1979 Subaru Brat Xti Wrx Subie Monster Road Race Drift Weekend Warrior Daily on 2040-cars
Salisbury, North Carolina, United States
1979 GEN 1 subaru brat The BRAT was built by a machinist and welding professor from Oregon who later moved to NC. It has tons of custom work done to it. All of the suspension is custom installed as is the drivetrain and even the side skirts and fenders are custom. This BRAT is not your typical custom. It is powered by a estimated 170hp EA82T megasquirt controlled fuel injected turbo motor. The engine has been all rebuilt by the original builder and has less than 1000 miles on it since being rebuilt. The engine is a beast and this thing when properly tuned is like a rocket. The BRAt handles like it is on rails and is nice and sporty and firm. The suspension was also new when built so it is roughly 1000 miles also. The engine management system is a custom MEGASQUIRT system with MSD individual coil igniton and fuel injection and a WRX turbo boosting it up to 15lbs conservatively. The engine was built up with delta cams and stronger internals to handle the power. The 5 speed all wheel drive transmission shifts smoothly and accelerates very quickly. The battery is new, as is the water pump, all fluids have been checked and changed, and the radiator has been restored back to factory and the oil pump was also resealed and rebuilt. The tires on the truck are BF Goodrich mounted on 16x7.4" aluminum racing wheels, BF Goodrich G Force Sport 205/45/ZR 16 tires, and stopping is XT disk brakes all around. The interior is left up to the new owners so they can make it the way they want it. The seats are ready to bolt it after you decide on a color for the interior. I have black and brown interior dashes and other parts. the door panels are ready to be covered and i even have an original Clarion radio for the dash if you wish. The heat is hooked up and ready to run. It does not have A/C and with the two windows down and the rear window open both sides open cools great. The BRAT is a blast and does include the rear jump seats which are in great shape, a custom made bumper that just needs paint, aand a lot of spare interior parts. The paint and body work is decent. The color is great and a factory subaru 1980 color and the stripes are custom made just for this BRAT. The body work is marginal because this truck was built to enjoy and drive. It looks great from 10 feet but is in no way perfect or straight. I get is compliments when i drive it around town.
TRANSMISSION: EA82 2 piece driveshafts, custom front cv driveshafts in the front, and an AWD 5 speed transmission transfer all of the power to the ground at all 4 wheels
BRAKES: 1986 turbo XT master cylinder booster and disk brakes all around give everything that stopping power you need
SUSPENSION AND WHEELS: the BRAT is resting on XT suspension on each corner with full new coilover setup, 16x7.5" bronze racing wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich 205/45/ZR16 tires all around
INTERIOR AND WIRING: The BRAT has a stand alone wiring system for the engine and the stock BRAT wiring harness is running the axillaries. Gauges are factory gauge cluster all working but the Tach signal is a bit off, gas gauge sending unit is rebuilt, AutoMeter boost, oil pressure and engine coolant temperature gauge (not working) are all installed and working except the coolant gauge needle fell off. It can be removed and sent back to AutoMeter for repair or replacement. Innovate LC1 wideband O2 setup is installed for mega squirt auto tune and the gauge is installed in the dash but not hooked up as i have been reading the WIDEBAND setup on the laptop. Seats are from a mid 90s Honda prelude and covered in gray and red tweed professionally. The door panels are stock uncovered and the bottom pressed plastic covers are included but not installed because of the Blaupunkt speakers that may or may not be left installed which i will leave up to the new owners decision. The radio is a modern Subaru unit that does work and i also am including an un cut black dash piece with the a factory working Clarion radio. The dash in the BRAT is cracked but included is a nice uncut dash with a black dash cover. There are also black arm rests included and other miscellaneous extra dash pieces. There is also newer black carpet installed and the truck has FatMat noise cancelling from the roof to the floor and the doors.
The truck does run and drive and is a beast... It will need the interior finished to your liking and the seats mounted. The horn is not hooked up. The MEGASQUIRT will need retuned after you purchase it to your area. It does tune great but the computer is sensitive to altitude and pressure changes. Only other thing it MAY need is a small, like less than 1/2 gallon, cavitation tank. Either that or pull the gas tank and remove a section of baffle at the outlet of the gas tank. Sometimes under heavy acceleration the fuel pump by the tank will starve for a second or 2 and loose pressure for a minute. All things could be done in a weekend to make it your liking and setup whether a road racing weekend warrior or a daily driver for the snow cabin. $500 paypal non-refundable deposit due within 48 hours of auction ending, final payment due within 7 buisness days of auction closing This truck will not diasspoint and all the hard work is done I just left a few things to let the new owner make it their own! BID TO WIN, THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER BRAT LIKE THIS EVER!!!!!

2014 Subaru WRX and STI pricing announced
Wed, 07 Aug 2013As the sun prepares to set on the third-generation Subaru WRX, Subaru has released the pricing for the 2014 WRX and WRX STI. With redesigned versions of both cars due out next year, prices for the current car have risen by just $200 across the entire 2014 lineup resulting in new starting MSRPs of $25,995 for the WRX and $34,495 for the more powerful WRX STI (*not including destination).
The destination charge has also crept up for the 2014 WRX and WRX STI models climbing slightly from $770 to $795. A final pricing adjustment for this bodystyle's send-off year is that the optional navigation system went from $1,000 in 2013 up to $1,100 for 2014. Scroll down for the full model pricing breakdown, and keep a lookout for the all-new 2015 WRX and WRX STI, which we'd expect to see in production form in the coming months.

Subaru readying special-edition BRZ
Fri, 14 Feb 2014Another week coming to a close brings another rumor of a potential hotted-up version of the Subaru everyone wants to turbocharge, the BRZ.
A fresh rumor out of the Car and Driver offices makes the claim that a new, special-edition BRZ model will be offered up within the next few months. Word is that the new model will not get similar upgrades to the recent BRZ tS (seen above) for the Japanese market, meaning we're likely in for a cosmetic update instead of a functional one.
The looks of the tS could still be in the cards, however, meaning swapped-out lip spoiler, wheels and even STI badging might be on the way.
Subaru confirms 2015 WRX STI to grace Detroit show stand
Fri, 03 Jan 2014Now that we've seen and driven the 2015 Subaru WRX, it's time to set our sights on the car's more powerful and traditionally massively winged counterpart: the STI. And while a few rumors about the new STI have already leaked, Subaru today confirmed that we'll be seeing the hotter 'Rex at the Detroit Auto Show later this month. Hot diggity.
Last we heard, the new STI will still use a turbocharged, 2.5-liter boxer-four (remember, the standard WRX uses a version of the 2.0-liter engine found in the Forester) producing something like 300 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque. What's more, don't expect the STI to hatch a five-door variant - Subaru recently told us that there are no plans to offer anything beyond a sedan bodystyle for both versions of the WRX. Sad trombone, we know.
That said, if our time with the 2015 WRX sedan is anything to go by, this new STI should be pretty rad. The new WRX is significantly sharper than the outgoing model (in terms of driving dynamics, anyway - it's still a pretty ugly little thing), and we fully expect the STI to be a bulgier, harsher, more powerful and aggressive version of the already awesome street-legal rally car. We're just hoping it will be offered with WRC-correct gold wheels, too.
