Selling this well kept, 1988 Toyota 4Runner, SR5, V6, 4WD.  It is finished in white on gray.  It runs great and was previously owned by a mechanic who performed a top-end rebuild.  Timing belt, water pump, hoses, belts and head gaskets were changed at 200,000.  It currently has 219,507 on the odometer now.  If you have been looking for a well kept, first generation 4Runner then, this one is for you.  It just looks GREAT.  The interior is nice.  The white paint still shines nice with some small blemishes and bruises(see photos and video).  You can get in this car and drive wherever you want.  The A/C blows cold, the heater blows hot.  The stereo will rock your world.  It has a ProComp lift.  It rides on BFG tires with great deep tread.  You do not need to do anything other than enjoy the ride.  I bought this for my 16 year old son.  After hearing a bunch of noise from his mother about no airbags and anti-lock brakes, I decided to silence the 'old bag" and sell it.  It also has an alarm that is hooked up to the horn to give it a loud blast.  Check out the wood Grant steering wheel. The 4Runner will need an oil pressure switch so the gauge in the dash will register again.  Other than that, everything works, from the power rear window to the deck lamp.  Nothing more I can say except that I will be sad to see it go.   With all my auctions, a few requirements.  First, NO PAYPAL.  Second, any and all bidders with less than 10 feedback and/or negative feedback need to contact me prior to bidding with their full name and contact number or their user id will be blocked and their bid cancelled.  Third, you are bidding to own, not look and make excuses.  Once the auction is over, you are the new owner.  Any and all inspections welcome during the auction period, not after. Also selling in AS-IS, Where-Is condition with No Warranties, expressed or implied.  Vehicle is 26 years old and although looks and runs good is still a used vehicle and not showroom fresh.  So with a great big Toyota, "Oh, What a Feeling" leap, let the auction begin.  Vehicle is also advertised locally and seller reserves right to end the auction early and cancel all bids if sold outside of ebay.

Oh, Kei Go: Toyota set to enter JDM minicar market?

Fri, 01 Oct 2010

Toyota is looking to get bigger... by going smaller. The Japanese automaker is looking to enter the kei car market, a popular segment in its homeland. Kei cars are small vehicles with restrictions on length (11.15 feet), width (4.86 feet), engine size (660 cubic centimeters) and power output (63 horsepower). Currently, Toyota is the only Japanese automaker not producing vehicles for this segment, but that is set to change, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal.
Thanks to its relationship with Daihatsu, Toyota can jump right into the kei car game. Daihatsu is one of the largest producer of kei vehicles and it is currently owned by Toyota.
Although kei cars are restricted in terms of size and power, they are not restricted by technology. Automakers utilize different drive configurations, powertrains and amenities to keep their cars fresh. Daihatsu and Toyota plan to work together to produce Toyota-branded kei cars. The two companies will utilize Toyota's knowledge of electric and hybrid systems to produce efficient little vehicles for the Japanese market.

Japanese automakers ramping production for renewed American sales

Wed, 21 Nov 2012

The 2011 earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan took quite the toll on the automotive industry in that nation. Not content to lean on that tragedy as excuse for slagging sales, the Japanese automakers are planning on a major production expansion in North America. The aim is to reclaim the market share lost from the Tsunami-based dip, and overcome a dollar/yen exchange rate that makes exporting to America unprofitable.
Following the Tsunami, Japanese automakers ramped up production in their North American facilities to compensate, but according to Automotive News, Nissan, Honda and others have all reported plans for still-further increased production in the year ahead. As part of this ramp-up, Mazda will open a facility in Salamnca, Mexico before March of 2014. Part of that increase in output is 50,000 units of a Toyota-badged compact car, which Mazda will produce.
Other Mexican production facilities opening include a Honda plant, which will open in Spring 2014 in Celaya, and a Nissan plant, set to open later this year in Aguascalientes. Nissan also said that it will need another plant in North America within the next five years. According to Nissan Boss Carlos Ghosn, the company aims to raise its stake in the US market from 8 percent to 10, and adding production will help achieve that goal. Even Mitsubishi is aiming to boost production at its Normal, Illinois plant. Production of the Outlander Sport is currently at 50,000, which Mitsubishi wants to raise to 70,000.

Scion trying to build business case for FR-S convertible as Subaru bows out

Tue, 28 Jan 2014

Hope may remain for a convertible version of the Scion FR-S, according to a report from Ward's Auto. You'll recall that rumors were swirling about the feasibility of a rear-drive Toyobaru convertible as early as October, and that back in November, Subaru - which makes the FR-S, Subaru BRZ and Toyota GT86 - essentially nixed the idea of an open-topped variant.
"We make the car, so if we don't make it, it can't happen," brand chief Yasuyuki Yoshinaga told Automotive News, according to Ward's, at the Tokyo Motor Show. "Our engineering department told me that losing the entire roof requires a complete redesign of the structure. It would need a big change."
Despite Yoshinaga-san's arguments against a droptop variant, Toyota is apparently still considering the model. Speaking to media at the 2014 North American International Auto Show, Scion's US vice president, Doug Murtha, hinted that the rear-drive droptop was in the works.
