1981 Toyota Celica Gt Sunchaser Convertible on 2040-cars

1981 Toyota Celica GT Sunchaser. When was the last time you saw one if ever? These were converted by Griffith of Florida from 79 to 81 for Toyota.

I purchased it from the 2nd owner. He had it since 2000 and he got it from the first owner who lived in San Diego, Ca. The car has two targa tops, and original one and a homemade one. The original owner had the top fly off on the freeway and was crushed so he had an aftermarket one made. I purchased an original one once I got the car. The interior was redone by the second owner and is in good shape although the carpet could be replaced from fading. The car does need a little body work and paint.

The car has many options for the car to include, AC which works but needs charged (because it is still R22 my mechanic saids it would be cheaper to convert it to R134 than to have it charged with the R22), Cruise control (doesn't currently work), Tilt wheel, and a tiltable drivers seat. I installed a Kenwood CD/Ipod control stereo, 4 new speakers, ADS 6 channel amp and a 12" Alpine sub. Sounds great driving down the freeway with the top down!
In Utah we have safety and emissions testing. When I got it inspected I had a complete tune up, O2 sensor,  and carb rebuild done. The carb is adjusted for high altitude elevation so you may have to adjust accordingly.

This is a fun little car that chances are you won't see another one around town.

Shipping is sole responsibility of the purchaser. Once payment has cleared the vehicle will be available for pickup. Once vehicle has been picked up I will mail title and extra keys.

Airbag recall adds 85k Pontiac Vibes to tally

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

The repairs needed for the faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata continue to expand. Toyota initially announced a recall of 766,300 vehicles equipped with the bad part on June 11 as a followup to a campaign from 2013. Soon after, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a preliminary evaluation into five automakers who also used the component in their models. Now, NHTSA has released the official announcement of the latest Toyota recall listing 844,277 affected cars, including the newly added 2003-2004 Pontiac Vibe.
While NHTSA's document didn't include a model-by-model breakdown, General Motors spokesperson Alan Adler estimated to Autoblog that roughly 85,000 Vibes in the US would be covered under the latest recall. Like the rest of the affected models, the airbag inflator could rupture in a crash causing the bag not to work correctly, possibly spraying metal fragments at the occupant.
Toyota spokesperson Cindy Knight told Autoblog that the reason for the disparity between the earlier press release and NHTSA document was that Toyota was continuing to comb through VINs to create a list of affected vehicles. The original number was an estimate of that process at the time. Scroll down to the recall report from NHTSA.

Toyota Camry, Honda Civic inventories mounting as US automakers make inroads

Thu, 11 Jul 2013

Two of the hottest-selling cars in America aren't quite as hot as they used to be. The Toyota Camry and Honda Civic are both seeing dealer supplies increase in the face of renewed competition from the much-improved Detroit Three.
According to a report from The Detroit News, the Camry's dealer inventory is 15 days higher than its seasonal average, while the Civic is 25 days above average. Things aren't expected to get better for Toyota and Honda, as RBC Capital Markets analyst Joseph Spak marked the two Japanese offerings as "at risk for reduced output."
The Detroit Three, meanwhile, are seeing supplies dwindle as demand increases, especially for the Ford Fusion, which has seen an 18-percent increase in 2013 sales, and the Chevrolet Cruze, which was second only to the Camry in June 2013 sales.

Watch the Muppets go for ice cream in a Toyota

Tue, 25 Feb 2014

Do Muppets drive? We're not sure it's necessarily a good idea, but it's been known to happen. Fozzy called his hibernating uncle's Studebaker a bear's "natural habitat," and Doctor Teeth wouldn't get the Electric Mayhem very far without his band's psychedelically painted school bus. But how about Rolf in a 2014 Toyota Highlander?
That's what we got a glimpse of in the run-up to the Super Bowl, and the same combination (plus one Rizzo the Rat) that features in this adorably ordinary video below. Ordinary because it's just a couple of guys going out for an ice cream. Adorable because, well... they're Muppets. See what we mean in the surprisingly entertaining two-minute clip below.
