Don't leave because this post doesn't look fancy. Trust me, this is the car you want. Don't waste time looking any further.

  • 17-18 city MPG, 21-25 Highway

  • 5 Speed manual transmission
  • Top of the line WRX
  • Comes with Winter Tires, Thule Roof Rack, and a snow brush/ice scraper.
USE & MAINTENANCE HISTORY
This is a 2010 WRX Limited Sedan with 37711 miles on it. It's driving style and pickup are easily comparable to a 335i, except you can do even more in the winter!
I am selling it at such a competitive price because my twin brother has the same car and we're moving to California together, so no need for the extra vehicle.

I always replaced oil on time or before scheduled service time (duh, who wouldn't) and used "super" octane fuel every time for cleaner burning.
It is currently running on synthetic oil just to make things a little easier (visiting Subaru so often is not my cup of tea and plus, synthetic is better!).
This vehicle was purchased from Subaru in August 2010 and has been owned by an MIT Engineer who really loves his Subaru's reliability and flexibility. You can be sure your car was NOT used as a toy, but instead as a means to make cool trips and memorable adventures in New England.

DAMAGE REPORT --> IN GREAT SHAPE
Accidents: NONE! Even the spare tire is still unused.

Exterior: It has no damage beyond minor scuffs and scratches due to normal wear and tear. That is, both bumpers are a little scuffed, and atop of the car you might notice 4 small scuffs from the roofrack (nothing a wax and buff couldn't clear up). The hood is completely clean. All 4 rims are very clean and one has an unnoticeable scratch along the outside (probably from a curb). Some of the photos may have light in them which may look like a serious dent, however, there are no serious dents and it is merely the curvature of the car. On the passenger side rear door, you'll see a small scratch above the handle. I would be happy to send an interested buyer more descriptive pictures, but you really need to get close to see these minor details.

Interior: There are no rips/tears in the leather seats. The interior has minor scratches on some doors, but all due to normal wear and tear, nothing noticeable. Other than that, the trim work is very, very scratch free and new looking.

UNMODIFIED & DRIVES LIKE NEW
Some Features: I tried my best to include all of the features of this car, but clearly if you're looking here, you're interested in a WRX that is running well w/ all of the amenities.
There are NO DRIVE-TRAIN OR SUSPENSION MODIFICATIONS. This car currently drives like a new WRX. I just (500 miles ago) had the steering belt and all struts / springs replaced under warranty.
The manual transmission still runs perfectly, and does not slip or make noise.

UNDER WARRANTY!
This car IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY with 32K MILES / 3 YEARS remaining, as it was purchased in August of 2010. I believe you can even extend that warranty another 30K (Subaru offers a "Platinum" warranty now that was not offered when purchasing the vehicle).

Upgrades/Work and ~$3000 EXTRAS:
  • Installed an optima yellowtop battery once this battery went down the drain. Optimas are some of the best batteries out there, so I thought I'd mention it.
  • Brakes were replaced 12K miles ago by Subaru
  • Installed an Alpine WXA-407 navigation unit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9ogLzrX9XQif you want to check it out. It really improved the sound quality of the stock speakers. It is compatible with Alpine's rear view reverse camera and comes with a Streetwire Zeronoise 3.5mm (headphone) jack for use with phones / ipods, laptops, etc.
  • Dynamatted interior (fully, under carpet, on roof, in doors, trunk, etc) so that the car doesn't shake and vibrate. It also lessens the amount of road noise and greatly improves speaker sound quality.
  • Premium quality UV protective dark tinted windows on all glass EXCEPT the driver's window and the windshield, as this is dangerous and probably illegal!
  • I'm selling this car with new OEM summer tires as well as the 4X Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25RFT Winter Tires(which have only been used for 1 winter for 3K miles).
  • Comes with a high quality Thule ski / snowboard rack for fun trips.
Cool Features of the Limited Version
  • HID Headlights that move --> focus out yonder and towards the vehicle at the push of a button. Great for foggy and low visibility situations.
  • Heated, comfy leather seats
  • The extended armrest for a more comfortable experience when driving a manual vehicle
  • All weather floor mats / trunk mat
  • Fog lights
DON'T BUY A MODIFIED CAR. IT WON'T BE UNDER WARRANTY!! SUBARU STOCK ENGINES ARE NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO HANDLE THE FORCES FROM THESE AFTERMARKET PARTS AND YOU WILL FIND YOURSELF SPENDING MORE TIME REPAIRING THE CAR THAN ENJOYING IT.

Subaru confirms 2015 WRX STI to grace Detroit show stand

Fri, 03 Jan 2014

Now that we've seen and driven the 2015 Subaru WRX, it's time to set our sights on the car's more powerful and traditionally massively winged counterpart: the STI. And while a few rumors about the new STI have already leaked, Subaru today confirmed that we'll be seeing the hotter 'Rex at the Detroit Auto Show later this month. Hot diggity.
Last we heard, the new STI will still use a turbocharged, 2.5-liter boxer-four (remember, the standard WRX uses a version of the 2.0-liter engine found in the Forester) producing something like 300 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque. What's more, don't expect the STI to hatch a five-door variant - Subaru recently told us that there are no plans to offer anything beyond a sedan bodystyle for both versions of the WRX. Sad trombone, we know.
That said, if our time with the 2015 WRX sedan is anything to go by, this new STI should be pretty rad. The new WRX is significantly sharper than the outgoing model (in terms of driving dynamics, anyway - it's still a pretty ugly little thing), and we fully expect the STI to be a bulgier, harsher, more powerful and aggressive version of the already awesome street-legal rally car. We're just hoping it will be offered with WRC-correct gold wheels, too.

To the end of the world in a Subaru

Fri, Apr 1 2016

On a quiet beach in southern Argentina, I stood in awe facing the Desdemona, a massive cargo ship that wrecked ashore in the mid-1980s and has remained untouched for the subsequent 30 years. In the intervening time, Desdemona was not vandalized, nobody broke her down and sold the parts for scrap, and unlike what you'd expect in the United States, no one set up shop to sell memorabilia in addition to a $5-beach entrance fee. This is only one of a thousand gorgeous vistas that make up Patagonia, the southernmost part of South America and, indeed, the end of the world. I was there to drive Subarus along dirt two-track roads and gravel highways on an epic journey from El Calafate to Ushuaia. Subaru would have you believe that this sort of rugged wilderness is the natural habitat for its cars. Whether or not that is a stretch, the Subies proved to be up to the task of trekking Patagonia. But I fully expected that from the get-go. What I didn't expect was how every part of this journey – the cars, the location, the people – would combine to form one of the greatest travel experiences of my life. View 85 Photos The end of the world. Patagonia is gorgeous, vast, brilliant. And those words don't even really do it justice. The plains, the lakes, the mountains, the forests all feel like every color is more vibrant, every detail is sharper. It's like looking at the world through an Instagram feed, and then realizing that every photo has the "no filter" hashtag. The journey started on Valentine's Day, with senior video producer Chris McGraw and I flying to Atlanta, followed by a 12-hour flight to Buenos Aires. That's where we met the rest of the group, and spent a day relaxing and exploring the Argentine streets and shops. "It's like looking at the world through an Instagram feed, and then realizing that every photo has the 'no filter' hashtag." But we still weren't at our start point. From Buenos Aires, we hopped a flight to El Calafate, about 1,500 miles southwest. It's a common entrance point to Patagonia for tourists and explorers because of its proximity to the Perito Moreno Glacier, a stunning site we visited the next day. Watch our earlier update video to see more about the glacier – an ice formation three times the size of Manhattan (and growing!). If Patagonia is on your bucket list of vacation destinations, this glacier is a mandatory stop. There's a boardwalk that runs along the lakes, leading right up to the face of the glacier.

IIHS says these are the safest cars of 2013

Wed, 02 Jan 2013

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has revealed its annual list of Top Safety Picks, an award that highlights automobiles it says offer "superior crash protection." A new and still more significant award, the Top Safety Pick+ honor, is given to those vehicles that earn good ratings for occupant protection in four out of five areas of measure. And while some 117 vehicles were given the TSP seal of approval for 2013, just 13 passed muster for TSP+.
To be fair, IIHS only evaluated 29 vehicles with its new testing procedures for TSP+ (we'd expect that the number of qualified cars will rise substantially for 2014). Luxury and Near Luxury midsize cars were the first groups evaluated, followed by midsizers in the Moderately Priced Cars category - unsurprisingly, it's only midsize cars that you'll find among the class this year.
Only two luxury sedans made the list of 13 for 2013: the Acura TL and Volvo S60. The other 11 cars on the list included entries from domestic, Japanese and German car makers: Dodge Avenger, Chrysler 200, Ford Fusion, Honda Accord (sedan and coupe), Kia Optima (but not its close kin, the Hyundai Sonata, strangely), Nissan Altima, Subaru Legacy and Outback, Suzuki Kizashi and the Volkswagen Passat all made the grade.
