Up for bid is my 1987 toyota 4runner Injected 22re!! This is the one everyone wants!! I have put a ton of time and parts into this build, but I find myself going in another direction. I replaced the motor with a re-built unit from a local engine re-builder 40k miles ago, at the same time I had the transmission rebuilt. When the engine was replaced, I also replaced the clutch, flywheel, throwout bearing, pilot bearing, alternator, starter, timing set, timing cover, all seals on motor, hoses, plugs, wires, and many more parts, i am sure. The A/C was converted to 134a as well, and blows very cold. The truck had the axle upgrade done 5k miles later when I did the axle swap. I replaced the IFS with an 85 front axle that was upgraded before installation with, vented landcruiser rotors, marlin crawler eco-seals, and yukon gear 5.29's. The rear end was geared to match, with 5.29's as well. I have run royal purple in the rear end to keep running temps down. The sas was done with a custom leaf pack and hangars, rancho 9000 adjustable shocks. It is sitting on 37 inch toyo mud terrain tires with 50% tread remaining. The tires have some sun cracks, but I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. The truck has custom sliders, and custom front and rear bumpers. The front bumper has hella driving lights installed, as well as a bulldog winch. The rear bumper has a tire carrier with a hi-lift jack, and custom tire swing away, allowing access to the rear tailgate. The licence plate has been re-located to the bumper with a gen-right licence plate bracket with led lighting. This is a RUST FREE TRUCK!!! I am not trying to represent this truck as a perfectly new specimen, it does have its problems.... The truck needs a paint job badly. The exterior has a few dings, and is oxidized. The interior is faded, and is showing its age. The climate control panel needs replaced, (included) as a pivot point on the cold/heat selector broke. I recommend anyone who is placing a bid to come look at the 4runner before bidding. A deposit of $1000.00 is due via paypal at auction end the remainder is due in cash at delivery. I am sure that I have forgotten some stuff, so I will try to answer e-mails as soon as possible. I can store the truck for free for up to 10 days after auction end.

Toyota celebrates 30 years of 4Runner with... incentives?
Mon, 24 Feb 2014Many Americans view their 30th birthdays as significant milestones, even though the average life expectancy here is more than 2.5 times that age. So you might think Toyota would be keen to party over the 30th anniversary of its 4Runner, since most models don't even live to half that age. You can put that idea away unless you consider discounts of $500 to $1,000 something worthy of cake and kazoos, since it appears that's all the birthday SUV will get. That's right, not even a trim-and-tape special edition or so much as a sticker. We asked Toyota for comment and were told they had "No other 30th anniversary 4Runner items to announce at the time."
So, about those incentives: they climb from $500 on the SR5 and Trail editions to $750 on Premium models and $1,000 on the Limited trims. Toyota says they're available at dealerships now and will last for the entire year. There's a press release below with a little more background, and there's a sad violin playing somewhere in the distance.
Disappointed, party of one, your table is now ready...
BMW i5 could get Toyota-sourced hydrogen power
Tue, 18 Nov 2014It's starting to feel like the automotive landscape is right on the cusp of a boom in hydrogen-fueled vehicles. After all, the Toyota FCV is nearly ready, Volkswagen is readying a fuel cell concept for this week's Los Angeles Auto Show and Hyundai already sells its Tucson Fuel Cell. The next big name to add to that list might be BMW, as the company's co-development deal with Toyota starts to bear fruit.
According to Autocar, BMW may use a version of the fuel cell system from the Toyota FCV in the future i5. As part of its eco-oriented i sub-brand, the i5 is expected to be a stretched version of the i3 (pictured above) with extra rear legroom and cargo space. It's unclear at the moment whether a battery-powered pure electric powertrain will also be available. If accurate, then the rumor could give the Bavarian brand a counterattack against Mercedes-Benz' planned fuel cell vehicle in 2017.
BMW and Toyota first signed the memorandum of understanding to co-develop fuel cells, lightweight technology and a sports car back in 2012, and they made the arrangement official in late 2013. So far, few details on the progress of the work have been disclosed, but the performance model has been rumored to use a front-engine, all-wheel drive layout with supercapacitors.
Sporty cars from the '80s get retro reviews from MotorWeek
Tue, Mar 10 2015The more things change, the more they stay the same. That's the feeling we're left with after watching the retro-review video above, in which MotorWeek – television's original automotive magazine, as if you didn't already know – takes a look at the 1984 Honda Prelude. A sporty coupe from Japan that lacks the outright performance and thrust of comparable American and European competitors, but makes any perceived slight up with unarguably supreme driving dynamics? That sounds sort of familiar, doesn't it? As always, we love taking a look back at the early days of MotorWeek (the more things change, they more they stay the same, remember?). And it doesn't end there. Far from it, in fact. Not only did MotorWeek bestow upon us the Prelude, Maryland's favorite public television show also unleashed retro reviews of (deep breath) the '82 Fiat X1/9, '84 Olds Cutlass, '88 Lotus Esprit Turbo, '84 Nissan 200SX Turbo, '88 Subaru XT6, '88 Toyota Celica All Trac, '84 Ford EXP Turbo, '89 Suzuki Swift GTi and '89 Mazda 323 GTX.
