Hi up for sale is my 1984 Toyota Camry LE Liftback.  This is a rare model of this car, I have only seen maybe one or two other lift-backs still driving around.  I currently drive this car 100 miles a day back and forth to work and am only getting rid of it since my employer is relocating me back into Manhattan so I no longer need to own a car.

I absolutely love this car.  I have previously owned an '84 Corolla and am very familiar with these cars and can attest to their reliability and how fun they are to drive.

This car is from California and was shipped over early in 2012 by the previous owner.  With that in mind she has little to no rust to be found and has almost all original equipment in working order.

Here is a log of what I have done to this car:

Purchase Date: 6/5/2012
Miles Driven: 16211
Average MPG: 31.41 (I track every tank of gas and this is an average since purchase)

49,500: Transmission Filter Replaced, Fluid Drain and Fill
49,500: Fuel Filter
49,500: Crafted Battery holder bar using threaded rod to replacce missing one
49,900: Drained and Filled Transmission Differential
50,500: Rear Windshield Wiper
50,863: Timing Belt, Crankshaft Seal, Camshaft Seal, Oil Pump Seal, Water Pump, Power Steering Belt, Alternator Belt, Radiator Cap
51,000: 2 New Tires, Balancing of all 4 tires, Wheel Alignment
52,000: Oil Change (10W-30) with Castrol High Mileage and Puralator Gold Filters
56,200 :Oil Change (10W-30) with Castrol High Mileage and Puralator Gold Filters - Transmission Drain and Fill
59,200: Replaced bad O2 Sensor, spark plugs (iridium replacements), PCV valve and Grommet
60,200 - Replaced Bad Thermostat and old Valve Grommets
61,200: Tire Rotation
61,200: Oil Change (10W-30) with Castrol High Mileage and Puralator Gold Filters - Transmission Drain and Fill
62,000: Drum brakes, pads and springs replaced
65,200: Air Filter
66,300: Replace master brake cylinder and bled entire system out (original brake cylinder will come with the car)
66,300: Oil Change (10W-30) with Castrol High Mileage and Puralator Gold Filters - Transmission Drain and Fill

The headliner is coming down in the back of the car.  I've meant to replace but haven't gotten around to it but, it seems to be holding up fine and hasn't fallen any more since I originally purchased it.  A replacement kit can be had for ~$100.

The distributor cap looks good and shows minimal wear which is why I never replace it.

All CV joints look good and show no signs of breaking.

Transmission shifts well and I have been changing out the fluid every time I do an oil change to keep fresh fluid in her.

There are small dings which are in my pictures but overall the paint is in great condition.

Coming with the car will be:

2 Puralator Gold Oil Filters
Box of Dorman Oil Plug Washers (note this car uses rubber washing instead of crush washers from the factory - IF YOU USE CRUSH WASHERS IT WILL SLOWLY LEAK OIL)
Set of 4 Rim Hubcaps (see the trunk picture below - I took them off because some of the clips are broken and as a result the caps make noise as you drive - replacement clips should fix the problem)
Toyota Factory Shop manual (Green Book in trunk Picture)
Haynes Repair Guide
Old Master Brake Cylinder (just pulled out of the car this week and replaced - I cleaned the old one and it can be reused if you get a rebuild kit)

I have attempted to list any deficiencies this car has.  The cruise control works great but on steep hills will downshift aggressively.  The power antenna as I said no longer works but I lift it up with my hand before driving. Econ and Power transmission modes still work.  Interior is in great condition aside from a few stains as noted in the pictures.  The exterior door handles are a little pitted but will clean up with some metal polish (see picture).

I hate to part with this car - but it is too hard to keep it parked where I live and it will better serve someone else.  I tend to get 2-3 compliments a month on the car it it really is a head turner - is is extremely rare to still see one of these rolling around.

Good luck and feel free to ask any questions.

2014 Toyota Prius crash test rating drops to four stars

Thu, Jan 16 2014

If nothing has changed, then how come something changed? That's the question behind the recent drop from five to four stars in the crash test rating for the Toyota Prius. As you can see on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website, the 2014 Prius gets four stars overall while the 2013 got five. The two cars are basically identical, so what gives? Toyota says it is not sure why NHTSA rated the Prius a four this time. Starting with the 2011 model year, NHTSA updated its rating system and says in a FAQ that vehicles that had four- or five-star ratings could get lower ratings "even if no changes have been made to the vehicle." Green Car Reports says that the issue is a new set of frontal barrier tests that were conducted on the 2014 Prius last month and that resulted in the first new bits of crash test data for the car in years. The 2012 and 2013 Prius models were rated based on tests done in February 2011 on a 2011 Prius. All of these are variants of the third-generation model. The next-gen Prius is expected in 2015. Jana Hartline, environmental communication manager at Toyota Motor Sales, USA, told AutoblogGreen that the company doesn't quite know what's going on with the drop in crash test scores: There have been no changes in the test standards and no changes in the car, other than minor reinforcement for small overlap crash test which we believe did not compromise integrity. We are not sure why it rated a 4 this time. We are looking at the test results and we are confident the new generation will move back to 5 stars. 2014 Prius still has a five-star rating for the side crash test and four in the rollover test. Which sinister Scion FR-S would you buy?

Tue, May 17 2016

Look beyond the utility. Look beyond the amenities, the infotainment, the hidden storage cubbies, and the 72-way adjustable seats. Yes, even the seats. Outside all the fluff of today's cars, there's a blank canvas waiting for an artist; cars can really come alive with a few tastefully placed modifications. These two Scion FR-S sports cars surely fall into that category, and when they both turned up on eBay, we figured we'd ask the question — which would you rather buy? The track-centric red car or the brutally simple black car ? Internet, you be the judge. The "widebody" look — with its outrageous fender flares and visible rivets—isn't for everyone, but this 2013 Scion FR-S happens to pull it off quite well. According to the listing, the pumped-up fenders, splitter, and additional aero bits are courtesy of legendary widebody purveyor Rocket Bunny. Overall, the racy body mods add a significant twinge of aggression to the once docile FR-S... a notion that's echoed underneath the hood. The heady Scion FR-S leverages an HKS supercharger system and exhaust, paired with a set of Buddy Club racing coilover shocks, Bee-R wheels wrapped in Yokohama ADVAN rubber, and a new engine management system. All in all, this looks to be one fierce track and street monster. RELATED: Check Out This Wild Toyota GT86 Wagon Concept But whereas the red car is a shout, the black car is a growl. Confident, powerful, yet restrained. The black 2013 Scion FR-S sports a sultry Varis Arising 2 body kit with carbon fiber accents lining its front lip and boot lid, as well as a brilliant set of projector headlights and Tom's taillights. The icing on the cake is the set of Work M1R gunmetal grey wheels, which come fitted with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. There's no supercharger in play here, but the Scion's 2.0-liter boxer engine does breathe a bit easer thanks new ceramic coated exhaust headers and a high-flow catalytic converter. It can also handle a bit better too, courtesy of sporty Cusco Street Zero 3 coilover shocks. If we're honest, both are quite jaw-dropping in their own unique styles. But which do you prefer? Toyota recalls 2016 RAV4, RX350, and ES350 for stability failure

Wed, Apr 6 2016

The Basics: Toyota will recall 4,170 examples of the 2016 RAV4, 90 units of the 2016 Lexus RX350, and 12,400 units of the 2016 ES350. The Problem: A component in the brake actuator assembly may have damage from a manufacturing error. The actuator controls the anti-lock brakes, traction control, stability control, and other systems. If the part doesn't work properly these safety systems might not activate properly. Accidents/Injuries: Toyota spokesperson Amanda Rice told Autoblog, "Regarding the recent recalls, alleged crashes, injuries, and fatalities are reported in many ways to many different organizations. We are not providing specifics at this time." The Fix: Dealers will check the brake actuator's serial number and will replace it if the part comes from a period when the damage could have happened. If you own one: Toyota will contact affected owners by mail. Related Video: TOYOTA RECALLS CERTAIN 2016 MODEL YEAR RAV4 AND LEXUS RX AND ES VEHICLES TORRANCE, Calif., April 6, 2016 – Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. today announced that it is recalling approximately 4,170 Model Year 2016 Toyota RAV4; approximately 90 Model Year 2016 RX350; and approximately 12,400 Model Year 2016 ES350. The involved vehicles are equipped with a Brake Actuator assembly that enables enhanced brake control functions including the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Traction Control (TRAC), and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), among others. There is a possibility that a component inside the actuator could have been damaged during manufacturing, preventing the actuator from operating properly. This could cause a loss of vehicle stability control, increasing the risk of crash. All known owners of the affected Toyota vehicles will be notified by first class mail. Toyota and Lexus dealers will check the serial number of the Brake Actuator and replace actuators assembled during a specific production period. Information about automotive recalls, including but not limited to the list of involved vehicles, is subject to change over time. For the most up-do-date Safety Recall information on Toyota, Lexus or Scion vehicles, customers should check their vehicle's status by visiting toyota.com/recall and entering the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Safety Recall inquiry by individual VIN is also available at the NHTSA site: safercar.gov/vin.
