2006 Subaru Legacy 2.5l Gt, Spec. B, #168/500 on 2040-cars
Maumee, Ohio, United States
2006 Subaru Legacy GT, Spec.B. This in #168 of only 500 made in 2006. 2.5L Subaru Boxer 4 cycle engine with all wheel drive. Bilstein suspension. I purchased this rare car new in 2006 and have loved it ever since. I have been the only owner and have used it as my primary vehicle for the past 8 years. The car has been meticulously maintained both inside and out. I have used only synthetic oil since I passed the 5,000 mile mark. The vehicle is in excellent mechanical condition and is still my primary vehicle. The car is in great shape with only a very dings on the drivers side door panel from an unfortunate incident in a parking lot. I added a Subaru cold air intake when I purchased the car and it was installed by the Subaru dealer. I also added an after market subwoofer and had the windows professionally tinted. Other than that the vehicle has not been modified. The 2006 Spec. Bs have a distinctive red brick leather interior that sets it apart from not only other makes, but also other Subarus. Power locks, windows and front seats. Heated front seats, side view mirrors and wiper blade feature on front windshield. Duel climate control. All electronics, displays and lights work perfectly. The Subaru navigation is DVD based and I purchased an update in 2009. As with the majority of Subarus from this model year, it has a 6 disc in dash CD player. I am selling the car because I now have three children and need a larger vehicle to accomodate them. I will be sad to watch this car drive away.

Subaru investing $400 million for Impreza production in Indiana
Thu, 09 May 2013As a part of a goal to increase its US sales tally up to 500,000 annual units by the end of the decade, Subaru is investing $400 million in its Lafayette, IN assembly plant in order to start building the Impreza in 2016. According to Automotive News, about half of that investment will be for a new paint plant while another big chunk will be used to extend the assembly line to allow for the increased capacity.
Currently, Subaru's Lafayette plant is responsible for building about 200,000 Legacy, Outback and Tribeca models each year (not including around 100,000 Toyota Camry sedans), but Subaru-specific output will be increased to 300,000 units, requiring an additional 900 new hires as well. Although a previous report suggested the Forester and Impreza would be moving Stateside, this AN article only mentions the hatchback and sedan versions of the Impreza being added to Lafayette - and no mention of the closely related XV Crosstrek.
Consumer Reports sneaks in early review of 2015 Subaru Outback
Wed, 21 May 2014Subaru is taking a bit of a measured risk with its new generation of Legacy and Outback. While they ride on a slightly larger platform than before, with a revised front-end design, neither of them looks to be a radical departure from models they replace. Instead of focusing on exterior styling, the Japanese brand is trying to make the vehicles better to own with more sound deadening, improved fuel economy and more available tech. Pricing for the 2015 Outback isn't available yet, but with the 2015 Legacy pricing as a guide, it's likely a few hundred dollars more than the current model.
We just had our first stab at the new Legacy, which is slated to go on sale this summer, but Consumer Reports managed to snag an early look at the 2015 Outback in a sort of mini-review to get an idea of how the new model shakes out. Like many, we'd wager, CR isn't completely sold on the new styling, but seems otherwise moderately impressed by the upgrades. The improvements to the interior and infotainment system are especially well received by them. Naturally, though, CR notes that not everything is perfect with the high-riding wagon.

Subaru debuts tougher-looking Outback for Australia [w/poll]
Tue, 17 Sep 2013If you're going to name a car after a specific location or region, you'd better make sure it's taken seriously in the place it's named for. You're not likely to see a Chevrolet Monte Carlo in Monaco, and the Alfa Romeo Montreal was never even officially offered in North America, but the Subaru Outback is another story.
Subaru apparently takes the Australian market, whose wilderness its jacked-up Legacy wagon is named for, very seriously. So it is apparently rolling out a revised version of the current Outback in Australia itself. The updated Outback, which arrives less than a year before the all-new model is expected to bow, answers Aussie customer feedback with a more rugged look. It's got new roof rails, body cladding, wheel arches, mud flaps, underbody protection plates and blacked-out headlight surrounds and grille trim.
The Motor Report reports that the AUD $2,500 worth of extra equipment - around $2,300 USD - comes with just an AUD $500 ($468) price hike. As far as we can tell, though, there are no plans to bring this latest look to our shores - Subaru has already detailed North America's Outback for the 2014 model year, and these changes aren't mentioned. Should this look be offered in our market? Vote in the poll below and then have your say in Comments.
