2004 Subaru Outback Base Wagon 4-door 2.5l on 2040-cars
Lake Clear, New York, United States
04 Subaru Wagon. I have driven this car between Saranac Lake and Plattsburgh, for the past three years. I am the second owner of the car and purchased it three years ago with 153,000 on it. At that time I did the water pump, thermostat and timing belt as well as the seals. I also replaced the radiator and the power steering pump and the front pads and rotors. In the past year and a half I have done the following work to the car: rear pads and rotors, rear calipers, front right wheel bearing, both front CV shafts replaced (NAPA lifetime), new O2 sensors, exhaust from the front to the rear (over$1600 for this alone), rear diff changed with synthetic gear oil. The engine is in perfect condition as well as the rear sub frame and the underneath of the car. I took time in the winter on the warmer days to clean the car well, to get the infamous NYS salt off the car. Now the bad parts the body is rusty in some typical Suby areas, the windshield is cracked and bank one sensors two and three need to be replaced. I will supply the new O2 sensors when the car is sold (Bosh heated), as the car will need to be inspected and these sensors are the only problem. I can also assist in getting a used windshield to be put in the car, or a new one is around $335 installed through Safelight. I also have extra winter tires mounted on rims as well, and another set of summer tires. Oil changes every 5000 miles with synthetic motor oil.

Subaru WRX STI prototype spied in motion
Thu, 18 Apr 2013Earlier this week, we got all hot and bothered over a set of spy photos showing the next-generation Subaru WRX STI testing at the Nürburgring. And while pretty still shots of a camouflaged car are always nice to look at, stirring up lots of speculation, having video is even better. Good thing, then, that our trusty spies were on hand to get some rolling footage of that STI as it lapped the infamous German track.
Now, as a good majority of the comments on our previous post will point out, it looks like Subaru has dumbed down the design of that decidedly hot WRX Concept from New York for the road-going car. Of course, we need to wait until all that swirly paper is pulled off the body, but from what we can see here, it looks like this new 'Rex will be more akin to the current Impreza than we were originally led to believe.
So while we wait and hope that what's under the camouflage will be something sexy, have a look at the video below to watch the WRX STI prototype get worked out on the 'Ring.
2015 Subaru WRX gets down and dirty
Fri, 13 Dec 2013Looks rarely tell the whole story. We'll admit to being a bit let down by the Subaru WRX and its rather conservative appearance - where were the gold wheels and the spoilers? Hatchback? World Rally Blue? But after seeing it in this video and hearing that signature, throaty growl while this red example drifts and slides around dirt roads, we're starting to get more excited.
While the growl is the main reason for watching the clip below (you should do that now), Subaru has also thrown in some information about the improved suspension, and increased power. Learn along with us, below.
Subaru WRX hatchback mule spotted
Tue, 02 Sep 2014Despite on-again, off-again rumors, this latest set of spy shots seems to indicate that yes, a five-door Subaru WRX is indeed in the works. Subtlety is key with this test mule, but there are clear bits of evidence that indicate a hotter hatchback is what's being developed here.
First, notice the WRX-spec front fascia grafted onto this ordinary-looking Impreza hatch. From there, we can clearly see the tiny bit of added width - most obvious on the roof and at the rear, near the fuel door and taillamps. And of course, let's not forget about that bulge in the hood, consisting of a metal panel that covers the hood scoop and can apparently be removed thanks to a series of screws, according to our spies. The WRX's more robust exhaust and larger wheel/tire package have not been added to this mule, though we're told that this is commonplace for Subaru prototypes - those bits should be added on as the car's development progresses.
We fully expect a WRX hatchback to be, well, just that - mechanically, it should be identical to the sedan brethren, though our spies indicate that Subaru could be testing an updated version of the WRX-spec boxer engine. Of course, there's always a chance that this could be something else entirely, given the on-and-off reports of the five-door 'Rex's existence in the first place...
