Selling my modified 2003 WRX car that's been set up as a daily driver for my daily 40 mile (highway) commute. This is my favorite car that I've ever owned. It's awesome in rain, snow, etc., and has never let me down. I have some bills to pay, so my loss is hopefully your gain. I'm starting this auction at no reserve and at $5K less than what I have in it.

Mechanically this car is 100%. I wouldn't hesitate to take it on a long road trip tomorrow. There are no leaks and everything works. The A/C blows ice cold and I've never had to recharge it. The heater will have you sweating in the winter and the 5 speed manual transmission shifts great. All the windows roll up and down just fine. The key fob and power door locks work great, too. Everything I know on this car works just like it's supposed to.

The list of mods is below. All the mods were done at 112K miles by a local Subaru performance shop owned/operated by a guy who used to run my local Subaru service department (he knows his stuff). Before then, the car was almost 100% stock and unmolested. The tires are even newer, just a couple of months old and have about 3K miles on them.

- Blouch 16GXT billet turbo
- STI top mount intercooler
- STI pink injectors
- STI downpipe
- STI uppipe
- STI crossover pipe
- STI ignition coils
- Devil's Own meth injection kit w/ safety features (uses 50/50 methanol/water mix)
- Subaru performance intake
- ACT HDSS clutch
- JDM cat back exhaust
- Walbro 255 fuel pump
- New timing belt
- VIS carbon fiber hood w/ STI scoop
- New tires, alignment, fluids
- Polk audio 10" sub + amp
- Pioneer CD/MP3 player

Over $5K has been invested in this car during the last 13K miles and I have receipts for almost everything. All that needed to be replaced was replaced. It is currently tuned to around 325 whp/300 tq. It's very quick!

The bad...cosmetically, it's not in excellent shape. It has hail damage on the roof and the front bumper could use a new coat of paint (previous owner repainted). There are some other dings, scratches, small dents, etc. It's in the condition I'd expect a 10 year old car to be in. Some of the tint needs replacing as well. The driver's side front floormat is slightly, but could be fixed or replaced. If you want pictures of something specifically, let me know and I'll try to get them.

Clean Oklahoma title is in hand, ready to go her next owner.

Thanks for looking.

Plans for 7-seat Subaru Tribeca replacement becoming clearer

Mon, 11 Nov 2013

Subaru is going to have its hands full at the Tokyo Motor Show next week, but while the Cross Sport Design Concept is expected to preview a Tribeca-replacing crossover, this new model could still be at least two years from production. It has already been confirmed that production of the Tribeca will end early next year, but in speaking with Yasuyuki Yoshinaga, the president of Subaru's parent Fuji Heavy Industries, Automotive News is reporting that there will be a lengthy gap between the Tribeca and its eventual replacement.
The next-gen three-row crossover wasn't included in an annual production capacity goal of 500,000 units expected in the US by the end of 2016, so it's likely that we won't see this much-needed CUV until 2017. While the details of this new model aren't known, Yoshinaga told AN that it will be "completely different" from the Tribeca. As we heard back in February, we do expect this seven-passenger crossover to grow in size in order to offer a larger cabin with more third-row space.
Automotive News even mentions that the Tribeca replacement could be based on the existing Subaru Exiga from the Japanese market. That three-row vehicle splits the difference between a minivan and wagon, with swinging doors instead of sliders, and a tall greenhouse.

2015 Subaru Impreza gets visual tweaks, added refinement

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

While our love for the Subaru Impreza is mostly reserved for its turbocharged WRX and STI models, there's still a fully competent, well-rounded package in the base model, now in its fourth generation. In order to keep it competitive, Subaru has given the Impreza a light refresh for the 2015 model year, and while the car hasn't changed much mechanically, there are a number of thoughtful updates in store for the revised model.
Most noticeably, the front end has been touched up, with a revised lower fascia that's a bit more aggressive than before, nicely incorporating foglamps on higher-end models. Around back, not much has changed, though there's a new lip spoiler on sedan models to improve aerodynamics. Inside, a new infotainment system is available, with a seven-inch color touchscreen, and Subaru's EyeSight driver assistance package can now be had on the Limited models. There's also an updated instrument cluster with an LCD color display, new door and shifter trim, a standard rearview camera, and a few tuning enhancements that allow for a quieter ride, according to Subaru's release.
Under the hood is the same 2.0-liter boxer four-cylinder engine as before, with 148 horsepower on tap, mated to either a five-speed manual or continuously variable transmission. Subaru notes that there's a quicker ratio for the electronic power-assisted steering (that's a good thing), and reminds us that the Impreza is still pretty fuel-efficient considering its standard all-wheel drive, able to achieve 28 miles per gallon in the city, 37 mpg highway and 31 mpg combined.

Subaru takes another look back, this time at the 2004 WRX STI

Sat, 21 Dec 2013

Here we have the followup to the rally-mimicking Impreza 22B STI that Subaru recently chronicled in its Vintage Garage series: the 2004 Impreza WRX STI. Displacement for the boxer four was upped from 2.2 liters to 2.5, and after noticing how many buyers had installed larger turbochargers on their WRXs, Subaru decided to bolt on one in-house. That gave the final product 300 horsepower and a 0-to-60 mile-per-hour run of just 4.6 seconds.
It was stiffer, it's body from nose to front doors was penned by Peter Stephens, he of the McLaren F1, it came with a driver-controlled center differential, driver-activated cooling spray for the turbos and 300 pound-feet of torque. This is a curio from a time when, after a new WRX STI came out, you started poring through magazines to see how the Mitubishi Evo was going to respond. You can find out more about it in the video below.
