmission shifts well, though 2nd gear can be a little balky at times. This apparently is common on this type of vehicle. It has never been an issue for me while driving it. Clutch is in good shape with no slippage.
- Engine is all original with excellent compression. It does leak and burn a little oil. Mostly on start up due to valve guide seals typical of vintage cars this age. The auction does include an ATK re-manufactured complete cylinder head with all valve train components and cams. I had originally planned on installing this, but found the car ran so good, that I would just add a little oil from time to time.
- This car has been my daily driver in nice weather for the last 3 years. I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere, and it does have a current inspection sticker. It pains me to sell it, but I needed to get a vehicle I could drive in the winter  and in the salt, which I was not willing to do with this car because it is so clean. Someone will be gaining a very nice,  unique and rare car, with Toyota legendary reliability.
This car is also for sale locally, and I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. Please no international bidders, or bidders with negative feedback. No 0 feedback bidders. Please no SCAMS. $500 paypal deposit due within 2 days of auction end. Payment balance due in cash or bank cashiers check 7 days from auction end. Vehicle shipping winning bidders responsibility. Toyota ready to design more heart-racing Prius

Sat, Jan 25 2014

Long praised for its fuel economy and reliability, the Toyota Prius has been no stranger to less-than-flattering remarks about its styling and sense of excitement. In fact, the model is a regular movie punchline. For evidence, see Mark Wahlberg in The Other Guys or, more recently, Ice Cube in Ride Along. Apparently, Toyota President Akido Toyoda is getting the message and is pushing for what's been translated as a more "heart-racing" design for both the Prius and the Camry, the Canadian website Driving says. The Camry and Prius accounted for about a third of Toyota's US sales last year. With the Camry as the best-selling US model for each of the last dozen years, Toyota US head designer Kevin Hunter noted at the Detroit Auto Show last week that the Japanese automaker is looking for a "more emotional" design for the boxy sedan. The Prius redesign may have more constraints, as aerodynamics have to be factored in to ensure top-line fuel economy for the world's best-selling hybrid. Toyota used the Detroit show to show off the FT-1, a concept that many consider a preview of the new Supra. How this "Future Toyota 1" will affect the Prius and Camry redesigns, whenever they appear, remains in question but we like where things are headed.

Jim Lentz exposes more details behind Toyota's move to Texas

Fri, 02 May 2014

Toyota's North American CEO Jim Lentz has already given us a rough idea of what prompted the company's surprise move to the Dallas suburb of Plano, TX from its longstanding headquarters in Torrance, CA. A new story from The Los Angeles Times, though, delivers even more detail from Lentz on the reasoning for the move, what other cities were considered and why the company's current host city wasn't even in the running.
Of course, one of the more popular reasons being bandied about includes the $40 million Texas was set to give the company for the move, as well as the state's generous tax rates. According to Lentz, though, the reason Toyota chose Plano over a group of finalists made up of Atlanta, Charlotte and Denver, was far simpler than that - it was about consolidating its marketing, sales, engineering and production teams in a region that's closer to the company's seat of manufacturing in the south.
"It doesn't make sense to have oversight of manufacturing 2,000 miles away from where the cars were made," Lentz told The Times. "Geography is the reason not to have our headquarters in California."
