Evo shakes down Subaru WRX STI on Swedish tarmac

The Subaru WRX STI has never let anyone question its intentions. With a gaping hood scoop up front, massive rear wing at the back and often found with gold wheels spinning all four corners at the ground, there was never anything subtle about this Subaru. The latest 2015 version is made up of many new parts, but the formula certainly hasn't changed. Evo's Henry Catchpole aims to find if it all still jives together on some misty, Swedish backroads in a new video.
Surprisingly, the movie eschews Evo's standard shtick of big, smoky powerslides in favor of a legitimate review of the new STI. However, this isn't Consumer Reports. As the screenshot above implies, Catchpole isn't afraid to chuck the car around a little and put two wheels off the road all in the name of testing the severe sedan's limits. He just puts an equal amount of focus into how it actually drives.

The 2023 Japan Mobility Show managed to serve up a surprise heap of exciting and futuristic designs and production reveals. This year's show featured introductions from Daihatsu, Honda, Lexus, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Suzuki and Toyota. Some are weird; some are wild; most are probably destined to change significantly before production or merely fade into the void with the rest of the industry's vaporware, but if even a few of these make it to showrooms, we'll consider it a win. We're going to drive Subarus through Patagonia

Later this month, Chris McGraw and I are going on an adventure. We're heading to South America with Subaru to drive cars through the wilderness, including the gorgeous landscape of Patagonia. It'll sort of be like that Top Gear episode, just without, you know, all the bad stuff (we hope). Since this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, we're doing a huge blowout of coverage, and we want to bring you along for the ride. From February 16-21, we'll be posting video updates and a ton of social media coverage, so be sure to watch the Autoblog site as well as our YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter feeds for all of the latest sights and sounds from our amazing trip. Of course, we'll have a big feature story wrapping the whole experience up, after we get back and shake off some of the jet lag.
