Walk around video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzITCDCh0IQ

I bought this car on my R&R from Afghanistan and have only driven it a handful of times since getting back for good in August.  My wife was driving it on the weekends while I was gone. My wife and I are having a baby and unfortunately my dream car needs to go.

The car looks very close to factory from the outside with some bolt on performance and handling improvements.  I added a WRX trunk, 2007 STi limited black Brembos and 2007 Limited interior in an attempt to tone down the features of a stock STi.   All limited parts were removed from the same donor vehicle #133/800.  There are zero door dings or scratches on the car.  It has never seen rain, snow, salt, tar, pigeon crap, or anything that wouldn't allow you to eat off the car.  Also, the car was just professionally detailed with a clay bar and a fresh coat of wax so it looks amazing.

The car was never a daily driver and more of a weekend cruising car.  The car has been very well maintained throughout its life and garage kept but the car is not 100% perfect.  I included a small list below of any imperfections with the car.  That’s about enough as I could go on and on about this car but I will stop here.  Feel free to email or text me with any questions.

Keep in mind this is a private party sale with no sales tax or BS transfer fees you would get with a dealership on top of their retail price.

The bad

Trunk was completely filled with custom subwoofer enclosure so trunk carpet and spare tire are gone.  The previous owner had a car stereo shop and used this vehicle as advertisement.  Easy items to pick up on Nasioc or eBay but I never cared for it.

There is minor brake dust build up on wheels.

Heated seats won’t work until they are wired up. The guy that parted out the limited STi #133/800 cut all harnesses to make removing parts faster. They can be wired without Subaru harness if you know what you’re doing.

We're going to drive Subarus through Patagonia

Mon, Feb 8 2016

Later this month, Chris McGraw and I are going on an adventure. We're heading to South America with Subaru to drive cars through the wilderness, including the gorgeous landscape of Patagonia. It'll sort of be like that Top Gear episode, just without, you know, all the bad stuff (we hope). Since this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, we're doing a huge blowout of coverage, and we want to bring you along for the ride. From February 16-21, we'll be posting video updates and a ton of social media coverage, so be sure to watch the Autoblog site as well as our YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter feeds for all of the latest sights and sounds from our amazing trip. Of course, we'll have a big feature story wrapping the whole experience up, after we get back and shake off some of the jet lag. We're stoked, and we hope you're just as excited to virtually come along for the ride. Stay tuned.

2015 Subaru Outback

Wed, 22 Oct 2014

Realistically, many enthusiasts give horrible, horrible car buying advice. They will recommend something bizarre, inappropriately high performance, compromised or utterly impractical for a given consumer's needs, and they'll almost never recommend something that makes sense. And then they'll come up with 3.7 million reasons why the leading vehicle someone is thinking about is a bad choice.
Or maybe that's just what I do.
Regardless, if you poke, prod, bother or just get us drunk enough, eventually you'll begin getting honest feedback. And more than likely, we'll tell you, in hushed tones, about the many virtues of very, very boring cars. We'll talk about why the Toyota Camry is actually a pretty decent purchase or we'll explain how spacious and feature laden the Nissan Versa is.

Should Subaru stay niche or go mainstream? [w/poll]

Sun, 11 Aug 2013

Out of all the automakers doing business in the US, Subaru is the one that has carved out the most interesting niche for itself in the minds and lifestyles of buyers. Outdoorsy types, dog lovers and active families alike flock to Subaru's rugged nature and all-wheel-drive utility - and they're fiercely loyal, which is probably why Subaru has become a success story.
But Subaru is still a relatively small player in the US market, and with recent profits surging, parent company Fuji Heavy Industries is facing a dilemma: continue on with the successful niche market Subaru has carved out for itself, or attempt to go mainstream and give big players like Nissan and Toyota a run for their money. According to Carscoop, Japan Times and Bloomberg News are reporting that Fuji Heavy is beginning discussions this month to determine which direction Subaru will take.
