Smart Car 2009 Fortwo Pure - Low Miles - Cutie Must See! Great Mpg! No Reserve! on 2040-cars
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States
This is the super fun fantastically cute Smart Fortwo car - made by Mercedes in France! Original owner moving out of the country so need to help this much loved car find a new owner. Miles per gallon is near 40! Save big on gas with the 8 gallon tank. It is in much loved condition, no accidents, super reliable, smoke-free and garaged the entire 4 years and used only about half the miles of a car this age. You only need to get the car serviced once per year - no oil changes or other service required - once a year is it, and this car has been serviced yearly at the local Las Vegas Mercedes dealer and given a clean bill of health (records included). It has never had any mechanical problems that disabled it, never towed, only one clogged intake valve that caused it to run rough till we drove it to the dealership. We used a trickle charger to keep the battery topped off when travelling (included with purchase). Car software version was upgraded to 2.03 at the dealership for smoother shifting patterns. This car is exactly 4 years old this month, so even though it was purchased during the 2010 model year, it is a 2009 model because the dealer sold 2009 models as new at that time. Dealer was Smart Center Las Vegas. Car features the safety cell design with a roll cage surrounding you and 8 air bags for maximum protection, don't let the size fool you - this car is safety rated. Roomy inside, quiet driving, and holds several pieces of large luggage behind the seats. Tall drivers will see it is quite tall and easily seen in traffic - you will get noticed and people will talk to you when you drive this cutie! You can also park it on the street facing the curb as it is only 8 feet long, making a parking space where there was none before. There is a hard to notice shallow scratch on the passenger side door that probably could be buffed away by a car detailer. Otherwise, no known issues with the car other than normal wear. Runs great in TWO directions - forward AND reverse! Fantastically easy to park and run around town, works great for the Las Vegas desert and AC is cold. Transmission is dual mode - you can leave it in automatic mode if you prefer it simple, but if you want a sportier and smoother experience, use the manual shift mode, where you simply tap the stick forward or backwards to change gears, no clutch. So much more fun to drive that way, as well as smoother shifting if you let off the gas a bit before switching gears. Has incredible power and speed for a 3 cylinder gas miser, and does very well on highway drives all the way to Los Angeles and San Diego on cruise control. The radio was installed by Frys Electronics and can play music from AM/FM plus audio-in for your cell phone (headphone cable included), USB and SDRAM memory sticks. The license plate registration expires at the end of May so will need to be renewed upon receipt. License plates will come with the car as i have no vehicle to transfer them to. Includes webbing to keep grocery bags from falling forward behind the seats on a sudden stop Starting at $1 this Auction has NO RESERVE! I have sold several cars on eBay and it has never let me down yet - thanks bidders! Payment to be made with a deposit via paypal due 24 hours after auction close, with balance to be paid by bank EFT transfer, money order, cashiers check or wire transfer within 7 days of auction close. Any bidders worldwide welcome - will ship. Happy to answer any questions - thanks for checking our auction! |

Junkyard Gem: 1986 Chevrolet Sprint Plus
Fri, Jun 16 2023General Motors sold second- and third-generation Suzuki Cultuses with Geo or Chevrolet Metro badging in the United States from 1989 through 2001 model years, and we've all seen plenty of those cars on the street over the years. The first-generation Cultus was sold here as well, with Chevrolet Sprint badges, and I've found a rare example of the Sprint five-door hatchback in a Northern California car graveyard. The Chevy Sprint first appeared on the West Coast as a 1985 model, then became available everywhere in the United States for the 1986 through 1988 model years (in Canada, it was sold as the Pontiac Firefly). It was available here as a hatchback with three or five doors; for 1986 only, the five-door was badged as the Sprint Plus. Soon enough, The General would be selling many more Asian-built cars with Detroit badges here. Isuzu I-Marks were sold as Chevrolet/Geo Spectrums starting in the 1986 model year, while Daewoo provided the Pontiac LeMans two years later. Under the hood, a 1.0-liter three-cylinder rated at 48 horsepower. The five-door Sprint cost $5,580 in 1986, which was $200 more than the three-door (those prices would be $15,445 and $14,891 in 2023 dollars). I've documented seven discarded Sprints prior to this one (including an extremely rare Turbo Sprint), and all of them were three-doors; we can assume that price was the most important factor for Sprint buyers. Gasoline prices were crashing hard during the middle 1980s, but memories of gas lines and odd-even-day fuel rationing from 1979 remained strong. What cars competed with the '86 Sprint on sticker price? Well, there was no way to undercut the hilariously affordable (and terrible) Yugo GV, which cost $3,990. The much bigger (but still pretty bad) Hyundai Excel listed at $4,995, while Toyota would sell you a sturdy (but zero-fun) Tercel starting at $5,448. Even the wretched Chevy Chevette — yes, it was still available in 1986 — cost $5,645. The original buyer of this car was willing to shell out an extra $395 to get an automatic instead of the base five-speed manual. That's about $1,093 in today's money. This car must have been slow. By the end, the doors were held shut with duct tape, but it still stayed alive until age 37. 53 miles per gallon on the highway! It does everything. The camels of the highway.
Suzuki ending auto sales in Canada, too
Wed, 27 Mar 2013Suzuki of Japan has reportedly made the decision that almost everyone assumed it would make when it announced it was leaving the US market: when the 2014 model year concludes, it will no longer sell cars in Canada. With six employees overseeing its auto business in Canada and a dealer network that has shrunk to 55 outlets in the country, we can't say we're shocked.
At the time of the US announcement, however, the senior VP of sales and marketing in the automotive division of Suzuki Canada said it would be able to survive on its own because, among other reasons, Canadians prefer smaller, more fuel-efficient cars that fit the company's offerings. Five months later, after some time to think about a 30-percent drop in sales to open up 2013 instead of the 1.4-percent increase in sales that Suzuki Canada posted last year, things have evidently changed.
The Globe and Mail reports that as is in the US, Suzuki's motorcycle, ATV and marine divisions in Canada will remain.
Suzuki considering Cappuccino revival?
Tue, 13 Aug 2013It's not a secret that a few of us here at Autoblog have a crush on Japanese Kei cars. The diminutive sizes and cheeky looks of most of the segment are certainly endearing factors, but it was the sporting Kei cars of the 1990s that made for the most delicious forbidden fruit.
Suzuki's entry in that time and market space was the Cappuccino, a rear-wheel-drive coupe with a removable roof and roll bar, powered by a 657cc three-cylinder motor. The car hung around the Japanese market until 1997 (and was booted up in Gran Turismo form for years after that). Now, rumor has it that the little coupe could be getting a reboot around 2016.
The reports are still a bit short on detail; some indicate that a new Cappuccino could be built up on an existing Kei platform from Suzuki. If the new car were to keep the RWD layout of the original, however, that would mean building up the model on the live-rear-axle bones of the Suzuki Jimny or Carry.
