You are looking at a 1988 Toyota Celica Lift Back All-Trac Turbo. I am a car collector. I got this for my collection. I had not had a chance to start the restoration. I have made a decision, because of lack of room an time.  I have decided to sell off a few cars. It actually is breaking my heart but I'm getting no younger and will probably be moving to a different state in a few years. anyway enough about me.  This Celica is a 88 celica All-Trac Turbo Charged All wheel drive.  These cars were the rarest, high tech, lowest production vehicles. That Toyota made at the time.  They cost more then the Supra at that time which was the highest price car for them.  These where unbelievable to drive. They are so fast for a Four cylinder and handle like you are on tracks because of the All wheel drive.  They all were well equipped as this one is. This car runs and drives Great. I have a decent eye for car that I want to collect and this one is no reject of mine. Trust me this is a must release definitely not a want to.  In these car's of this age rust is a issue. But not with this one it has two spots. Not in the normal prone areas. It has rust on the sunroof panel only which is a 4 bolt replaceable part.  Not on the sunroof opening area ever at all.  And one other spot only. On the windshield outer frame a tinny little bubble which can be repaired with iut removing the windshield. I have pictures of all of this. The car has one door ding very small which did not break the paint. That can be repaired by paintless dent repair. This car is really all that.  Please call me I will answer any questions that I can.  I also have Probably 75 more pictures that I can send you, just tell me what you would like to see.  I am not good at listing and I was only able to put 24 pictures.  This car does not leak anything at all. Not bearing noises in trans, engine, wheels steering or differentials. The car has no over heat issues. Brakes good. Handles good. Oil pressure at idle when fully wormed up is one third up from low. Turbo spools up perfectly as it should.  Car does not smoke at all or use oil. the car has never ever been painted on that I can tell. It is original paint.   I have all the pictures to prove to you.  I don't lye that's why I have over 700 feed backs at 100% positive. Never received anything but a positive Feed back. This is becoming boring to anyone who has made it this far.  So please mail or call me  Randell Carr 1-309-269-1203  There will be no disappointments.  This car is a totally unmolested car.  No speed equipment.  Stock and TOYOTA QUALITY

Supra successor may be all-electric sourced from Tesla; MR2 returning too?

Wed, 14 Nov 2012

Rumors of a revival of the Toyota Supra and MR2 have been swirling for years right up until just this week when high-level Toyota employees all but confirmed their return.
But now The Detroit Bureau has put together news from different sources suggesting that the next Supra might be all electric. The report cites recent comments from Toyota senior executives hinting at plans to work with Tesla on a new joint project. The FT-HS Concept (shown above) seems a logical inspiration for a new Supra.
And on the other side of the equation is Tesla's design chief Franz von Holzhausen who was quoted last year saying his company was looking at its next project, probably a sports car, that would follow next year's intro of the Model X. He went on to suggest the car would compete directly with BMW's 3 Series, which, in coupe form, could be a worthy competitor to a Supra as well.

Here are a few of our automotive guilty pleasures

Tue, Jun 23 2020

It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. The world is full of cars, and just about as many of them are bad as are good. It's pretty easy to pick which fall into each category after giving them a thorough walkaround and, more important, driving them. But every once in a while, an automobile straddles the line somehow between good and bad — it may be hideously overpriced and therefore a marketplace failure, it may be stupid quick in a straight line but handles like a drunken noodle, or it may have an interior that looks like it was made of a mess of injection-molded Legos. Heck, maybe all three. Yet there's something special about some bad cars that actually makes them likable. The idea for this list came to me while I was browsing classified ads for cars within a few hundred miles of my house. I ran across a few oddballs and shared them with the rest of the team in our online chat room. It turns out several of us have a few automotive guilty pleasures that we're willing to admit to. We'll call a few of 'em out here. Feel free to share some of your own in the comments below. Dodge Neon SRT4 and Caliber SRT4: The Neon was a passably good and plucky little city car when it debuted for the 1995 model year. The Caliber, which replaced the aging Neon and sought to replace its friendly marketing campaign with something more sinister, was panned from the very outset for its cheap interior furnishings, but at least offered some decent utility with its hatchback shape. What the two little front-wheel-drive Dodge models have in common are their rip-roarin' SRT variants, each powered by turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines. Known for their propensity to light up their front tires under hard acceleration, the duo were legitimately quick and fun to drive with a fantastic turbo whoosh that called to mind the early days of turbo technology. — Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski  Chevrolet HHR SS: Chevy's HHR SS came out early in my automotive journalism career, and I have fond memories of the press launch (and having dinner with Bob Lutz) that included plenty of tire-smoking hard launches and demonstrations of the manual transmission's no-lift shift feature. The 260-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder was and still is a spunky little engine that makes the retro-inspired HHR a fun little hot rod that works quite well as a fun little daily driver.

Even Ferrari swept up in latest Takata recall expansion

Fri, May 27 2016

The scope of Takata's deadly airbag problems continues to widen. Eight manufacturers announced recalls Friday that affect more than 12 million vehicles, according to documents filed with federal regulators. The automakers include Honda, which is recalling 4.5 million units, Fiat Chrysler with 4.3 million, Toyota with 1.65 million, and Subaru, which is recalling almost 400,000. Some of these cars include the Saab 9-2x and Pontiac Vibe that Toyota and Subaru made for General Motors. Mazda will recall 730,000 vehicles and Nissan has 400,000 affected units. The smallest numbers were posted by Mitsubishi, with 38,000 Lancers manufactured from 2006 to 2007, and as a noteworthy high-end manufacturer, Ferrari is calling back 2,800 vehicles. These are all US-market cars. Beyond America, the Japanese Transport Ministry has announced seven million additional vehicles will be recalled, which means 19.6 million vehicles across the globe are affected by recalls announced. The defects have been traced to an insufficiently manufactured airbag inflator, which lacks a drying agent that would prevent the inflators from deteriorating over time. Thirteen deaths have been linked to the faulty airbags, which have become unstable and are prone to exploding and showering vehicle occupants with lethal amounts of metal shrapnel. A private equity firm, KKR & Co., has been named in a possible buyout of the struggling Takata.
