1995 Toyota Celica 4agze Supercharged on 2040-cars
Oakland, California, United States
This is a 1995 Celica ST hatchback that I completely converted to a JDM Supercharged Celica. I have up converted everything starting from the tire package, motor/tranny, suspension, lights, electronics, performance accessories, and much much more that is listed down below. The list speaks for itself. The car, last time dynoed, was pushing 250hp, at the wheel.
Everything under the hood is about 150,000 miles, as the motor and tranny came off of a half-cut imported from Japan which read about 44,000 kilometers Jarco, in Atlanta, GA, when I purchased it 5 years ago. Me and this car must simply part ways. This is a project car and requires TLC, time, and money to keep up with optimal performance. The clutch (1st gear) has given in, hence the list price being so low. Replacing it would cost approximately $500, so the list price is still very fair. Modification include: 4agze AE101 engine swap from a half-cut JDM 7afe transmission Phantom Grip Limited Slip Differential Stage 3 Spec clutch Custom front mount intercooler Magna-Core spark plug wires NGK spark plugs 440cc RC Fuel Injectors Walbro 255LPH Supra fuel pump Toda Cams and valve springs installed Replaced valve cover gasket 176mm Diabolique Oversized crank pulley Replaced main and rod bearings Recently replaced lower timing belt All oil changes and maintenance made when needed Enkei RS6 18" rims with tires (95% tread) Lifetime warranty included on all tires at any Discount Tire shop Front and rear sway bars Headers taped- extra header tape is included JDM tail lights Apexi S-AFC II installed in glove box 2 1/4" Magnaflow exhaust w/ muffler Tein SS Coil over Kit w/ Camber bolt kits Drilled and slotted rotors w/ platinum brake pads Exhaust temp. and Boost gauge installed (Air-Fuel and Oil Pressure gauges included) JVC EXAD KD-AVX2 DVD/WMA/MP3/CD player (not included is the 3.5" LCD monitor head unit) 12" MB Quart subwoofer with ported box A4401Q 4 channel Audiobahn amp 2 channel Kenwood amp 2 x 6.5" Infiniti door speakers with 2x 1" Infiniti dome tweeters 2 x 6.5" Audiobahn rear speakers Dynomat laid in the hatchback Full functioning Stinger Amp Kit with XCS compasitator Cobra car alarm with keyless entry and remote 20 percent Platinum mirror tint (not on passenger window) JDM Short shifter All in all I have probably spent over $25,000 in mods and maintenance since starting on this project. I could get $2,500 for just the rims/tires, motor, cams, suspension.....I just don't have the desire to part this car out. This car belongs to someone who can put a little bit of TLC for a lot of performance power! Thanks for looking. |

Subaru to stop building Camry for Toyota in the US
Fri, 09 May 2014It was back in 2007 that Subaru of Indiana Automotive, under contract from Subaru minority shareholder Toyota, built the first Toyota Camry at its plant in Lafayette, Indiana. Rumblings of the end of that contract work have been around for a while, as Subaru talked of expanding capacity to build more units and add a line for the Impreza, and Toyota talked of moving Camry production to its Georgetown, KY plant. The news was official internally last November when SIA Executive Vice President Tom Easterday told the Louisville Courier-Journal that Camry production would end. Now, Automotive News reports that both automakers have admitted publicly that the end will come in 2016.
SIA currently has a 170,000-unit capacity devoted to the home-brand Legacy and Outback models, while a $400-million expansion increases that to 300,000 units to prepare the facility for Impreza production in two years. Freeing up the 100,000 units of production devoted to the Camry means a 400,000-unit capability, which is far more than Subaru needs at the moment, but the Toyota exit will allow it to expand any way it sees fit. Subaru has said it will absorb the workers on the Camry line and no jobs will be lost, the mayor of Lafayette saying the development could change the timetable for the expansion.
Autoblog Minute: UAW and FCA avoid strike, Clarkson teases new show
Fri, Oct 9 2015FCA avoids a worker strike, a former Top Gear host teases us with a picture from Amazon's new car show, and Toyota predicts autonomous cars by 2020. Autoblog senior editor Greg Migliore reports on this edition of Autoblog Minute Weekly Recap. Show full video transcript text [00:00:00] FCA avoids a worker strike, a former Top Gear host teases us with a picture from Amazon's new car show, and Toyota predicts autonomous cars by 2020. I'm senior editor Greg Migliore and this is your Autoblog Minute Weekly Recap. A UAW strike of FCA was avoided thanks to a zero-hour tentative agreement reached this week. Worker concerns that were renegotiated in the new [00:00:30] deal include adjustments to the two-tier wage scale, health care costs, and production outsourcing. Now check-in with Autoblog as we update our reports on this evolving story. Shooting began on Amazon Prime's new automotive show starring the former Top Gear crew. That's Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May. Now Clarkson threw out a tweet from day one of filming on location at Algarve Motor Park in Portugal. The picture features the show's [00:01:00] three stars and crew posing with the holy trinity of hyper cars. That's a McLaren P1, a Ferrari LaFerrari, and a Porsche 918 Spyder. This Prime show is being called Gear Knobs though the name is unofficial. Now if a tweet is any indication of what we can expect, who cares what it's called this is gonna be awesome. (Eds Note: Clarkson tweeted Friday that the show will not be called Gear Knobs.) Toyota predicts drivers could be obsolete on highways as early as 2020, with technology dubbed the Toyota Highway Teammate or THT. Toyota is using a modified [00:01:30] Lexus GS to show what this is capable of. THT is already able to create a driverless freeway car that's capable of changing lanes, making passes and taking curves. Plus, it can keep safe distances from other vehicles. Toyota is currently testing this on Tokyo's Shuto Expressway. Those are the highlights from the week that was. Be sure to check out my full recap this Saturday. And I'll have some added insight on the BMW M4 GTS. For Autoblog, I'm Greg Migliore. [00:02:00] Show Logo Autoblog Minute is a short-form video news series reporting on all things automotive. Each segment offers a quick and clear picture of what's happening in the automotive industry from the perspective of Autoblog's expert editorial staff, auto executives, and industry professionals.
Toyota explains what names like Camry and Yaris mean
Mon, 20 Oct 2014Ever wonder where automakers get the names for their cars? You're not alone. The sitcom Seinfeld opened Episode 94 - the one where George Costanza buys a Chrysler LeBaron instead of a Volvo - with a bit about nameplates like Integra, Supra and Impreza. Toyota, clearly, is not exempt from choosing evocative but enigmatic names for its models, and now the Japanese automaker is taking us through the etymology of some of its nameplates.
Names like Supra may require no clarification, but what about Camry? That comes from the Japanese word kanmuri for Crown (which is, incidentally, the name of another Toyota sedan).
Yaris? According to the company, it's "an amalgamation of words from Greek mythology and German. In Greek mythology, 'Charis' was a symbol of beauty and elegance. Toyota swapped the 'Ch' with 'Ya' - German for 'yes' - to symbolize the perceived reaction of European markets to the car's styling."
