Rare Toyota 4runner 2 Door With V* Conversion on 2040-cars
Miami, Florida, United States
Up for sale is a rare second generation 2 door 4Runner. As you can see from the pictures and videos the truck is in excellent
condition and the engine runs very very well as an almost brand new
engine should. These trucks are definitively getting harder and harder to find in this rust free condition! Originally this was a V6 model with a 5 speed manual trans.
The truck was re-painted in the original gold color by Freds Autobody in Melbourne, Fl. The paint job is flawless with no rust whatsoever on the whole body and anti chip paint in the lower part of the panels. At the same time the fender flares were added. The engine was converted to a brand new Ford 5.0/302 purchased from Ford racing. The engine is the basic mustang engine without aluminum heads making about 240 hp. It has billet serpentine belt system with AC, new carb, and headers. I also had a custom aluminum radiator made by Ron Davis which is installed using the stock location and mounting points. Transmission is a Ford AOD also purchased new with all the high performance parts to take 450 hp, I did this as extra insurance to take the large tires which are 33x12.5 BF Goodrich All Terrains on Alcoa classic II wheels. The tires still have the hairs on them so very very little mileage. Suspension has been lifted 4 inches with a Superlift system, and 2 inches with a body lift to clear the transmission and not cut the tunnel.. The trans has a Lokar shifter, which can easily be changed for a shorter shifter handle if you prefer (although I dont include the shorter handle in the sale). The transfer case is also heavy duty, an Atlas II all billet case with dual shift levers. The entire drive train has less than 3000 miles on it. The interior of the truck has a Kenwood 7 inch screen/stereo with sat nav capability. It does not have the sat nav module however. The interior is in perfect condition with no tears or rips and no dashboard cracks! The exterior has large Hella lights on and ARB bumper. The rear has an All Pro Off Road bumper. Spare tire is on the original Toyota swing out mount. As for the bad, the AC gas will most likely need to be refilled. The heater hoses were not reconnected when the engine was swapped, honestly not much use in Fl. The two issues I noticed while driving are that the water pump leaks a little where the gasket is which is a very simple repair, and the trans doesnt shift on a light throttle which means the shift points have to be adjusted. The power steering pump also needs to be installed in a more permanent way as it is temporary now (but 100% functional). Lastly there is a spare wheel but it is the original Toyota wheel which will not work with the large 33 inch tires. The only reason the truck is for sale is because I currently live outside of the US. I would naturally have fixed the issues it has before putting up for sale but I was only in the states for 5 days on my last trip and simply did not have the time. Right now the truck is in a covered garage in my building. The title is free and clear and ready to hand over. The auction has no reserve but the Atlas II transfer case on its own is $2400 new! This is barely $600 less than the starting price so right there you almost get the entire truck for free! Add on the V8 engine and automatic trans with barely break in miles on them and this whole package can be a steal! Just watch the videos and see that this truck looks and sounds great! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqPPWYmfiw8#t=14 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yx8R5BuSIxA |

Judge halts Toyota unintended acceleration cases, triggers time for settlement negotiations
Mon, 16 Dec 2013So far, the lawsuits brought forth against Toyota for unintended acceleration have gone both ways: the automaker was found not at fault in a 2009 California crash and liable for a 2007 crash in Oklahoma. Both cases involved a Camry and resulted in fatalities. With a big chunk of these UA cases (around 200) set to his the docket of US District Judge James V. Selna in Santa Ana, California, Bloomberg is reporting that the judge has halted the lawsuits until March after Toyota and its lawyers have had extra time to try and settle the cases.
According to the article, Toyota is looking to take care of the cases out of court with an "intensive settlement process." Having already paid out $1.6 billion in "economic loss" suits, this latest settlement process is aimed at the wrongful death and personal injury cases allegedly associated with unintended acceleration. A hearing for the settlements will be held on January 14 with conferences on the matter commencing in February. There is no word as to when lawsuits may start back up if settlements can't be agreed upon.
2017 Scion FR-S getting slight power bump?
Tue, May 12 2015A common refrain when discussing the Scion FR-S and its sibling the Subaru BRZ is that they are capable vehicles but are in need of more power. The latest rumors suggest that some more muscle might finally be on the way for the coupe's refresh. Don't expect something like the STI Performance Concept with a 300-horsepower, turbocharged flat-four, though – the gains in the real world are likely to be significantly more modest. According to Toyota insiders speaking with Motoring in Australia, the local Toyota GT86 (our FR-S) is due for a styling and powertrain refresh for the next model year. The 2.0-liter boxer four-cylinder engine isn't expected to get a drastic power increase, but it's not being completely neglected. A new intake manifold and friction reductions reportedly allow for five percent more grunt. If accurate, and if the changes also come here, that would take output of the US version to 210 hp and 159 pound-feet of torque. The adjustments could improve fuel economy by seven percent, as well. Handling is already a forte for the FR-S and BRZ, and things could get even better with this refresh. Motoring claims that dampers from Sachs might become standard equipment, along with a reinforced subframe. The close relationship with the BRZ reportedly rules out any dramatic changes to the styling for this update. However, the coupe is still likely to wear a new hood with vents in it, reshaped headlights, and a revised fascia with a larger lower grille. At the rear, expect a rear diffuser and exhaust pipes at the corners. While minor compared to all of these rumored updates, Scion recently gave the FR-S a few tweaks in the US for the 2016 model year (pictured above). In addition to some new colors and interior trim, it now comes standard with a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system and rearview camera.
2017 Toyota 86: The car so nice it's been rebadged twice
Wed, Feb 3 2016When the dust settles and the Scion brand is no more, the car we currently know as the Scion FR-S will be rebadged. Again. If you remember the excitement that surrounded the Toyobaru/Subota rear-drive sports coupes' introduction, you'll recall that Scion's Subaru BRZ twin landed in here as the FR-S. That car, along with the new iA and iM, will get a stay of execution next year when the brand bids adieu. We know it will wear a Toyota badge in dealers from then on, and there's a good chance it will get the 86 badge European models wear. Toyota's version of the car goes by several different names depending on the market. It's only a Scion in North America, while it's sold as the Toyota 86 (in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, South America, and South Africa), Toyota GT86 (in Europe and New Zealand again), and Toyota FT86 (in Nicaragua and Jamaica). The 86 part of the name is a nod to the rear-drive AE86 Corollas of the 1980s. That's a history lesson Toyota likely won't have to teach its core demographic. Then again, this car's core demographic probably already bought one. There's also a possibility that this car will get yet another name combination: Toyota FR-S. For the sake of simplicity, let's hope not. View 7 Photos So yes, the rebadged 86 will be re-rebadged back to a Toyota. Functionally this means almost nothing. Buyers who were ordering badge-swap kits from overseas will save some money. Some enthusiast forums might need to change their names. And people visiting from Japan or Europe will feel a little more at home when they see a rear-drive Toyota sports car on the street. Meanwhile, FR-S – a name that may or may not have stood for "front-engine, rear-drive, sport" – will be quickly forgotten. Related Video: Scion Toyota confirmed toyota 86
