Listed is my 1996 Subaru Legacy Outback Station Wagon. It has been an incredible vehicle for me. These Subarus are built like tanks and will run forever. The exterior of the car is in fair to good condition. Meaning that there is sign of normal wear. Scratches and some small dents (shown in picture). But all around looks great. Tires are nearly brand new less than 3,000 miles on them. Plastic on rear, right taillight is cracked, and right front headlight is burnt out. The interior of the vehicle is immaculate. Very clean and from a non-smoker. All power windows work perfectly. The car needs new rotors for the brakes, pretty inexpensive. The vehicle does have an issue, known to the subaru world as Torque Binding. This just means that when you turn sharply at slow speed (turning into a parking space) you feel and hear a bumping and lurching. This is not damaging to the vehicle and if you are able to live with the bumping as I did than no need to get it fixed. It would cost upwards of $500.00 to fix it. In all honesty this is a wonderful vehicle. It is strong, reliable, and gets good gas mileage 29 highway 18 city. Also, vehicle comes with hitch installed 1-7/8 ball. NOTE I will include my 4'x8' utility trailer to the person who opts for the buy it now option. Or winning bidder can buy the trailer for an additional $250.00 if interested. Email me to request photos of trailer. If you have any questions regarding anything that I have said, or have possibly missed, please let me know. All the best and good luck on becoming the next owner of this awesome wagon that will take you to some great places. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A NEARLY PERFECT RATING DO NOT BID, IT WILL BE DELETED. SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY. WILL NOT SHIP, MUST ARRANGE PICK-UP OR OTHER MEANS OF GETTING VEHICLE. $500.00 DEPOSIT MUST BE SENT VIA PAYPAL IMMEDIATELY UPON CLOSING OF AUCTION.

US Army tests Subaru-powered hybrid truck
Sat, 04 Jan 2014The military has been studying the implementation of alternative drivetrains for years, a tiny sampling of which includes the diesel-electric hybrid technical hauler and L-ATV from Oshkosh Defense and the Aggressor from Quantum Technologies. There was also ADA Technologies' work with ultracapitors, General Motors' focus on fuel cells and the roll out of electric motorcycles for Special Forces. In the Ultra Light Vehicle (ULV) prototype vehicle pictured above, we have the latest developments in the Department of Defense's hybrid interest combined with a need to develop a lightweight replacement for the AM General Humvee.
In 2010 the Office of the Secretary of Defense put the Army's Tank Automotive Research, Development, and Engineering Center (TARDEC) in charge of developing a personnel carrier that could "balance payload, performance and protection," and do so without exorbitant cost. Armored Humvees can weigh more than seven tons, and while the ULV is just under 14,000 pounds, the new vehicle can do a lot more with its weight.
The Subaru turbodiesel under the hood puts out 175 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. That's not much for pulling 13,916 pounds, so it's assisted by two Remy 410HVH HT electric motors each capable of adding 268 continuous hp and 369 peak hp, along with 844 lb-ft of continuous torque or 1,221 ft-lbs at peak. They're only limited by the 14.2 kWh lithium-ion battery rated at 65 kW of continuous power and 180 kW of peak power, but still, TARDEC says the ULV can do 21 miles on electric power and on the flats has a combined range of 337 miles at 35 mph.
Subaru revisits 1998 Impreza 22B STI
Thu, 05 Dec 2013It was 1998 when Subaru made some crucial changes to its World Rally Championship Impreza, such as increasing the displacement of the turbocharged flat-four-cylinder engine from 2.0 to 2.2 liters and fitting wide fender flares. Subaru won the WRC manufacturer championship with the car that year, and it also was the year of the automaker's 40th anniversary. To celebrate the milestone, the company came out with this limited-edition, road-going Impreza, the hallowed 22B STI, which looked nearly identical to the rally car.
Only 424 22Bs were built, and most of them stayed in Japan. But Dominick Infante, national manager of product communications at Subaru of America, was able to secure a drive in one of the only two 22Bs in the US. He details the car's history and some of the design and engineering cues that made the Impreza STI so popular both in motorsport and on the street, but we were caught up listening to the exhaust and admiring the timeless blue-and-gold paint. You should too, so head below to watch the video.
Subaru Levorg Concept has us dreaming about a WRX wagon
Wed, 20 Nov 2013We're not sure what got in the water supply of Subaru's Tokyo Motor Show team, but we like the results. After checking out the Cross Sport Design Concept, which we would love to see as a BRZ shooting brake, Subaru took the wraps off its Levorg Concept. Naming convention aside, the idea of a sport-tuned wagon with a boxer engine is music to our ears.
The design language fits in with recent Subaru products, and the Levorg's face is very similar to the 2015 WRX that was just unveiled across the Pacific Ocean at the LA Auto Show. In terms of its size, though, this concept is roughly the same as the current Outback, only it sits about five inches lower. Power comes from either of a pair of boxer engines: a fuel-efficient 1.6-liter or a 296-horsepower, 2.0-liter. Both engines would be paired to Subaru's Symmetrical all-wheel-drive system.
Subaru says that the Levorg is a thinly veiled version of the production sports tourer that will go on sale (likely in Japan and/or Europe) next spring. Could this mean we could soon see a sporty Legacy wagon in the US? We can only hope. More details about the Levorg are posted in the press release found below.
