Decided to go back to school so I can no longer afford the Sti.  I bought this is California, my wife and I moved here to Michigan about 1.5 years ago. The car is in great shape, it only has 16,000 miles.  I used to travel for work, so it sat in the garage.  It took me a year to put 5,000 miles on it.  I have been using it to commute daily for the past, almost year, since leaving that job and going back to school.  It has normal wear for this millage, a few small rock chips and scratches.  A touch up pen and a clay bar it would be like new.  It is in excellent condition.  Nothing bad with the car in any way, ever.  I have the maintenance package with it, so no cost other than tires for another 20k miles.  The car has not been modified, except for the grimspeed master cylinder brace, which I would not really consider a mod.  If you are unaware of this, it is basically a brace that bolts on the the top of the strut tower and sits against the master cylinder so it does not flex forward during braking.  No engine tuning or anything else.  I do have one year old Bridgestone Blizzack WS-70 winter tires that will go with it as well.  The car came with the options of SPT exhaust, short shifter - I did replace the bushing that Subaru should also change but does not with this shifter, fog lights, homelink/dim rear view, and Sti shift knob.  I also have the all weather mats.  Please feel free to call or text me at 561-601-8508 anytime or email me at dshauser13@yahoo.com   Thanks

Watch Higgins' mind-blowing Subaru WRX STI Isle of Man record lap in first-person

Fri, 27 Jun 2014

Have you gotten sick of Subaru and the Isle of Man? Good, we'd hope not, because of all the videos we've posted so far, today's is the crown jewel. In-car, around the notoriously treacherous race track, with commentary from David Higgins himself.
It gets better, though. Overlaid with the video is the same biometric data that we showed you last week. The result is a heart-pumping, 22-minute video of the record-breaking sprint around the entirety of the Isle of Man TT circuit at a truly wild pace. Higgins commentary, meanwhile, simply adds to the experience of hurtling across the landscape. Subaru has also put together a second video, highlighting the WRX STI that was used in the lap.
You can view both of those videos, as well as a short press release from Subaru, below. Scroll down and take a look.

Autoblog goes on an African safari, Subaru-Style

... And Learns To Love The Ostrich
Subaru may be the ostrich of the Japanese auto industry.
When one thinks of a safari, they naturally draw pictures in their mind's eye of wild animals, like lions, elephants and giraffes. I'm no different, and it was with visions of long telephoto lenses over vast runes and dunes that I embarked on a 19-hour plane ride from Phoenix, Arizona to Plettenberg Bay in South Africa, camera gear in tow.

Toyota tops Consumer Reports best, worst used car values

Tue, 18 Mar 2014

We often mock Toyota for building boring, soulless cars, but a new study by Consumer Reports suggests that regardless of whether that's true, the company has some of the best used cars on the market. In its report on used cars from 2004-2013, the Japanese automaker had 11 vehicles among its brands on the list - more than any other automaker.
CR breaks the list down by cost and vehicle size, and Toyota has at least one entry at every price point and in nearly every segment. To score a recommendation, a vehicle had to perform well in the magazine's initial tests and score above-average reliability results. It also tried to only suggest cars with electronic stability control. Of the 28 recommended vehicles, Honda/Acura had the second most mentions at six, and Ford, Hyundai and Subaru managed two each.
The Detroit brands also made it to the list, but not in a positive way. Consumer Reports compiled a list of 22 vehicles it wouldn't recommend because "they have multiple years of much-worse-than-average overall reliability." General Motors had the most unrecommended models on the list at six, but Chrysler and Ford weren't far behind, with five cars each from their brands not making the grade. The full list of recommendations is available on CR's website.
