2002 Subaru Wrx Wagon Black - For Rebuild Or Parts - One Owner - Many New Parts on 2040-cars
Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, United States
One owner vehicle. Test driven with 1.4 miles on it and then purchased. Twelve years I have enjoyed this car and rebuilt a lot of it at 207,000 miles ie. timing belt, water pump. front struts, front end rebuilt so that it is aligned to factory specs, wires, hoses etc. At 234,000 it received rear struts and the sub frame was replaced with new. It now has over 241,000 miles on it and its time for it to go as a 2015 WRX has replaced it. The body is major dent free, although the rear quarter panels are rusting.. The interior is in great shape with no rips, tears or stains. All the glass was replaced and many body panels fixed in 2008 due to an ice storm/tree branches. The ac works. The sound system has an added power boost/sub woofer in a cabinet bolted to the frame under the passenger's seat and the 6 disc cd changer still works. Sad to say the stereo is 5x better in this car after 12 years than the new Subaru's. It is being sold as a total rebuild candidate, a fixer upper or to be cannibalized for parts. The engine had an overheating incident, but was virtually perfect before with no oil leaks and has never burned oil. The awd, transmission and engine have never needed work. Needs a new clutch as the original just went after 241,000+ miles but the car was driveable and a daily driver until it overheated on labor day. Only 10,000 wagons came to America in black in 2002 so the car is rare. Best car I have ever owned and I will miss her.

Upcoming Subaru WRX STI rumored to get hybrid drivetrain
Tue, Dec 8 2015Subaru might electrify the next-gen WRX STI. According to a rumor from Motoring in Australia citing an unnamed Subie insider, the brand's engineers reportedly have two hybrid systems under development for the future model. The move would allow the STI to boost power output and improve fuel economy and lower emissions to keep up with US regulations. According to Motoring's speculation, the next STI might use an electric motor at the back to power the rear axle and an upgraded version of the FA20 turbocharged 2.0-liter at the front. A new dual-clutch six-speed gearbox would help the power get to the road, and the total system could allegedly offer around 322 horsepower versus 305 hp from the current US model. This rumor also claims the next-gen STI would continue as a sedan when it arrives in 2017. Like previous iterations, the four-door will share underpinnings with the Impreza, which will mean a move to Subaru's new modular platform. The standard hybrid might only be the beginning of electrification for the future STI. Motoring's source also claims the company has a plug-in hybrid variant under development, but it might not debut until the 2018 Tokyo Motor Show. A hybrid STI could be exciting, but until there are solid facts, this rumor joins a long history of powertrain speculation about the high-performance Subaru. In 2008 and 2010, reports emerged about a diesel version, but it never appeared. We once even heard that the current-gen WRX might boast an electric turbo.
Acura may go all AWD in bid to mimic Subaru's success
Mon, 13 Oct 2014Acura's struggles have been well publicized. The Honda-owned luxury brand doesn't seem sure of where it's going or what it's trying to accomplish, with its cars and marketing lacking a coherent theme. Now, a new report from Automotive News claims that the brand could follow the success of Subaru and (to a lesser extent) Audi, and adopt all-wheel-drive as standard across its model range.
"I think that's the way we should go," Acura boss Koichi Fukuo told Automotive News.
Acura already offers some form of all-wheel drive on every vehicle in its line aside from the lamentable ILX sedan. That could change as Acura begins rolling out next-generation versions of its still relatively new stable of sedans and crossovers.
New Subaru Legacy may be getting smaller six-cylinder and sport models
Thu, 13 Feb 2014Subaru gave the next-generation, 2015 Legacy a brand new, more sophisticated platform and improved interior at the Chicago Auto Show, but the engines were carried over barely changed from the previous gen. However, if a rumor from Car and Driver turns out to be true, then the power trains may be getting upgraded as well.
A source within Subaru indicates that the aging 3.6-liter flat-six might finally be getting a replacement in favor of a smaller, more powerful six-cylinder engine, and the four-cylinder may get direct injection. Both of them would be ready for the new Legacy's mid-cycle refresh in about three years, and they would likely be shared by new Outback too.
The turbocharged, GT trim has been absent from the US-market Legacy for the last few model years, but the insider hinted that it might make a return in the coming years. The new version would use the 2.0-liter turbocharged flat-four found in the Forester and the WRX. Though like the Forester, a turbocharged Legacy would likely only be available with the CVT.
