1988 Toyota 4runner Sr5 Sport Utility 2-door 3.0l, No Reserve on 2040-cars
Castro Valley, California, United States
Selling this well kept, 1988 Toyota 4Runner, SR5, V6, 4WD. It is finished in white on gray. It runs great and was previously owned by a mechanic who performed a top-end rebuild. Timing belt, water pump, hoses, belts and head gaskets were changed at 200,000. It currently has 219,507 on the odometer now. If you have been looking for a well kept, first generation 4Runner then, this one is for you. It just looks GREAT. The interior is nice. The white paint still shines nice with some small blemishes and bruises(see photos and video). You can get in this car and drive wherever you want. The A/C blows cold, the heater blows hot. The stereo will rock your world. It has a ProComp lift. It rides on BFG tires with great deep tread. You do not need to do anything other than enjoy the ride. I bought this for my 16 year old son. After hearing a bunch of noise from his mother about no airbags and anti-lock brakes, I decided to silence the 'old bag" and sell it. It also has an alarm that is hooked up to the horn to give it a loud blast. Check out the wood Grant steering wheel. The 4Runner will need an oil pressure switch so the gauge in the dash will register again. Other than that, everything works, from the power rear window to the deck lamp. Nothing more I can say except that I will be sad to see it go.
With all my auctions, a few requirements. First, NO PAYPAL. Second, any and all bidders with less than 10 feedback and/or negative feedback need to contact me prior to bidding with their full name and contact number or their user id will be blocked and their bid cancelled. Third, you are bidding to own, not look and make excuses. Once the auction is over, you are the new owner. Any and all inspections welcome during the auction period, not after.
Also selling in AS-IS, Where-Is condition with No Warranties, expressed or implied. Vehicle is 26 years old and although looks and runs good is still a used vehicle and not showroom fresh. So with a great big Toyota, "Oh, What a Feeling" leap, let the auction begin. Vehicle is also advertised locally and seller reserves right to end the auction early and cancel all bids if sold outside of ebay.

Judge halts Toyota unintended acceleration cases, triggers time for settlement negotiations
Mon, 16 Dec 2013So far, the lawsuits brought forth against Toyota for unintended acceleration have gone both ways: the automaker was found not at fault in a 2009 California crash and liable for a 2007 crash in Oklahoma. Both cases involved a Camry and resulted in fatalities. With a big chunk of these UA cases (around 200) set to his the docket of US District Judge James V. Selna in Santa Ana, California, Bloomberg is reporting that the judge has halted the lawsuits until March after Toyota and its lawyers have had extra time to try and settle the cases.
According to the article, Toyota is looking to take care of the cases out of court with an "intensive settlement process." Having already paid out $1.6 billion in "economic loss" suits, this latest settlement process is aimed at the wrongful death and personal injury cases allegedly associated with unintended acceleration. A hearing for the settlements will be held on January 14 with conferences on the matter commencing in February. There is no word as to when lawsuits may start back up if settlements can't be agreed upon.
NHTSA, IIHS, and 20 automakers to make auto braking standard by 2022
Thu, Mar 17 2016The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and virtually every automaker in the US domestic market have announced a pact to make automatic emergency braking standard by 2022. Here's the full rundown of companies involved: BMW, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo (not to mention the brands that fall under each automaker's respective umbrella). Like we reported yesterday, AEB will be as ubiquitous in the future as traction and stability control are today. But the thing to note here is that this is not a governmental mandate. It's truly an agreement between automakers and the government, a fact that NHTSA claims will lead to widespread adoption three years sooner than a formal rule. That fact in itself should prevent up to 28,000 crashes and 12,000 injuries. The agreement will come into effect in two waves. For the majority of vehicles on the road – those with gross vehicle weights below 8,500 pounds – AEB will need to be standard equipment by September 1, 2022. Vehicles between 8,501 and 10,000 pounds will have an extra three years to offer AEB. "It's an exciting time for vehicle safety. By proactively making emergency braking systems standard equipment on their vehicles, these 20 automakers will help prevent thousands of crashes and save lives," said Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx said in an official statement. "It's a win for safety and a win for consumers." Read on for the official press release from NHTSA. Automakers making the commitment are Audi, BMW, FCA US LLC, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Porsche, Subaru, Tesla Motors Inc., Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo Car USA.
Redesigned 2014 Toyota Tundra spied testing in Canada
Tue, 29 Jan 2013When Toyota first announced that it would be bringing the 2014 Tundra pickup to next month's Chicago Auto Show, we weren't quite sure if the truck would fall into the "all-new" or "refreshed" category. After seeing this latest set of spy shots, we're striking "all-new" from the record, but the enhancements do appear to be more than just a simple nip/tuck.
While the overall shape and greenhouse haven't really changed, heavy cladding found on the front fascia suggests that a totally redesigned nose is in store, with a fully reworked grille flanked by new headlamps. Smaller styling details are hidden by the big panels of camouflage, but we anticipate a few minor tweaks to the rest of the pickup's design when all that black tape finally comes off.
Mum's the word on powertrain enhancements (if any), as well as any changes that have been made to the chassis. But with the updated 2013 Ram 1500 already on the street, the recent unveiling of the updated 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra twins, and a preview of what's to come from the likes of Ford, we certainly hope Toyota has injected enough new blood into its 2014 model year pickup to keep it competitive in this American-dominated segment. We'll know for sure come Chicago.
