1990 Subaru Legacy L Sedan 4-door 2.2l on 2040-cars
Huntington, West Virginia, United States
I bought this from my friend who is a certified Subaru technician. He tells me the origin motor had thrown a rod and he replaced it with a unit with about 40,000 miles on it. That was less than 10,000 miles ago. So, despite the age of the car, the actual miles on the chassis and the motor are relatively low. I bought this as a first car for my 16 y/o son but apparently it doesn't offer enough swag so he has moved on. It has those electronic seat belts and no airbags. Runs well, title clear, interior clean with dash/plastics in impressive condition. This car is 24 years old and the paint is faded but that actually is quite even. There is a dent on the passenger door/front quarter panel that was there when we bought it. It does make it so you have to open that door to fully raise the passenger side window. Title is clear and in hand. Whoever may purchase it will have to pick it up as I will not ship it. I've driven this many times and it's definitely a good car.

Ever wonder how to really pronounce Japanese automaker names?
Thu, 25 Sep 2014People tend to get very set in their ways when it comes to the pronunciation of words. Just look at the endless debates over whether or not to say the final 'e' in Porsche (which you should in terms of correct German enunciation). Or the argument about whether to follow the British convention and give the 'u' in Jaguar a special delivery or to say the 'ua' diphthong as more of a 'w' sound, as usually happens in the US.
This short video doesn't answer either of those automotive questions, but it does allow a native Japanese speaker to demonstrate the accepted pronunciations for several, major automakers from the country. One benefit is that it clears up the occasional debate over whether Nissan should be said with a long or short 'i' sound. Also, listen closely to how the female host says Mazda as Matsuda, the way it's actually said in the language. Even if this doesn't change the way you enunciate these brands, at least now you know the accurate way in Japanese.
2015 Subaru Outback
Wed, 22 Oct 2014Realistically, many enthusiasts give horrible, horrible car buying advice. They will recommend something bizarre, inappropriately high performance, compromised or utterly impractical for a given consumer's needs, and they'll almost never recommend something that makes sense. And then they'll come up with 3.7 million reasons why the leading vehicle someone is thinking about is a bad choice.
Or maybe that's just what I do.
Regardless, if you poke, prod, bother or just get us drunk enough, eventually you'll begin getting honest feedback. And more than likely, we'll tell you, in hushed tones, about the many virtues of very, very boring cars. We'll talk about why the Toyota Camry is actually a pretty decent purchase or we'll explain how spacious and feature laden the Nissan Versa is.
Subaru says Forester logs 8,000 JDM orders in first month, 4x expectations
Fri, 21 Dec 2012The 2014 Subaru Forester is not on sale yet here in the US, but it has been on sale in Japan since the middle of last month. In that time, Subaru says that the 8,149 customer orders it has received have more than quadrupled the original expectation of just 2,000 units.
To go along with these impressive orders so far, Subaru has also provided a breakdown of exactly what initial customers are ordering, and based on the numbers provided, it would appear that early customers are choosing well-equipped models. This includes almost 90 percent of all models being ordered with the new Subaru EyeSight system, and while close to two-thirds of the Forester models are equipped with the base 2.0-liter engine, the turbocharged Forester 2.0XT is the most popular individual trim level accounting for almost 40 percent of the orders out of four available trim levels. It will be interesting to see if this trend continues as more Foresters hit dealers, but this is definitely a good sign for the compact crossover right out of the gate.
There's a brief press release after the jump that gives a full breakdown of customer orders so far in Japan.
