That's right! High bidder takes it!. Up for bid is our 2005 Camry XLE. We purchased this vehicle 5 years ago when living in Georgia. We needed a reliable vehicle to make frequent trips home to Louisiana. The car is in really great condition and the only things I can point out that are not perfect are some worn areas on the carpet near the front seats, the normal small rock chips in the paint with any 8 year old car, some of the chrome plating on the button on the shifter is peeling, and the keyless entry remotes have recently stopped working (I changed batteries but maybe they need to be reprogrammed).

We purchased the car at a Toyota dealer in Georgia and it was a Certified Used Toyota. It was in a couple minor accidents requiring the rear bumper to be replaced but it now is in perfect condition and has a lifetime warranty on the paint in that area. The car runs and drives perfect.

If you are looking for a reliable vehicle this one is for you. We have never had a problem with it as we made countless trips from Atlanta to New Orleans and back. The miles are just about all highway and it has not seen a lot of stop and go traffic.

The car has new tires all around that were installed last month (receipt included). The brakes were replaced on all four corners at 100,000 miles. All regular scheduled maintenance has been done. All accessories are in working order.

I would like a $500 deposit via paypal with the remaining balance due within 7 days of the auctions end. Payment can be made in cash or cashiers check only. I may consider personal check but the car will not be handed over until the check clears. I have a clear Georgia title on hand. It is your responsibility to know the laws in your state regarding title transfers. I can supply you with the signed title and a bill of sale. We can even arrange to go to a notary and have everything notarized if you live in a notary state.

I would prefer the winning bidder to pick the vehicle up but I am willing to work with a shipping company if you arrange it. I must receive funds in full before I will ship it. The title and documents can be mailed via priority express so you receive them quickly.

Any questions please email me through Ebay or jonnyjr@bellsouth.net.

Is your new-car warranty good at the race track?

Mon, Feb 27 2017

We've all heard the horror stories. Your buddy knows a girl that was dating a guy whose best friend's brother once broke his brand-new, recently purchased performance car while making runs at a drag strip or laps at a track day, and the manufacturer wouldn't cover the repair under warranty. True story? Urban legend? Complete crap? Yes, no, maybe. One thing's for sure: Automotive warranties have always come with caveats. In 1908, an ad in the Trenton Evening Times clearly stated: "All Ford Cars Guaranteed for One Year." Although it changed over time, by 1925 the Ford New Car Guarantee only covered 90 days on material and 30 days on labor, and it clearly stated that that there was "No guarantee whatever on Fan Belts, Glass, Bulbs, Wiring, Transmission, Bands, Hose Connections, Commutator Shells, Rollers, Spark Plugs or Gaskets." Whether or not Ol' Henry would pay to fix your Model T if you broke it shaving a tenth off your lap time at the local board track seems to be lost to history. We're guessing no. But what about today? Do new-car warranties in 2017 cover cars when they are driven on race tracks? We researched the warranties of 14 auto brands to find out, and the answer is yes, no, maybe, depending on the brand, in some cases the model, and whether or not your car is modified from stock. Acura has been out of the high-performance car game for a number of years, but jumps back into the party in 2017 with its hybrid-powered $173,000 NSX supercar. And Acura's warranty, as well as Honda's, clearly states that it does not cover "the use of the vehicle in competition or racing events." View 33 Photos So we asked Sage Marie, Senior Manager of Public Relations for Honda and Acura. "If the car is stock, the warranty covers it on a track just as it does on the street. No question," he told us. "However, if the car is modified, say with slick tires or other components that would put higher stresses on the vehicle's parts and systems, then we would have to investigate the circumstances further." Marie went on to say the same would be true for any Acura model or Honda vehicle, including the new 2017 Honda Civic Si. This became a common theme. Chevrolet actually started this practice with the fifth-generation Camaro on the high-performance ZL1 and Z/28 models.

Toyota RAV4 "Adventure" brings the butch

Tue, 05 Mar 2013

Just last week, your humble author had a 2013 Toyota RAV4 in his garage, and he couldn't help noting that even in mid-level XLE trim, its aesthetics lacked oomph, due in large part to its cheap-looking black bumpers and airy-looking wheel wells. Judging by the RAV4 "Adventure" on display at the Geneva Motor Show, someone at Toyota must've been thinking the same thing.
With Japan's biggest automaker understandably focused on bigger reveals, information on this butched-up softroader has proven to be hard to come by, with no press materials whatsoever. We don't even know if this is a pure concept or if it's actually being considered for production. Either way, we approve. The 20-inch dark-finish alloys probably don't do much for ride quality, but they certainly look nicely aggressive, as does the new lower fascia with its prominent lower lip. Other changes include beefier wheel arches, side rails, headlamps with integrated LEDs, twin-element fog lamps and mesh grille inserts. All of the changes are quite well integrated - enough so that the Adventure largely avoids looking like a SEMA refugee in person.

Ever wonder how to really pronounce Japanese automaker names?

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

People tend to get very set in their ways when it comes to the pronunciation of words. Just look at the endless debates over whether or not to say the final 'e' in Porsche (which you should in terms of correct German enunciation). Or the argument about whether to follow the British convention and give the 'u' in Jaguar a special delivery or to say the 'ua' diphthong as more of a 'w' sound, as usually happens in the US.
This short video doesn't answer either of those automotive questions, but it does allow a native Japanese speaker to demonstrate the accepted pronunciations for several, major automakers from the country. One benefit is that it clears up the occasional debate over whether Nissan should be said with a long or short 'i' sound. Also, listen closely to how the female host says Mazda as Matsuda, the way it's actually said in the language. Even if this doesn't change the way you enunciate these brands, at least now you know the accurate way in Japanese.
