2005 Subaru STI 110,000 miles some modifications. Extremely reliable daily driver.
Modifications Short throw shifter Cold Air intake (way up into front bumper) BOV - Blow of valve Brand new 3" catback exhaust system DVD - Navigation - IPOD control system (DVD works while driving) Amp / crossovers / Sub in the trunk Summer and winter tires. Both have a season in them maybe more depending on how many miles you put on. Tinted windows comes with 9 oil filters. (I don't live near a dealer so I just bought a case.) I just changed the oil today. Oh and I added an always on outlet plug in the trunk. I used it for charging my cellphone while camping during an all weekend volleyball tournament. Features 2.5 Litre turbo 300+ HP stock (it's not stock but I have never had it on a DYNO) 6 speed manual transmission DCCD - Driver Controlled Center Differential (adjustable on the fly the power distribution between the front and rear) IC Spray button - Reservoir in trunk holds water to spray onto the intercooler in the engine compartment helps lower air temperature of intake air. Engine and transmission are better and stronger than the ones that come in the WRX. Different Block, Turbo, exhaust, trans, it is a big step up from a WRX. BBS wheels Brembo brakes (front are 4 piston calipers). 4 wheel disc brakes. Information Just changed the oil. Just installed new 3" catback (nothing high dollar but works great and sounds great) shortly after buying it I had a leak on one of the drive shaft seals. I replaced it and replaced the transmission fluid with full synthetic at that time. Interior is like new. The two tone rally blue is beautiful. Not smoked in no stains or burns. My sweet wife just steam cleaned the heck out it. Could use some time with some bug and tar remover and a lot of elbow work on the outside. The Story I bought this car on ebay two years ago from Boston MA. Flew out and drove it home. Have had a ton of fun driving it for two years. Put 30,000 + miles on it. Made several road trips with it. I Love this car. In the spring I bought a Bronco that I am working on. I have decided to sell the car and the proceeds will complete my Bronco. Then I will pocket the payments I would have made on the Subie and save up for my next toy.. most likely another Subie. I am going to list it on ebay as well as locally so it may end early. I am not willing to take low offers if I have to I will just keep it and love it some more. But if you want to make an offer I am open to hear it. I did track it once. It was so much fun. But I spent all day by the time I drove up and back and track time was a hundred bucks so I never did it again. But glad I did once. Currently has snow tires installed as the summer tires are useless in the snow... even a little of it. Summer tires come with it. The winter ones however are amazing in the snow. The car does have one flaw! The volume up button does not work on the radio. It was like that when I bought it. SO instead of trying to replace a really expensive in dash system....... I bought a remote. Works like a charm. When I bought the car I promptly took out the Sub woofer (it takes up most of the trunk) no idea how to set it up but it is there. Great car. Super fun to drive. Just time for me to change toys and save a little money for the next next one.. lol Happy to answer any questions. The car is located in 14743 if you want to come check it out before bidding just let me know. Thanks for checking it out. Oh yeah no reserve. What ever happens happens. I started it at my bare minimum. |

This or That: 2005 Dodge Ram SRT-10 vs. 2005 Subaru WRX STI [w/poll]
Thu, May 7 2015Some cars, due to ultimate desirability, particular rareness, or spectacular performance/prestige eventually become collectible. It's darn near impossible to know which ones will make it into the rarefied stratosphere of collectibility – why is a late 1960s AMC AMX so affordable these days, whereas prices for late '70s Pontiac Trans Ams are soaring? – but there are some useful indicators to keep tabs on. We're not exactly experts on investing, but we do know cars. As such, we've decided to take our non-expertise on one hand, combine it in the other with our knowledge of all things automotive, wad it up, throw it out and ask for your forgiveness. Or something like that. I've challenged Senior Editor Seyth Miersma to choose a car he thinks will become a future collector's item that's not more than 10 years old, and for no more than $25,000. I've done the same, and we vigorously argued for and against each other's picks. I feel good about my choice, but I don't have the best track record in these contests (I've lost three times, won twice, but they've all been pretty close), so, while I'm not going to beg (please vote for me!), I do hope you find my argument convincing. But first, let's hear from Seyth: Miersma: Ten-years old or newer makes this challenging. At that age most vehicles feel like a plain old used car to me, few hit the "classic" button. But the Subaru WRX STI has always been a special car, and the 2005 cutoff year proves to be very attractive for the parameters of our contest. It's rare; with fewer than 5,000 STI models sold that model year. It's probably the best looking WRX STI ever sold in America; narrowly avoiding the dreadful "horse collar" front fascia. And it's got one of the more die-hard car-geek followings out there. For $25,000, you can also still find examples that have reasonable miles, are in good condition, and haven't all been molested by grown-up Initial D wannabes. With the street racers hacking up collectable examples every day, I like my odds for steep appreciation by way of conservation. I couldn't agree more. It really is difficult to predict what cars will catch the eye of collectors, and the WRX STI seems like a pretty good choice. But I think mine is even better, and I can't let him know that I'd love to park just such an STI in my very own garage. And so goes my argument: Korzeniewski: I like your choice as a driver, Seyth. I'm less convinced of its status as a sure-fire collectible.
Autoblog goes on an African safari, Subaru-Style
Fri, 21 Jun 2013... And Learns To Love The Ostrich
Subaru may be the ostrich of the Japanese auto industry.
When one thinks of a safari, they naturally draw pictures in their mind's eye of wild animals, like lions, elephants and giraffes. I'm no different, and it was with visions of long telephoto lenses over vast runes and dunes that I embarked on a 19-hour plane ride from Phoenix, Arizona to Plettenberg Bay in South Africa, camera gear in tow.
Subaru previews Viziv Performance Concept and 2 tuned STIs for Tokyo
Mon, Sep 25 2017Subaru will be rolling deep at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show next month. The Japanese automaker has announced a number of different models that it will bring to the show, including three concepts, and limited editions of two different STI models. At the top of the list, teased above, is the Subaru Viziv Performance Concept. This car sounds like it could be a sneak preview of a next-generation WRX, as Subaru describes it as a sport sedan that combines "enjoyment and peace of mind." The very nature of the model encourages active engagement, but Viziv Performance uses Subaru's EyeSight tech to provide advanced driver assistance. The teaser images don't give us much else to go on, but we'll keep our ear to the ground in case Subaru drops any more information ahead of the show on Oct. 25. View 2 Photos Also coming to Tokyo will be to Japan-only limited edition versions of two STI models. The first is the Subaru S208, based on the WRX STI. A successor to the S207, the S208 is limited to just 450 units. It's quicker and more powerful than the S207, and features a carbon fiber roof to help lower the center of gravity. Engine output isn't given, but the S207 made 323 horsepower and 318 pound-feet of torque. The S208 also has an upgraded suspension and exclusive interior and exterior styling upgrades. View 5 Photos The other special edition is the Subaru BRZ STI Sport. It doesn't get more power, but Subaru did work to improve ride and handling. The BRZ STI Sport has a stiffer body and a specially tuned suspension to improve dynamic performance. It also gets its own interior and exterior touches, and a special Cool Grey Khaki paint color. Like the S208, it will be available only through lottery, but will be even more exclusive, at just 100 units. View 4 Photos Subaru is bringing two yellow concepts to the show, the XV Fun Adventure Concept and the Impreza Future Sport Concept. The XV Fun Adventure gets off-road tires and updated body cladding. The Impreza Future Sport gets revised front and rear bumpers, a low center of gravity, and a central exhaust. Last, and probably least, Subaru will display the Outback Limited Smart Edition, with a few design touches like an exclusive grille and wheels, microfiber seats, plus navigation and a Harman/Kardon sound system.
