2006 Subaru Impreza Wrx Sti Sedan 4-door 2.5l, Aspen White on 2040-cars
Syracuse, Utah, United States
This car was purchased from Nate Wade Subaru in Salt Lake City in 2006. I am the original owner. Vehicle was a semi daily driver for about 2 years. It was a typical stage 2 car, Cobb Accessport, TBE, suspension goodies etc. During that time, the car was driven in the snow less than 5 times. Oil was changed every 3k miles. Car did not see any form of racing or abusive driving
2008, car underwent a fairly major facelift. Rallysportdirect helped plan the build of the car as well as source all after market parts. Solid Autoworks, a great shop in Salt Lake, with a sterling reputation completed installation of all parts. They have also overseen all maintenance during the life of the car, as well as a recent compression leak-down test. Local body shop, Kindig It Design, installed body pieces and completely prepped and repainted the exterior of the car. Fitment of after market body pieces are OEM quality. Factory paint code was used, but with a much thicker higher quality paint. No painting in engine bay or interior of car. This body shop is known for their award winning SEMA cars Christian from Cobb tuning layed down base tune to use during proper motor break in period. With use of CobbAccessport EM, a few different maps were made to use. John Shafer of Akuma Motorsports, who was with Cobb tuning at the time, was the last person to tune the car. With race gas and meth, the car made 520 awhp at 4300 feet above sea level, on a mustang dyno. The only thing holding the car back was the fuel system. At this point, I was pretty much done chasing power and dumping money into the car. I had the option to upgrade the fuel system, but the car already had plenty of power and would forever be beyond my driving capabilities. The car has remained unchanged over the last ~4 years. Since the big build, it has never seen snow. It has remained garaged and covered, sometimes for long periods of time. Care was taken to preserve integrity of fluids during periods of sitting in the garage. All regular maintenance has been kept up with and performed at professional shop, Solid Auto. Vehicle I am selling this car because I lost the desire and interest in modified cars a few years ago. The car has sentimental value and I debated on parting with it for awhile. I have a small family now and I could also put some of the money from the sale of it towards future education. Finding it a good home, with somebody who would really enjoy it would be great. Hopefully someone will appreciate the quality of the parts used and the care taken to maintain it. If you are familiar with modified imports and after market parts and modifications, you will know that this is a very well put together build. No corners were cut and nothing was overlooked. The mindset was to buy nice, not twice. I am listing it at a price that is honestly considered to be very low, even when you consider that modifications do not add that much to resale value. The fact of the matter is that this is a $100,000 STi. Cost of the motor alone was $14k. That's not something I like to flaunt or even share with my closest friends. But after the cost of all the parts, professional installation, multiple tuning sessions on the dyno and the cost of the bodywork and paint job, that is an honest assessment. $30,000 is a straight up steal, especially when you can have a magazine cover car, for less than the price of a new WRX. This car is ready to be very competitive in road racing events, if you don't mind getting such a pretty car dirty. It also turns a lot of heads rolling into any car meet. Someone could do very well with it at car shows. And if nothing else, it is a blast to just take out for a drive. The car drives like it's on rails and pulls like a freight train. You can embarrass plenty of domestic V8 owners and lots of exotic import owners, should you feel so inclined. A little food for thought, the car will easily surpass 700 hp at sea levels. The super-sized Atlas isn't the three-row VW should build
Fri, Dec 2 2016In the late '50s and early '60s the Volkswagen Beetle wasn't ubiquitous in my hometown of Lincoln, Nebraska, but it came pretty damn close. Fords and Chevys dominated, but beyond the occasional MG, Triumph, or Renault the import scene was essentially a VW scene. When my folks finally pulled the trigger on a second car they bought a Beetle, and that shopping process was my first exposure to a Volkswagen showroom. For our family VW love wasn't a cult, but our '66 model spoke – as did all Volkswagens and most imports at the time – of a return to common sense in your transportation choice. As VW's own marketing so wonderfully communicated, you didn't need big fins or annual model changes to go grab that carton of milk. Or, for that matter, to grab a week's worth of family holiday. In the wretched excess that was most of Motown at the time, the Beetle, Combi, Squareback, and even Karmann Ghia spoke to a minimal – but never plain – take on transportation as personal expression. Fifty years after that initial Beetle exposure, and as a fan of imports for what I believe to be all of the right reasons, the introduction of Volkswagen's Atlas to the world market is akin to a sociological gut punch. How is it that a brand whose modus operandi was to be the anti-Detroit could find itself warmly embracing Detroit and the excess it has historically embodied? Don't tell me it's because VW's Americanization of the Passat is going so well. To be fair, the domestic do-over of import brands didn't begin with the new Atlas crossover. Imports have been growing fat almost as long as Americans have, and it's a global trend. An early 911 is a veritable wisp when compared to its current counterpart, which constitutes – coincidentally – a 50-year gestation. In comparing today's BMW 3 Series to its' '77 predecessor, I see a 5 Series footprint. And how did four adults go to lunch in the early 3 Series? It is so much smaller than what we've become accustomed to today; the current 2 Series is more substantial. My empty-nester-view of three-row crossovers is true for most shoppers: If you need three rows of passenger capacity no more than two or three times a year – and most don't – rent it forgawdsake. If you do need the space more often, consider a minivan, which goes about its three-row mission with far more utility (and humility) than any SUV.
2018 Subaru Ascent three-row crossover SUV spotted showing off its shape
Tue, Mar 21 2017These images give us our best look so far at the Subaru Ascent, a new-for-2018 three-row crossover to fill the hole in Subaru's product lineup since the unloved Tribeca was discontinued after 2014. This prototype is lightly coated in a body-hugging camouflage wrap and appears to take its design from the Highlander-on-steroids Viziv-7 Concept that debuted at November's Los Angeles Auto Show. An exec from Subaru's parent company said at the time that "the next three-row from Subaru will be the biggest Subaru vehicle ever." That's for sure: The wheelbase is 117.7 inches and the overall vehicle measures 204.7 inches - a bit longer than a Chevy Tahoe. Subaru may well debut the production Ascent at the New York Auto Show in April. In the meantime, check out the spy shots above. This content is hosted by a third party. Subaru builds 3 millionth car in America
Mon, Aug 1 2016Subaru announced August 1 that its Indiana factory completed the 3 millionth American-built Subaru, a Lapis Blue Pearl Outback. The company reached the milestone July 28. Subaru has been building cars at its factory in Lafayette, IN, since 1989. The factory opened as a joint venture with Isuzu, but Subaru eventually took full ownership. Subaru first built North American Legacy sedans and wagons at the factory, followed by the Outback, Baja, and Tribeca. Subaru plans to upgrade the Indiana facility to handle increased demand. The company will double capacity from 218,000 units to 436,000 by March 2019. Subaru will add Impreza production toward the end of the year, and begin production of a three-row crossover in 2018.
