It's time for me to part with my 1977 Toyota GT Celica. I am moving from Los Angeles to Austin and I have to leave her behind

With that being said, I must sell her, so my loss is your gain

This is a No Reserve Auction, she goes to the highest bidder

93,570k original miles on engine and body. The 20R Engine is rebuilt and in perfect running order. Matching #'s of course. 5 speed Transmission is shifting perfectly as well. There is spare radiator in the trunk that is fully functional but is missing the petcock. All together the car is running strong and is a fun drive. I love doing most of the work myself because it is so simple to deal with.

Cosmetically she is looking good. The interior leather is pretty much flawless and was completely restored. Everything is intact. The exterior is a gun metal gray with a single black racing stripe down the middle. The paint is in good shape and the body is just fine but could use some restoration when time allows. It is a 37 years old after all

AC works like it did in 1977. A lot of maintenance has been done to make sure it blows cold and strong. There is an updated sound system and CD Player installed to keep things a little modern hahaha

I go on long drives regularly with zero issues. I am going to miss the old school feel of this car, and I am going to miss all of the looks and thumbs up I get while with her.

1977 GT Celica is a rare find. I rarely have seen any for sale and I have only seen one other on the street but it was not a hard top like mine is. I personally like the hard top style. I added a few extra pictures to show some examples of what other people have done with her. Pretty Sweet

I am currently with the car in Los Angeles, CA. The pictures are from before I brought the car to California from Florida. She currently has CA plates and CA clean title. You are responsible for shipping and pick up but I can store the car for you and help arrange shipping. This is an AS IS No warranty sale. Please feel free to contact me with any questions any time. 562-833-2664 Thank you for looking, bidding, buying and good luck to you all.

Toyota unveils two new small displacement engines

Thu, 10 Apr 2014

Toyota introduced a pair of brand-new engines in Japan today, that it says will eventually spawn 14 different variants by 2015. Where these two engines stand out in today's world, is that neither mill boasts direct injection, and both are naturally aspirated.
The larger of the two is a 1.3-liter, while the smaller engine, a 1.0-liter, was developed in collaboration with Daihatsu. What makes these two unique is that they both use the Atkinson cycle. Now, we aren't going to bore you by explaining just what this is - there's Google for that. Suffice it to say, Atkinson engines are highly efficient, but that efficiency comes by sacrificing power. That's why they're so popular in hybrids, which can offset the power losses.
This focus on fuel efficiency extends throughout the new engines, which also benefit from tweaks like a cooled exhaust gas recirculation system and a trick intake port, while the 1.3 employs Toyota's iE variant of variable valve timing. Both engines can be fitted with stop-start tech. According to Toyota, when fitted with stop-start the 1.3 should provide around a 15-percent bump while the 1.0-liter will increase economy around 30 percent, when they arrive on the road.

Watch this video diary of a 900-hp Toyota Supra build

Sat, 08 Jun 2013

If you've ever looked at a car with nearly 1,000 horsepower and wondered why anyone needs that amount of thrust, you may want to take a look at the video below. In it, one gentleman details his descent into Toyota Supra madness, starting with a pristine factory example and stumbling down the rabbit hole of modification. What makes this particular clip interesting is just how honest the owner is as he explains the evolution of his car. He doesn't just prattle off a list of parts like he's reading the menu at an IHOP.
Instead, he painstakingly pulls us through the car's growth, detailing each iteration and what pushed him to the next stage of the build every time. From this point of view, it looks less like someone walked into a shop and lit a massive stack of $100 bills on fire and more like a quasi-logical progression of events. Or at least it does to me. You can check out the build in the video below, complete with plenty of Fast and the Furious references and racing. Win, win, win.

Toyota recalling select 2014 Camry and Avalon models

Thu, 06 Nov 2014

Toyota has announced a rather small voluntary recall, affecting 5,650 Avalon and Camry sedans from model year 2014. Both gas and hybrid models are included in the action.
This recall focuses on the left front lower suspension arm, which may have a bad bolt connecting it to the ball joint. If the car hits a big enough pothole - a real concern as we head into winter - or suffers a major impact, the two components could separate, at which point steering control would more or less vanish.
According to Toyota, there have been no crashes, injuries or deaths due to this problem. Toyota is notifying owners, who will need to report to dealers for a free replacement lower suspension arm.
