I am the second owner of this vehicle. I love it, but I recently got a dog and I want to sell before anything happens to the leather and get something that I won't have to worry about. I also want to be able to tow a boat, so it's time to move on. The brake pads on all 4 wheels were replaced and the oil was changed both within the last 200 miles. This is a VERY clean car. A couple items that must be disclosed in the interest of good selling practices... -The front spoiler (the clip-on piece at the bottom of the bumper) is broken near the middle. A snow plow pushed snow up against my car while it was in a parking lot. Nothing more than a piece of broken plastic resulted, the surrounding paint and bumper are fine. I was able to track down this part on ebay primed and ready for paint for $100. -There are several very small scratches on the passenger side rear door just under the chrome trim piece. They are only as deep as the clearcoat and could be touched up fairly easily. -The driver side sun visor fell off while I was driving, I found out that there is a recall for this. I may or may not take care of this before the sale is final, depending on whether or not I have time. Each of the above issues are shown up-close in the photos. Toyota recalling 800k Camry, Avalon and Venza models for AC issue
Thu, 17 Oct 2013Toyota has announced plans to voluntarily recall 803,000 vehicles from model years 2012 and 2013, over concerns with the air conditioning condenser housing. The recall covers the Camry, Camry Hybrid, Avalon, Avalon Hybrid and Venza, although the exact split between affected models wasn't available.
According to Toyota, the condenser can leak onto an airbag control module, which in turn could cause a short circuit. In most cases, this will just lead to an airbag warning light, but in rarer instances, the airbags could fail to deploy or pop out of their own accord. There's also a concern over a loss of power steering if the airbag control module develops a short.
It's unclear if there have been any injuries or crashes relating to the defects. Toyota will begin informing owners of affected vehicles via first class mail, and will ask them to report to dealerships for recall work, involving the installation of a cover on the condenser housing.
Toyota recalls 209,000 FJ Cruisers over seatbelt issue
Sat, 16 Mar 2013Toyota has announced that it will be issuing a substantial recall of the FJ Cruiser for a problem that could cause the front seatbelt retractors to separate from the vehicle body. This recall will apply to all FJ Cruisers - from 2007 through 2013 - totaling around 209,000 units.
The problem stems from the FJ Cruiser's pillarless door opening design that has the front-occupant seatbelts attached to the rear doors. Toyota says that when the rear doors are "repeatedly and forcefully closed," the retractor could completely separate from the door frame.
While there is no information about this recall from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration yet, Toyota says that there have been no accidents or injuries associated with this issue. No specific fix or recall date are given, but the official press release is posted below.
130,000 Toyota Tundra pickups recalled over airbag issue
Fri, 12 Sep 2014Toyota is announcing a recall for about 130,000 examples of the 2014 Tundra Tundra pickup in Crew-Max Cab and Double Cab configurations.
According to the company, the "garnish on the center pillars" inside the trucks might not have been installed correctly. If the vehicle were in an accident, the side curtain airbags could deploy in the wrong shape. Toyota says that it's not aware of any crashes, injuries or fatalities related to this potential problem.
To fix the issue, the pickups will have their interior center pillars inspected, and if faulty, the pieces will be replaced. Obviously, this will be done at no cost to owners. Scroll down to read the full announcement.
