The condition of the exterior, interior and engine can vary depending on the vehicle's history. See the seller's listing for full details and description of any imperfections.Seller Notes:"The A/C needs a seal fixed, compressor is in great shape. Driver seat has tear along outer edge (see pics). The body and paint for an 18 year old SUV is excellent, small chips and scrapes (most smaller than pennies. Tires have less than 5000 miles on them. Except A/C and driver seat, NEAR SHOWROOM CONDITION. Look in, under, behind, on top of, between seats front and back. EXCEllENT! Never been crashed."

It is a rugged Toyota SUV, with body on frame. While it has a selectable transfercase with 2Hi, 4Hi, and 4Lo settings, 2Hi and 4Hi operate 95% of all normal driving. The 4x4 has been used in mud and sand and snow, but has not been used to do anything extreme like crashing over rocks or against trees. There is no evidence that has done anything other than drive city streets or secondary roads that may have had mud, sand, or snow (or ALL). I am the second owner. The first owner keep good records of maint and general usage. When you look down the line of any side of vehicle, it is obviously very smooth and straight.
It has a receiver hitch and wiring plug for hooking up a trailer

The body glass is perfect, almost no pits (very small) and no cracks. The axles do not leak fluids, and the boots over the front CV shafts are without tears or splits. The tailpipe does not release oil smoke or radiator fluids. It starts easy and has gauges that indicate the antifreeze, oil pressure, voltage are all in desirable ranges. It can get 20-22 mpg on the highway in 2Hi. I had all fluids checked recently and the technition  expressed how clean everything is.
We lived at the end of a winding gravel road in all kinds of weather and was never stranded.

It has a factory alarm system. The factory sound system has AM/FM/cassette/CD, all work very well.

It is over 18 years old, with no trouble of head gasket blowing out. It did have a connecting rod bearing go bad that needed replacement. I went to professional  contacts and farmed out some machining. The block was mic'd and all bearing points, cylinders, were still inside of factory specs. Rather than have an odd size rod bearing, I ordered all-new, pistons, rings, connecting rods, seals, gaskets, crankshaft, bearings, oil pump, cam belt, and one camshaft that was out of spec. It now has all new injectors, seals and filters. Due to my goof up, I had to buy a new radiator (wasn't watching close enough to prevent a loose fan blade from tearing out fins in the old radiator (to this day kick myself for not doing a nut/bolt count that afternoon). It is a safe SUV that can haul 6 people (if adults be VERY good friends. Kids will do fine)

Inside the car you will note that there are no waterstains from roof or door seals. The doors close solidly without rattles.
.No one has ever smoked in this vehicle.

Toyota celebrates 30th anniversary of Land Cruiser 70 with Japan rerelease [w/videos]

Tue, 26 Aug 2014

It's a common refrain among auto enthusiasts to bemoan the current models being sold for being overly complex and expensive and to wish that automakers would just make vehicles like the old days. Sure, they might not have been as safe or efficient, but there was often a certain rugged simplicity that's gone today. Well, Toyota is actually doing it and thinks there's enough demand to put the Land Cruiser 70 back into production in Japan for its 30th anniversary. Sadly, it's only for one year.
The original Land Cruiser 70 served a long life in Japan from 1984 to 2004. Even today, the proven model remains in production in some regions abroad. People in its home country still love the vehicle though, and Toyota is brushing off the mothballs to give customers what they want. For the first time ever there, it's also offering the double-cab pickup version in addition to the traditional enclosed body. The company thinks that it can move about 200 of these classic trucks this year, which isn't too shabby for a vehicle that's three decades old.
Looking at the pictures above, these look like the same old Land Cruisers, but Toyota is updating them slightly to meet modern safety rules. The grille, hood and headlights are all tweaked, and they now come with airbags and anti-lock brakes. A 4.0-liter V6 is under the hood making 228 horsepower (170 kilowatts) and 266 lb-ft of torque (360 Newton-meters), and the only available gearbox is a five-speed manual. Part-time four-wheel drive is standard. If you're really afraid of getting stuck in the wilderness, locking front and rear differentials and a winch are available as options.

2014 Toyota Aygo is so cross with itself

Mon, 03 Mar 2014

It almost made it, but images of the redesigned Toyota Aygo have leaked ahead of its official debut at tomorrow's Geneva Motor Show. The new Aygo sports an aggressive look overall with a, um, mark on its face.
That distinguishing design feature aside, we quite like the angular headlights and muscular overall look of this little city car. The gaping trapezoidal air intake make the Aygo look more substantial, while swollen rear wheel arches hint at something sportier than your standard commuter device.
Sportiness, though, isn't likely to be a big part of the Aygo. As it's built on the same platform as the Citroën C1 and Peugeot 108, we should expect the same pair of gas-powered engines, which means at best, the Toyota will come to market with 82 horsepower under hood.

2014 Toyota Highlander to start at $30,075*

Tue, 17 Dec 2013

We now have pricing for Toyota's redesigned 2014 Highlander, which is seeing moderate price hikes across the board. Prices for the popular crossover have been bumped from less than 1 percent to less than 3 percent on lower-end models (anywhere from $125 to $890, depending on trim). Toyota has increased prices on higher-end XLE and Limited models more substantially - between 4.1 and 4.5 percent ($1,480 to $1,700). The Highlander Hybrid sees its price increase 2 percent ($930). The new model will be available in four different trims and with either front or all-wheel drive.
The absolute cheapest member of the Highlander range, the base LE, with a four-cylinder and front-wheel drive starts at $30,075, an increase of just $195. The LE is also available with a V6 and all-wheel drive, with the bigger engine upping the price to $31,380. All-wheel drive models start at $32,840. A slightly pricier LE Plus starts at $33,600 for a V6 FWD model and $35,060 if you add all-wheel drive.
Next up, we have the XLE, which starts at $36,900 for FWD models and moves up to $38,360 for AWD. The top-tier Limited model starts at $40,500 in FWD spec, grips-at-all-fours versions will retail for $41,960. For those that want the very top of the Highlander range, there's the Platinum Pack, which adds the Driver's Tech Pack (adaptive cruise control, pre-collision warning, lane departure warning and automatic high beams), a panoramic moonroof, heated steering wheel and heated second-row seats to the already well-equipped Limited model. Highlander Platinums start at $42,990 and $44,450, depending on how many tires are doing the work. (Note: All prices include an $860 destination and handling charge.)
