We are selling our 2003 Toyota 4Runner Limited, 4WD, V6. It's black with tan interior. Extremely well cared for. In immaculate condition. A two owner vehicle with a clean California title. Loaded with most options including: leather seats, JBL stereo, alloy wheels, power heated seats, sunroof, side and curtain airbags, Homelink, and more. The subwoofer stopped working last year and was replaced (by a professional audio shop) with a Kicker sub powered by a small amp which now sounds significantly better than the original. The vehicle has been serviced at the Toyota dealership every 3,000 miles for all scheduled service items including oil changes since it was brand new. I have every repair receipt as well as 3 sets of keys, owner's manual, and the original window sticker. Vehicle was always garaged. Adult driven since new. Never used off road or for towing. No accidents and no paintwork. Rust free California car. Completely stock. Mechanically, everything works perfectly - vehicle rides extremely smooth and quiet, transmission shifts smooth and the 4WD system engages with no noise, jolts, or clunks. The vehicle is rattle free. A non-smoker's car and there are no foul odors. Clean headliner. No curb rash on the rims. There have been no mods or add-ons to the car. Recent Michelin tires and brakes all around. Recent battery as well. The car needs absolutely nothing. The exterior has two minor imperfections: a small 3 inch gash on the left front bumper and a small (1/4 inch) paint chip on the left rear bumper (see photos of these). There are also a few light (and very small) scratches that are barely noticeable from a few feet away (could not get these to show up in any photos). Otherwise, the body is perfect and dent free with smooth glossy paint. Interior-wise, it's basically perfect with the exception of the driver's seat which has some light wear and tear (see photo) and the carpets have a few stains. Again, nothing too noticeable but want to fully disclose everything. The only reason I am selling is because my wife and I have another SUV and we recently got a company car.

Toyota fires bullets into hydrogen fuel tanks, shoots down EV supporters
Thu, Jan 16 2014Many gearheads will remember that the 1970s-era Dodge Dart's claim to fame was that its motor was so durable (though not necessarily powerful) that one could shoot bullets into the engine block. Decades later, Toyota has taken a page out of that testing process. "Personally, I don't care what Elon [Musk] says about fuel cells." With some industry members and analysts questioning both the viability and durability of hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicles, Toyota executive Bob Carter, speaking at the Automotive News World Congress this week, says the Japanese automaker went all Clint Eastwood on the fuel tanks of a fuel-cell prototype. Carter says that bullets from a small-caliber gun bounced off the carbon-fiber tanks, and that .50-caliber bullets barely made dents. The shoot-out motif kept going when Carter name-checked executives from Tesla, Nissan and Volkswagen in saying that he didn't care if other automakers question the future of fuel-cell vehicles. As you can see in the prepared text of Carter's speech below, he said, "Personally, I don't care what Elon [Musk], Carlos [Ghosn] or Jonathan [Browning] say about fuel cells. If they want to 'plug in and tune out' other technologies, that's fine." After debuting it in Tokyo late last year, Toyota showed off its FCV fuel-cell concept vehicle at the Detroit Auto Show this week as it get ready to start sales "around 2015." The car has a 300-mile range and should be priced somewhere between $50,000 and $100,000. Autoblog drove Toyota's fuel-cell prototypes last year, and you can read our impressions here. 2014 Automotive News World Congress- Bob Carter January 14, 2014 As prepared for: Automotive News World Congress Tuesday, January 14, 2014 Bob Carter, Senior Vice President, Automotive Operations, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. _________________ Thanks, Keith and good afternoon everyone. You know, I've been in the car business for more than 30 years, but I'm more excited about it now than EVER before Why? Because for the first time in Toyota's history, we did something here we've NEVER done before. We shocked people by unveiling two great looking, fun-to-drive cars that blow a hole in the theory that Toyota only builds "appliances". Just yesterday, we unveiled Toyota's newest concept, the FT-1 sports car. I'm already getting people asking me when they can get their hands on one. The FT-1 represents the latest in our heritage of sports cars like the 2000GT, Celica, Supra and most recently, the FR-S.
This first-gen Toyota Celica is one mean mother
Tue, 09 Jul 2013Brian Karasawa's gen-one Toyota Celica is, in a word, badass. As a long-standing fan of the marque, the doting owner has tried to both restore and improve his Celica keeping period-correct modifications in mind. The 20R/22R mashup engine is outputting roughly 185 horsepower and graced with a lot of JDM-specific parts and modifications. Clearly, the exhaust has been upgraded from stock, as clips of the orange Toyota in motion are accompanied by one hell of a nice sound.
Tastes clearly vary, and there's not as much love for the first-wave of Japanese metal as there is for similar era American-iron, but we're pleased to see these cars finally getting more time in the spotlight. Scroll down below to see why we're stoked, and consider cruising your local Craigslist for late 1970s and early 1980s Japanese coolness (before we get there first).
Mazda CX-5 named Japan's Car of The Year, Subaru BR-Z wins "Special Award"
Mon, 03 Dec 2012The Mazda CX-5 stamped its Kodo design and SkyActiv technology authority all over the Japan Car of the Year awards, taking the top prize ahead of the Subaru BRZ/Toyota GT 86. It is Mazda's second victory in the last ten years, the 2005 MX-5 claiming the same trophy, and the fourth time the Hiroshima company has won.
The award is decided by 60 local "automotive experts and journalists," and open to any passenger car released in Japan from November 1, 2011 to October 31, 2012 that has sold more than 500 units. Each judge gets 25 votes, his or her top vote getting 10 points, the rest of the points being spread among the judge's choice for the next best four cars.
The second-place getters were the Toyobaru twins with 318 votes, the surprise being they didn't beat or get any closer to the crossover. The Subaru BRZ did claw some mojo back, earning the Special Award given to cars that have made "an exceptional impact." The BMW 3 Series was third overall and won the Import Car of the Year award with plenty of room between it and the second place Range Rover Evoque.
