Subaru recalls WRX and Forester 2.0XT for turbo intake problem

The Basics: Subaru will recall 18,200 examples of the 2015-2016 WRX and Forester 2.0XT. The WRX's have production dates between April 10, 2015, and October 21, 2015, and the Foresters come from April 10, 2015, to October 20, 2015. The Problem: The turbocharger intake duct can crack, which could cause the engine to run rough or stall. According to Subaru, this problem happens because a supplier used an incorrect material for a specific production lot of parts. Accidents/Injuries: None reported. The Fix: Dealers will inspect the turbocharger air intake duct. If the part is from the affected lot, then owners get a replacement. If you own one: Subaru hasn't yet told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration when this recall would begin. The turbocharger air intake duct may crack and possibly result in an engine stall. CONSEQUENCE: An engine stall increases the risk of a crash. REMEDY: Subaru will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the turbocharger air intake duct, and replace it as necessary, free of charge, depending on the lot number found on the duct. Subaru readying special-edition BRZ

Another week coming to a close brings another rumor of a potential hotted-up version of the Subaru everyone wants to turbocharge, the BRZ.
A fresh rumor out of the Car and Driver offices makes the claim that a new, special-edition BRZ model will be offered up within the next few months. Word is that the new model will not get similar upgrades to the recent BRZ tS (seen above) for the Japanese market, meaning we're likely in for a cosmetic update instead of a functional one.
The looks of the tS could still be in the cards, however, meaning swapped-out lip spoiler, wheels and even STI badging might be on the way.

Subaru recalls new Forester over pedal entrapment fears

Pedal entrapment and unintended acceleration are hot-button topics these days, so automakers are always staying alert for potential problems. For Subaru and its newly introduced 2014 Forester, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall due to improperly manufactured floor mats that could become an obstruction for the gas, brake or clutch pedals. The good news, of course, is that even if drivers experience this problem, the 2014 Forester comes standard with brake override.
At issue with the floor mats on 10,137 Forester models built between January and March of this year is that the resin material used on the underside of the mats can curl when exposed to heat. If the leading edge of the driver's mat curls enough, it can come in contact with the pedals making acceleration, braking and shifting more difficult - possibly resulting in a crash. To fix the problem, Subaru is replacing the entire set of floor mats in all of the affected units. The official NHTSA recall notice is posted below.
