1999 4Runner 42,500 miles Black Manual Transmission 4WD SR5 Limited 6 cylinder This is a rare low-mileage stick shift 4Runner. I’ve owned if for a year and have put under 4,000 miles on it in that time. I love this truck but it’s just not the right city car for me. I’ll do my best to describe its condition and of course feel free to ask any questions. Bidding for this auction starts at $10,000 and the buy it now price is $12,500. All work has been done at Toyota of Manhattan. The car had obviously been sitting for a while when I bought it so I brought it to the dealer to check it out and do whatever needed to be done. I had the following work done: Replaced broken axle assembly Replaced timing belt Replaced sway bar link Filled fluids New spark plugs New brake pads Replaced air flow meter and oxygen sensor (to fix check engine light) I’ve also had the frame reinforced with two box welds around the suspension arm mounts in front of each rear wheel. Toyota of Manhattan inspected the frame and said it was fine but I felt better having this work done. If you know the 4Runners/Tacomas of this vintage you know this can be the achilles heal of this vintage truck. The previous owner sprayed the bottom with a black protector paint and while there is frame rust (it’s a 1999) it’s really not bad in my opinion. There are no sections missing from the frame or anything like that. I’ve included some pictures to help illustrate this. I also removed the running boards and back gold logos (I still have the logos if you want to glue them back on). I also just replaced the radio antenna so it does retract now when the radio is off (despite whats seen in the pics). Overall this truck has a ton of life left in it. The only known issue is an occasional clunk from the back end that you hear going over bumps. Toyota of Manhattan reports that its due to a third party exhaust hitting the underside of the truck. The exhaust is in good enough shape that it didn’t warrant replacement to me. I scour ebay frequently and haven’t seen a 4Runner with such low milage, and especially not in stick. I’m happy to help with shipping but I work a lot and don’t have flexible hours. I reserve the right to end this auction at any point. If you’re local and want to drive it, I’m happy to let you do that. I live in Brooklyn. Buyer is expected to get me $1,000 deposit 48 hours after the auction closes and the rest of the money within seven days. Bank check prefered. No oversees bids accepted.

The 2022 Subaru BRZ and Toyota GR 86 aftermarket upgrader's guide
Wed, Sep 1 2021When you own an enthusiast car, there are few events more nerve-wracking than the introduction of its successor. Should you upgrade? Is it worthwhile? What will it cost you to part out your mods and trade up? Well, there's good news for owners of the outgoing Scion FR-S, Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ who are considering an upgrade: You might not have to start with a clean slate. If you’re an owner (or even a casual fan) of the Subaru BRZ/Toyota 86 family of sports coupes, youÂ’re probably already aware that the 2022 models are more like aggressive overhauls than true, ground-up redesigns. Neither company really wants to put a spotlight on the fact that their coupes are a little less "all-new" and a little more "back and better than ever," but in our opinion, this is something Subaru and Toyota should embrace. Why? In a word: continuity. Look no further than the NA (1989-1997) and NB (1999-2005) Mazda Miata. While they are regarded as distinct generations (the NA defined by its pop-up headlights and simpler lines; the NB by its fixed lamps and swoopier styling) and were offered with different equipment packages, the fundamental underlying chassis remained relatively unchanged. This meant that, in many cases at least, buyers could trade up to a new model but bring along some of their factory and aftermarket accessories because theyÂ’d still fit. The BRZ and GR 86 are meant to be fairly bare-bones vehicles, the idea being that they appeal to those who want limited frills at a low cost and those who prefer to view cars as canvases rather than finished masterpieces. A long-running platform makes an excellent candidate for the latter type of car buyer. So, what does that mean for the 2022 BRZ and GR 86? Well, let's break it down by whatÂ’s truly new, whatÂ’s kind-of-new, and whatÂ’s essentially carry-over, with some guidance from Subaru and Toyota engineers. 2022 Subaru BRZ blue action profile View 22 Photos Spankin' new LetÂ’s start with the obvious: the styling. Even if you can find older aftermarket appearance kits that will fit the new BRZ and GR 86 on paper, they probably wonÂ’t bolt up nicely to the new cars due to their sleek new exterior designs. Wings and spoilers might still bolt up, but donÂ’t count on it, and theyÂ’ll probably look disjointed at best anyway.
Toyota i-ROAD leans its way into the city [w/video]
Mon, 04 Mar 2013According to Toyota, the "i-ROAD takes the company closer to its goal of creating the ultimate range of eco cars." As you're surely aware, that range of eco cars includes the enormously successful Prius family, but this new machine is nothing like the hybrid hatchback. And it's not even a car - Toyota calls the i-ROAD a Personal Mobility Vehicle.
Toyota's i-ROAD Concept, which debuts at this week's Geneva Motor Show, is adorned with just three wheels, meaning it's just as much a motorcycle as it is a car, and the driver and passenger sit in tandem style instead of side-by-side. This arrangement allows for a very thin 850mm width, which is about the same as a large motorcycle. Because the cockpit is enclosed, the occupants don't need helmets, nor are they open to the elements outside.
Also like a traditional two-wheeler, the i-ROAD tilts through the turns and when driving on uneven surfaces. Toyota says its computer-controlled Active Lean technology automatically balances the vehicle with no input from the driver.
4th-gen Toyota Prius production delayed by 6 months
Mon, 30 Jun 2014If you were holding off buying a new car in anticipation of the fourth-generation Toyota Prius arriving in 2015, your wait might be a little longer. Company insiders are claiming that production of the bestselling hybrid is being pushed back from spring to possibly as late as December 2015. Toyota is reportedly still making alterations to make sure everything is just right before it unleashes the all-important, efficient hatch on a waiting public.
According to unnamed sources speaking to Automotive News Europe, the main reasons for the delay aren't completely known. It's believed the engineers are still working on making the hybrid powertrain more efficient and improving the new Toyota Global Architecture modular platform. The insiders claim that the final production prototype of the Prius is still under development, and it might be November before it's finalized. From there, it usually takes around 12 months to tool up and for the first car to roll off the assembly line. It would be another year after that before the plug-in variant starts assembly. The national manager of Toyota Product Communications, Michael Kroll, told AutoblogGreen, "As you might expect, we can't comment on future product plans."
Despite the delay, some potential details have already emerged about the new hybrid. A company spokesperson recently told Autoblog via email that Toyota is engineering the next-gen Prius to have smaller, more power-dense electric motors and greater thermal efficiency. The new modular platform is also rumored reduce weight, and the changes could lead to a targeted 10 percent improvement in fuel economy.
