I purchased this truck certified used from the dealer less than 2 years ago and have done nothing but improve it's condition. I'm the 2nd owner, always serviced at the dealer (have the records going back to when it was purchased), top tier gas, washed/waxed regularly, non smoking owner, no accidents, clean title. Santa swaps his sleigh for a Ferrari-powered Toyota
Fri, Dec 23 2016A Ferrari-powered Toyota 86 is sure to garner a bit of attention, as well it should. We've been paying attention throughout this build, so it should be no surprise then that Santa did as well. He's ditched his red sleigh for the Gumout GT4586 in this video. If you've been following along, you know that Ryan Tuerck and Gumout built this completely bonkers machine that's far more exciting than some previous Japanese/Italian mash-up automobiles. Donut Media has been doing their part to document and promote every stage of the process. This new video is filled with the gratuitous amounts of lights, noise, and tire smoke that Donut is known for. We don't know the conversion from horsepower to reindeerpower, but the GT4586 should provide plenty of oomph for Santa's Christmas trek. Toyota recalls 370k Sienna minivans, 10.5k Lexus GS models over separate issues
Thu, 22 May 2014The year of the recall continues, but this time it isn't from General Motors. Toyota is announcing two, separate recalls affecting a pair of its models.
First, Toyota is recalling 370,000 Sienna minivans from the 2004 to 2011 model years that are registered or originally sold in cold-weather states. The problem is that the spare tire carrier assembly cable can be splashed by water contaminated with road salt and cause corrosion. There is a splashguard in place to prevent this, but it sometimes gets lost in "normal usage," according to the company. If the cable does break, then "the spare tire may separate from the vehicle."
This is actually the second repair for this problem for some of these vehicles. In 2010, Toyota issued a recall on 600,000 Siennas from the 1998 to 2010 model years. At the time, it installed a new splashguard and sprayed the area with an anti-rust chemical. However, according to Toyota spokesperson John Hanson speaking to Autoblog, the campaign worked for the 1998 to 2003 models but wasn't sufficient for the newer ones. For the latest recall, the vehicles are getting the entire cable replaced with a stainless steel unit and a new splashguard.
GM repairing 40,500 Pontiac Vibes as part of Toyota airbag recall
Wed, 09 Apr 2014General Motors has confirmed to Autoblog that the Pontiac Vibe is included in Toyota's just-announced recall action. The Vibe and the Toyota Matrix share a large number of parts, including the affected cable to the airbag.
"About 40,500 Pontiac Vibes from the 2009-2010 model years are included in the Toyota recall. Toyota designed and engineered the Vibe for Pontiac. GM will service customers with these vehicles when Toyota makes the parts available," said GM recall spokesperson Alan Adler to Autoblog in an email.
The recall covers 1.3 million Toyota units in the US, including 2009-2010 Corolla, Matrix and Tacoma, the 2008-2010 Highlander, the 2006-2008 Rav4 and 2006-2010 Yaris, plus the addition of the 2009-2010 Vibe. The models all have their airbag module attached via a spiral electrical cable. The connections on this cable can be damaged when turning the steering wheel. Once broken, the airbag deactivates and the airbag warning light comes on. Toyota has an improved part, but it's still making preparations to begin repairs. It will begin notifying owners soon.
