Selling a 2006 Subaru WRX STi.  Car is white with gold BBS wheels.  This car is bone stock, never modified.  54k miles, with clean/clear title.  2.5 liter turbocharged boxer engine, with 6 speed manual transmission.  Autocheck report does not show any accidents, with 2 owners since new.

This vehicle sustained damage to the front and rear.  I'm not an adjuster, but this is what I can see.  Damage to the rear is minimal, as seen in pictures.  The front took a shot to the front left, also seen in pictures.  Complete front bumper cover needs to be replaced, as well as left headlight.  Left fender can be repaired, and radiator support can be pulled.  This car will need a new radiator and ac condensor, as well as a driver airbag.  Passenger as well as seat airbags are good.  The rear needs a bumper cover as well as a right tail light, and minimal bodywork/paint.  It will need several sensors in the engine (I believe mass air meter and throttle position sensor).  Great car for anyone that have auto rebuilding skills, or have discounts at a bodyshop.

Interior and exterior (minus the damaged parts) are very clean.  This is a nice, low mileage car.

I do have an OEM radiator, rear bumper cover and driver airbag I can sell with the car for extra.

No reserve auction, so bid to win.  If you want it right now, use the buy it now option!!

I have to collect sales tax for buyers in NY (you won't pay a 2nd time to DMV.  Tax receipt will be issued to you).  All other states, you pay sales tax to your state when you title/register the car.

We do not finance cars, but you can feel free to apply for auto loan at your local bank.  Since this is a clear title car, it can be financed!  Car and title will not be released until full payment is made.

This auction isn't limited to local buyers.  I can help arrange shipping/transport, but all costs are to be paid by buyer.  For a quote, please provide your town and zip code.  Usually they take a $150 deposit up front, and you pay the balance of shipping on your end when it arrives at your door.

I reserve the right to cancel this auction if it sells by means other than eBay.  If you want the car, bid, or use the buy it now options.

I have a copy of the Autocheck report, ran today (5/29/13).  I can forward the complete report over if you provide an email address, to verify the clean title.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.  Happy bidding, and good luck!!

LA Design Challenge invokes biology for 2025 concepts [w/poll]

Wed, 13 Nov 2013

Participants in the annual LA Design Challenge always manage to come up with edgy, wacky designs for future vehicles, but with a theme of "Biomimicry and Mobility: 2025" this year's crop of cars might be the quirkiest we've ever seen. As usual, automotive designers from around the world participated in this year's competition, and all the designs will all be unveiled next week during the LA Auto Show with a winner being announced on November 21.
Chinese automakers made a strong showing with Qoros, SAIC Motor, JAC Motors (the company responsible for the Ford F-150 clone) and Changfeng all bringing interesting takes on the biology, human intelligence and sustainability theme. One of the more innovative ideas among these automakers is the Qoros Silk Road System allows autonomous vehicles to drive in packs similar to how ants travel. Speaking of ants, the SAIC Motor Mobiliant (shown above) gets its design from the shape of an ant's body, and, like the insect, it can climb building acting as a personal elevator as well. The JAC Motors design also merges vehicle and building design, while the Changfeng LaBrea inspired by the design of muscle fibers.
Other entrants include Subaru and US-based design teams for BMW, Toyota and Mazda. BMW's duo of concepts mimic plant and animal life. The LA Subways concept acts as a submersible, single-person vehicle to take advantage of the LA river, with a shape similar to an Ocean Sunfish. The Sustainable Efficient Exploratory Device (SEED) imitates the shape of a seed pod, and uses propulsion methods inspired by a shark, dragonfly and a water bug. Mazda's Auto Adapt might be the most car-like concept of the bunch, while the Subaru Suba-Roo and the Calty-designed, Toyota e-grus are the most mind-blowingly awesome.

Fri, Feb 7 2020

In this week's Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by West Coast Editor James Riswick. First they talk about driving the Volvo V60 Cross Country and Ford Explorer ST, with some thoughts about the Subaru Outback and Super Bowl commercials as well. Then they dive into the mailbag, answering questions and following up on the outcomes of previous "Spend My Money" segments. Finally they wrap things off with a new "Spend My Money," in which they help a listener pick a new car that will accommodate a new, tiny family member without sucking all the fun out of driving. 2015 Subaru WRX STI

Mon, 17 Feb 2014

In December, I put the 2015 Subaru WRX through its paces along some incredibly challenging roads in northern California, and to say I walked away impressed wouldn't really do my feelings justice. Say what you will about the way it looks, the new 'Rex is an awesome car, full stop. When it comes to all-weather sports sedans that won't break the bank, it's very tough to beat the WRX.
But then there's its big brother - the STI. The winged wonder. The rally superstar. The car that, to many - and to me - represents all that is right in the world of dirt-and-gravel thrills. Sharp as the WRX has always been, the hardcore STI model has always been a little bit sharper. But in recent years, that hasn't always been a good thing. What I've liked most about the WRX is the fact that it's not an always-on attack missile - it can be forgiving, easy to drive, and if I'm honest, reasonably comfortable. Because of that, in the WRX/STI debate, I've preferred the former for daily driving activities. I've always had a thing for That Wing, but in the outgoing car, the STI was never really far and away a more rewarding car to drive, and it offered exactly zero upgrades in terms of comfort or refinement.
The 2015 WRX is easily the finest example of Subaru's hot hatch sedan to date. But what happens when you try to turn the dial past 11? I headed back to NorCal, including a stop at the historic Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, to find out.
