Marshalltown, Iowa, United States
Looking for the nicest Samurai to be found, to possibly pull behind your RV, or trek to your favorite hunting spot or fishing hole? You have found it! The Samurai can be flat towed and we have frame mounts and tow bars available for extra $$.
This Samurai has a clean, current Iowa title and has been previously titled in Georgia. We have run a Carfax that shows this SUV has never been wrecked. Rod's Auto Sales (also known as SamuraiSalvage {google to find our website--offering new and used parts for Suzuki Samurai, Sidekick and Tracker}), is offering this super nice, unique, restored Samurai for auction. This Samurai has never seen a salty road and is 100% rust free. It had no rust before the restoration. Restoration included: new white paint (look at it shine!), new front and rear bumpers and new bumper end caps, new front and rear light assemblies, new white spare tire cover, new (new style -1992-1995) grille with S emblem. One of our 100 horse, high performance engines was a major part of this restoration (this engine is our featured product on our website) with only a few break-in miles. Engine comes with a 1-year, unlimited mile warranty. This engine includes: new flat top 10:1 pistons, cylinders bored .50 mm, hi-po head with new intake and exhaust valves, 3 angle valve job, premium Victor valve seals, mid range cam shaft, new oil pump, new water pump, reground crankshaft with new main and rod bearings, new timing belt and timing belt cover, new electric choke Weber carburetor, new Pacesetter header with high flow exhaust all the way to the back, new high flow radiator, new motor mounts, rebuilt distributor (this engine package alone, goes for $5,000 at our shop). New battery. New heavy duty clutch. Rebuilt transmission with rebuilt shift lever. Rebuilt transfer case with rebuilt shift lever. New starter relay. New brakes. New wheel bearings. Emergency brake works perfectly. The front top of cab has a custom non-removable tin top roof. Rear section is a new Rally pickup style insulated top with sliding rear window. It is removable and lockable. This makes for a very unique and user friendly Samurai--(it makes for a much quieter ride in the cab). Interior has all new ABS textured black panels (see photos). Panels cover the doors, rear quarters and tailgate. Perfect dash with new cubby door. Nice comfortable seats with new seat covers. New 215x75R15 MT BFGoodrich tires on new 7" polished aluminum American Racing wheels. New center caps and lug nuts. New AM/FM/CD player with new antenna. Suzuki made many upgrade improvements for the 1988.5 Samurai which include: new improved dash, steering wheel, more compliant leaf springs with teflon inserts, a larger outboard sway bar (making this much more stable) and lower and more usable 5th gear ratio. This Samurai originally came with air conditioning--the wiring switch and the evaporator are still intact...to make functional the hoses, compressor and condenser would have to be added back by the new owner. Parts are available. Call Rod. Google SamuraiSalvage to see our Facebook photo gallery for other restorations and to see our inventory of new and used parts for your Samurai, Sidekick or Tracker. Reasonable transport quotes are available to the potential serious buyer. We can also meet buyer at the Des Moines International airport, train station or bus depot at no extra fee. Call Rod with questions at 641-751-2468. This Samurai is also available for sale on our Samurai lot, and we reserve the right to end the auction early, but once the reserve is met, it will no longer be for sale on our lot, and the high bidder of the auction will win this Samurai. This is an expensive restoration--- If you are looking for a cheap Samurai--this is not the one. |

It's a hard knock life for a N"urburgring rental car
Wed, 12 Dec 2012Rental cars get no respect. They're abused, misused and flogged mercilessly as athletes in Rental Car Olympics. And that's just at your everyday airport rental counter. The torture gets extreme for rental cars thrashed around Germany's infamous Nürburgring.
Rent4Ring expects its customers to drive its cars around the 'Ring with enthusiasm and, in some cases, less skill than the pros. Rent4Ring just recently retired its Suzuki Swift Sport from its fleet and shared the car's two-year-plus lifetime highlights.
The little hatchback made more than 2,800 laps of the 'Ring over three seasons amounting to more than 310,000 miles driven by 457 different drivers. "Some were fast, some were slow. Some were nice to the car, a few were frankly awful," says a Rent4Ring rep.
Trick motorcycle rider breaks world record for fastest wheelie
Tue, Sep 29 2015The world record for the fastest wheelie ever was broken last week in a British racing event by certifiably crazy man Gary Rothwell. It goes without saying, but we'll say it anyway: don't try this at home, kids. On September 20, in at an airstrip in York, England, Rothwell rode his 540-horsepower turbocharged Suzuki Hayabusa 209.8 miles per hour over while balancing entirely on his rear wheel. Rothwell beat the previous world record by a whopping 10 miles an hour, according to Gizmag. Rothwell was going overboard to ensure he cinched the title. He was still miffed over his failure to break the record last month. He only reached 197.8 miles per hour in that attempt, just shy of it. Rothwell also holds world records for being the fastest man on skis, which involved him jumping off the back of his bike and being pulled along at 150 miles per hour on titanium skis. He completed the wheelie at the last Straightliners Top Speed event of the year. Straightliners is known for hosting the fastest of anything. This year featured everything from a shed that traveled over 88 miles per hour to a jet-powered shopping cart. They also welcome trick riders of all flavors to come and share their expertise. Future Classic: 1996-1998 Suzuki X-90
Thu, Nov 3 2022SUVs are absolute cash cows, and because of that, automakers don’t often take risks in their design and execution. Oh, sure, the occasional Evoque Coupe or Murano CrossCabriolet slips through the cracks, but by and large most SUVs have four doors, two or three rows of seats and a hatchback for your cargo. But in the 1990s, carmakers were still experimenting with SUVs, so things occasionally got weird, and nothing embodied weirdness quite like the Suzuki X-90. Half SUV, half coupe, half roadster (three halves – see, super weird), the X-90 was all about fun in the sun. It was wild and had lots of personality. SuzukiÂ’s liÂ’l guy was unlike anything else on the road. Why is the Suzuki X-90 a future classic? The X-90 was SuzukiÂ’s followup to the ill-fated Samurai – you know, the SUV that was “easier to flip than a toilet seat,” according to reports from the time. The X-90 was much safer, with standard features like driver and passenger airbags, as well as antilock brakes, but it still fully embodied the SamuraiÂ’s have-fun-anywhere ethos. “Cute utes” were a growing subset of small SUVs in the ‘90s, and wow did the X-90 fully lean into this demeanor. It was tiny – only slightly longer and taller than a modern Fiat 500 – with two doors, two seats, a removable T-top roof and a sedan-like trunk with a spoiler for added flourish. Its 6.3 inches of ground clearance gave it a tiny-tough trucky stance, and you could get it in vibrant colors like purple and teal. It even had seat fabric that looked like ‘90s jazz cups. So cool. What is the ideal example of the Suzuki X-90? Since it was a low-volume product that was only sold for a couple of years (adding to its scarcity today), there werenÂ’t many differences between the X-90s that came to the U.S. All of ‘em were powered by a 1.6-liter inline-four engine with a blistering 95 horsepower and 98 pound-feet of torque. Buyers could choose between rear- and four-wheel drive, as well as a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission. Going for the stick-shift gave you a slight edge on fuel economy, with the EPA rating both RWD and 4WD X-90s at 24 mpg combined, compared to 22 mpg with the automatic. Considering its core mission was all about having a whale of a time, the smartest way to spec an X-90 is with the five-speed manual and four-wheel drive.
