1995 Ford Mustang Convertible, 3.8 V6 Auto, Original Nice, All Repairs Done! on 2040-cars
Watseka, Illinois, United States
For Sale: 1995 Mustang Convertible – 3.8 Liter V6, Automatic Transmission, and an original car with original paint and a very clean interior and a new top and tires. This is a two-owner, non-smoking family car that it used for weekends and around town errands and was previously used for college transportation. Now everyone has graduated, car gets only occasional use, so it needs a new home. It is selling without reserve for a fair price, given upkeep etc…. Car is located in Central Illinois (zip 60970) and is an everyday driver (good mpg) with a clear, clean title and all maintenance done etc…***** Car has 148,000 original miles and runs and drives great - pictures were taken at our local dealership as I had the car gone over mechanically prior to listing it; required repairs and lube were done. Car has previously had its timing chain redone, head gaskets redone, intake gasket redone (typical repairs on these), new mass air flow sensor, alternator (last year), new main drive belt and the factory cassette unit was replaced with a factory Ford AM/FM stereo CD unit when the car went to college. Within the last two years we did new struts up front, shocks in the back, new convertible top (tan $2100), rack and pinion steering rack replaced (rebuilt $400) with pump flush and refill, tune up, and new injectors (rebuilt ones). Pulling it out of storage as we decided to sell it, a new set of Goodyear radial tires all around (w/alignment $830), and a new battery from the Ford dealer were installed. Fluids and filters are up-to-date and always have been maintained.***** Car runs and drives great and is used off and on during good weather here in Illinois. Car needs only its headlight lens polished out as they are yellowing slightly, there is a small tear in the seat material on just the driver’s side as shown, and the floor mats were shot from use so it will need a new set. Body-wise there is no rust on the body, there is one area on the driver’s rear quarter panel (top lip) where the clear paint coat is starting to peel, but minor (paint is original on the car). The hood on the car also has some chips and some imperfections in the paint given age, but still very presentable. Top is perfect on the car (pictures shows it slightly still wet in parts given the shop’s courtesy wash). Mechanic showed me the underside of the car on the rack and it also is very presentable with minimal rust, just usual wear. Driver’s door pinstripe is also slightly worn given top down, arm on door edge driving!***** Car is selling on eBay with no reserve, I don’t have it for sale locally and won’t do so locally till later this Spring if it does not sell. Deposit by Paypal of $1000 within three days of sale’s end, balance to be paid by either cash at pickup or by bank wire transfer prior to coming for the car (call for bank name, bank contact, and account/routing numbers) within two weeks after depositing. I will receipt new owner for each step in the payment process. If not picking up and paying within two weeks, car can stay stored here for 30 days at no cost as long as it is fully paid for (bank wire option). After 30 days, I will be unable to return the deposit funds, however, I will return the rest of the funds. I am just looking to find a new owner for this nice car and to get some of my garage space back! Please feel free to contact me with questions, come personally or send someone to look at and try the car if needed, or contact me with any other needs. Can’t hardly buy a running/driving convertible car, with no issues or rust, for under $4000!***** |

Suzuki shows weird, wonderful trio of concepts in Tokyo
Wed, Oct 28 2015Suzuki brought a whole mess of intriguing little runabouts to the Tokyo Motor Show this year. And though the Japanese automaker no longer participates (at least with its four-wheel automobiles) in the North American market, we didn't want to miss the opportunity to check out its latest oddities, and capture them for your Nipponophilic amusement. The one that caught our attention the most on the Suzuki stand this year is the Mighty Deck. The little yellow minicar features a canvas roof, an open rear cargo bed, and a genuinely delighted look on its face. Though it strikes us as about as useful as an umbrella in a snow storm, we really dig the stylistic combination of new materials and old, the rugged with the approachable, and of course the tiny size that could only come from the densely packed island nation. We're not exactly longing for the return of the Suzuki X90, but we'd love a new version to look like this Mighty Deck. Joining the Mighty Deck is the equally unusual Air Triser, a concept that aims to put the "mini" back in minivan. Though clearly designed for the crowded streets of Tokyo, the Air Triser manages to squeeze three rows of seats into its compact footprint. Maximizing ingress, egress, and interior volume, the engine (surely displacing about as much as a bottle of bubble tea) is pushed all the way into the front, with pillarless side portals consisting of opposing sliding doors. Its shoulders may be high, but the interior appears light and airy, with four individual buckets floating atop the flat wood floor ahead of a rear bench, all uninterrupted by consoles or excessive clutter. Though clearly much smaller than what we'd call a minivan on our side of the Pacific, designs like these make us wonder if we really need our family haulers as big as they are. Though there were plenty of other production JDM curiosities on the Suzuki stand, the last concept that caught out eye is the Ignis Trail. The ruggedized soft-road hatchback combines rounded styling with beefed-up wheel arches packed with (relatively) large rolling stock, rack rails on a black roof, and anodized red accents inside and out to offset the white and black color scheme. Scope out the trio in our gallery of live images from the Tokyo Motor Show.
Junkyard Gem: 1991 Geo Metro LSi Convertible
Sat, Oct 2 2021Beginning in 1985, General Motors brought over Suzuki Cultuses and sold them here with Chevrolet Sprint badges, which Americans bought in surprisingly large numbers (considering the crash in fuel prices around that time). When the time came for The General to launch a separate brand selling rebadged Japanese machines— Geo— the second-generation Cultus became the Geo Metro. Sporting a fuel-sipping three-cylinder engine, the Metro mostly sold to penny-pinchers interested only in cheap commutingÂ… but GM decided to make a fun convertible version, anyway. Here's one of those cars, finally retired near Denver at age 30. The 1991 Metro hierarchy started with the El Cheapo base and XFi models, at $6,795 (about $13,810 today), then moved up to the better-equipped LSi. The LSi hatchback coupe cost $7,795 ($15,840 in 2021), while the LSi convertible stood at the top of the Metro pyramid at $9,740 ($19,795 now). Believe it or not, Ford managed to undercut the 1991 Metro with its Mazda-built Festiva, priced at $6,620 in its cheapest form. You could buy a Suzuki-badged version of this car, known as the Swift, and the Swift GT had a screaming four-cylinder engine. 1995 and later Metros also had the option of a four-banger, but a 1.0-liter three-cylinder was the only engine available in the 1991 Geo Metro. If you wanted to get close to 60 highway miles per gallon, the Metro XFi had a specially-tuned 1.0 that delivered, though it sent a mere 49 horsepower to the front wheels (the last new car available in the United States with under 50 horsepower— including highway-legal EVs— was the 1993 Metro XFi, by the way). The engine in today's Junkyard Gem was rated at 55 horses. A five-speed manual transmission was standard equipment in every 1991 Metro, though a thoroughly miserable three-speed slushbox could be had for $465 extra (about $945 today). Because most Metro buyers wanted fuel economy first and foremost, automatic Metros are rare (though I have managed to find one in a boneyard). How many total miles? The five-digit odometer means we'll never know. The 1991 Metro convertible came from Japan, but all the others sold here that year were built in Canada. Today, that plant builds the Chevy Equinox. A new convertible for less than 10 grand was a steal in 1991, when a new Mercury Capri convertible cost $12,588.
This is the facelifted Suzuki SX4 that we won't get
Tue, 05 Feb 2013The car you see above is, according to China Car Times, the facelifted Suzuki SX4 crossover. We've always had a soft spot for the SX4, so the fact that it's finally getting a significant update makes us a wee bit sad - after all, Suzuki just announced late last year that it's leaving the US market, so we'll never get this upgraded little 'ute on our shores.
Changes we can see include aggressively resculpted lighting units, interesting mold lines on the front bumper cap, redesigned air intakes and unique trim fillets on the doors.
At least we can take solace in the fact that there apparently aren't any significant alterations under the new bodywork, so our crop of used SX4s should be just as capable out on the road. In China, Suzuki's 1.6- and 1.8-liter four-cylinder engines are expected to carry over to the new year, along with the current model's CVT and manual drivelines.
