Why spend thousands more at a dealership for a certified used when you can buy the same vehicle with no mysteries and no salesman pressure? This Avalon is better than a certified used because of the full and verifiable dealership maintenance history and a much longer and far more comprehensive warranty than the 12 month TCU. It is accident free and runs like new.
Best of all, it has a transferable, 8 year, 100,000 mile genuine Toyota Platinum Service Agreement with $0 deductible, which is no longer available on any 2008 Toyota, and which beats any dealership warranty or service contract. I have all manuals, keys, window sticker, etc., original to the car. It has been adult owned, never abused, garaged both at home and work, and has never been smoked in. I just had the 30000 mile service performed, and just had 4 brand new Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum tires installed. It truly needs nothing except a new owner! The Avalon is a Consumer Reports favorite and their recommended full-size sedan. Once you own one, you will understand why as the comfort, ride, power, fuel economy and reliability make this the best full-size sedan in the market! I average 25 mpg locally and 31 mpg on the highway. The only notable problem on 2008 Avalons was the headlight assembly manufacture defect. This Avalon was repaired under warranty and both headlight assemblies were replaced (an $800 repair if you pay yourself!). The Avalon's standard and optional equipment is listed on the window sticker. It has the factory moonroof, which is a must to keep the car vented in the summer without leaving the windows open.
The reason I am selling is that even though the Avalon comfortably seats 5, I need a 7 passenger because of recent family growth.

Sports 800 is a progenitor of Toyota performance

Tue, 18 Nov 2014

There's an automotive axiom that claims it's more fun to drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow. If that's the case, then pushing a Toyota Sports 800 around must be one of the most exhilarating experiences behind the wheel in the world. With just 800cc of displacement from a two-cylinder boxer engine, the focus is on finesse over outright speed. Still, it's a fantastic page in Toyota's performance history, and Petrolicious takes a ride with a man who owns a meticulously restored 1967 example in its latest video.
The Sports 800 used the classic cost-saving strategy in the auto industry of taking parts from a standard model in the lineup and modifying it into a sports car. In this case that meant borrowing the engine from the plebian Toyota Publica, beefing it up for more power and clothing the whole thing a in beautifully shaped, wind-tunnel-honed body.
The look of these lithe, targa roadsters is the exact opposite of the rather dull styling sometimes associated with Toyota today. Everywhere you look there are louvers, vents or curves to draw the eye. Check out the latest Petrolicious video for a detailed look at the history of this rare model that's largely unknown on this side of the Pacific.

Toyota profits up 23% on high US sales, despite mounting legal costs

Tue, 05 Feb 2013

Toyota earned $9.3 billion in net income in the financial year that ends next month. The number beats earlier forecasts and marks a five-year high for the automaker, with both operating income and revenue up by 9.5 percent and 2.5 percent, respectively. Toyota saw quarterly profit enjoy a year-on-year jump of 23.4 percent, with the manufacturer earning more than $1 billion between October and December 2012. The good news comes in spite of the fact that the Japanese automaker actually endured an operating loss in North America, due in part to legal fees.
Toyota is set to pay more than $1 billion to owners who claim their vehicles decreased in value as a result of the company's recent spate of recalls. Even so, all three of the automaker's brands enjoyed a 13.5 percent sales increase in the US in the last quarter, beating the industry average. Toyota faltered in Europe, however, where it earned $99 million in operating profit last year, compared to $111 million in 2011. You can take a closer look at the company's full press release below for more information.

Toyota recalling 20k 2014 and 2015 cars and CUVs with 3.5L engines

Thu, 18 Sep 2014

Toyota has announced a recall of roughly 20,000 vehicles covering the 2014 Avalon, Camry, Highlander (pictured) and Sienna, as well as the 2015 Lexus RX luxury crossover. The affected vehicles are all powered the 2GR-FE engine, which in layman's terms, is Toyota's well-regarded 3.5-liter V6.
According to Toyota's statement, a parts supplier might not have welded "the end cap on the right-hand fuel delivery pipe in the engine compartment" correctly, meaning fuel could leak. Leaking fuel, of course, increases the chance of an engine fire. That said, no fires, crashes or injuries have been reported due to the issue.
Owners will be notified to report to dealers, where techs will check the fuel delivery pipe and fit a replacement part as necessary.
