1989 Toyota 4runner Sr5 Sport Utility 2-door 3.0l, No Reserve, Nice Conditiion on 2040-cars
Castro Valley, California, United States
Selling this well-kept 1989 Toyota 4Runner, SR5. Originally purchased for my nephew who has decided to serve our country and put off college. Although admirable in nature, we cannot let this rig sit four years so we are passing it off to the next Toyota loving family. It is highly desirable first generation with the removable top. It has "WARN" locking front hubs. It is lifted. We were informed that it is a "Pro-comp" lift but have not found any markings to indicate this. Anyway, it looks GREAT. We just installed some BFG All Terrain tires, 33x12.5x15. They are "meaty" and give it a rugged look. The previous owner's fixed almost every mechanical wear item within the last two years. There is a stack of paperwork to substantiate this.
Here is a list of all the items replaced:
Clean, with a lift kit, gets about 17mpg
Power windows, power locks, power steering, cruise control, A/C blows cold...everything works.
Runs like a champ.
I have all of the service records and everything in the list below has been replaced in the last three years with the major stuff in the last two years:
-Engine, Fall 2010
-Transmission
-Clutch
-Rear differential
-Catalytic converter
-Head gasket
-Alternator
-Valve cover gaskets
-Water pump gasket
-Coolant pump
-Heater core
-A/C system
-Stereo and sound system, there are some wires for subs, but I don't have them hooked up
-Reupholstered entire interior
-Front seat
-33" off-road tires have about 5,000 miles on them
Now you can find another one for less but add up all the receipts in the folder and you will be over $10k. I did and was amazed. That is why I bought it for my most favorite nephew.
With all my auction's a few requirements. First, NO PAYPAL. Second, any and all bidders with less than 10 feedback, and/or negative feedback need to contact me prior to bidding with their full name and contact number or their bid will be cancelled and their user id blocked from additional bidding. Third, you are bidding to own, not look and make excuses. Once the auction is completed, you are the new owner. Any and all inspections welcome during the auction period, not after.
Also, selling in AS-IS, Where-Is condition with NO Warranties, expressed or implied. Seller has represented vehicle to the best of his ability and makes no warranties as to condition of the vehicle that are unknown to him at time of sale. Vehicle is also advertised locally and seller reserves right to end auction early and cancel all bids if vehicle is sold outside of ebay. Any and all interested buyers can contact seller for a buy it now if they cannot wait until the end of the auction.

Toyota to start production of hydrogen vehicles in December
Sun, 08 Jun 2014Toyota's hydrogen fuel cell vehicle will be in showrooms sooner than planned, the Japan Times reporting that production will commence in mid-December with the sedan following "by the end of this year." No reason was given for the new timeline; Toyota has been saying all along that we'd see it in 2015.
The company is said to be "considering" production volume of "dozens of... vehicles per month" at a "likely" price of eight million yen, which is $78,030 US. That is well in line with the numbers thrown around last year, when the target was somewhere between $50,000 and $100,000. Then late last year, during our first drive of the FCHV mule, we wrote that "the official quote... [is] that a price of 'less than 10 million yen is ideal.'"
That alleged $78K is a sizable sum to be one of the early adopters on the hydrogen fuel cell wagon train, but with things moving around so much - and with Toyota publicly citing hydrogen fuel cells as the future - there's plenty of reason to be cautious about that number.
Junkyard Gem: 2010 Pontiac Vibe
Wed, Apr 17 2024Just over a month before filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in June 2009, General Motors announced that the 83-year-old Pontiac Division would be "phased out" by the end of 2010. Only three Pontiac vehicles were sold as 2010 models in the United States: the Solstice, Vibe and G6 (new G3s were sold here during 2010 but they were all 2009 models, while the G5 was available as a 2010 model only in Canada and Mexico). Today's bit of junkyard automotive history is one of the very last Vibes ever built, found in a yard near Denver, Colorado. This car is significant not just as one of the final vehicles to bear Pontiac badges but also as one of the last cars built by the New United Motor Manufacturing Incorporated GM-Toyota joint venture in California, better known as NUMMI. The NUMMI factory began life as GM's Fremont Assembly, which built its first vehicle (a C-Series pickup) in 1963 and closed in 1982 after building its final vehicle (an Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera). Rebooted as NUMMI, the first 1985 Chevrolet Nova (an Americanized AE82 Toyota Corolla Sprinter) rolled off the line in December of 1984. A quarter-century and better than eight million vehicles hence, NUMMI shut down production after its last Corolla was finished on April 1, 2010. While there was some noise about the Oakland Athletics building a new stadium on the site at the time, Tesla ended up buying most of the site soon after that. Tesla now builds more vehicles per year there than NUMMI ever did. The Vibe was co-developed with Toyota and based on the same platform as the ninth-generation Corolla. The Toyota Matrix was mechanically identical and was built in Canada, while the Japanese-market version (known as the Toyota Voltz) was built on the same NUMMI line as the Vibe and shipped across the Pacific. The Vibe/Matrix/Voltz got a redesign for the 2009 model year, but few noticed due to all the turmoil in the GM world at the time. The final Vibe was built in August 2009. This car was built in July of 2009, just before the end. It was living in West Texas just prior to coming to Colorado. El Paso is about a ten-hour drive from this car's current location. Once in the Centennial State, it got parked somewhere it shouldn't have been and ended up being auctioned to Pick Your Part. An occupant of this Vibe had time to sample some of the local agricultural products before that happened.
Toyota C-HR hybrid crossover coupe concept leak ahead of Paris
Sun, 21 Sep 2014Last week, Toyota previewed an upcoming concept called the C-HR and promised it would debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show. It didn't say much more or give us anything beyond a silhouette and the shape of the lights, but here we have the first images of the finalized form.
The C-HR envisions a hybrid crossover coupe with angular styling that looks ready to take on the Nissan Juke. It's far sportier than a RAV4, and looks closer to how we'd imagine the next-generation Scion FR-S would look like if it were riding on a jacked-up suspension - with some show car elements thrown in for good measure, like a gloating roof, radical lighting and the usual absence of door handles and usable wing mirrors.
Of course, this being a Toyota concept, it packs a hybrid powertrain, although specifications did not leak out along with the images. Overall the form looks pretty striking, if decidedly unsubtle. We'll look forward to bringing you more as the Paris show rapidly approaches.
