2005 Subaru Impreza Wrx Sedan 4-door 2.0l on 2040-cars
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, United States
Car runs and drives well, but it is used. The wheels are scuffed up but are stock and work fine. There is light hail damage to the hood and trunklid and a couple spots on the roof. Not major. When the car was parked on the street, someone's bumper scraped the passenger side leaving a couple black / brown marks and putting a ripple in the passenger front door. The front rotors could probably use replacing as there is some shaking when breaking at a high speed. The car is essentially dead stock. The only modifications done are tinted windows, I replaced the fuel pump with a wahlboro at about 100k miles and relocated the fuel filter to the engine bay like the 2004 model. Less expensive fuel filters and ALOT easier to change. I also added an Auxiliary input to the stock radio. It's a Premium edition car with the upgraded sound system and 6 disc in-dash changer, sunroof and heated seats. The drivers seat heater doesn't work currently, although the light comes on so it may be a bad connection but I just never looked at it. The fog lights don't work either, although I don't think they are hooked up and I've never needed them.
Clutch was replaced at about 75000 miles and should probably be done in the next 6 months or so. I run exclusively Mobile1 motor oil and trans and rear differential fluid. Oil is done every 4000 miles, diff fluids were done at 100k. They probably could be done again, but still look clean and new. Front axles and boots were replaced by the dealer when I bought it. At some point before I got the car, I'm positive the front bumper was replaced. I had the front end inspected and there is nothing bent, broken or damaged at all, so I'm guessing someone just hit a curb or something small and had to replace the bumper. Motor doesn't smoke, pulls well, drives dead straight and runs well as does the transmission. Car is very tight, has original WRX floormats. Tires have about 15k miles on them or so. The mild body work / paint would cost about $1200 to have done right. Another $300 for a clutch (if you do it yourself). $100 for front rotors (if you do it yourself). If I were buying it, I'd also want some newer wheels, but that's up to you. This car has served me very well and will continue to serve the next owner well. |

Subaru WRX Concept hints at big performance, offers few facts
Thu, 28 Mar 2013
We're looking at a design statement only at this point.
Subaru has dropped the curtain on its truly attractive WRX Concept and, as previewed a few days ago, we're fast fans of the wide, low, muscular sedan. The concept car looks great, but there was a distinct lack of information being offered about the next-generation WRX that is sure to follow this concept - we're looking at a design statement only at this point.
Subaru Forester, Legacy and Outback earn IIHS Top Safety Pick+ ratings
Thu, 26 Dec 2013The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety announced its more rigorous standards for the Top Safety Pick+ crash test rating back in September, and has recently called out some new models that have attained this highest rating. Last year, the TSP+ category was created for vehicles passing the then-new small overlap crash test; this year the top award has been amended to include crash prevention technology.
Thanks to its EyeSight technology, the Subaru Legacy, Outback and Forester are among just 22 vehicles to have been named a 2014 TSP+ by the IIHS. Without this technology, all three vehicles - and the Impreza and XV Crosstrek - were still named a Top Safety Pick (without the +).
To test the crash prevention technology, the IIHS uses two tests (one at 12 miles per hour and one at 25 mph) to see how well the systems do to lessen the severity of an impact. or prevent an impact altogether. Vehicles are then given a rating from Superior (best), Advanced or Basic, and cars that do not offer forward collision warning or auto braking are not given a rating in this category. To be named a TSP+, a car must achieve at least a Basic score for crash prevention, but all three Subaru models earned a perfect score to receive a Superior rating. Cosworth teases upgrades for Subaru BRZ
Mon, 19 May 2014Subaru may or may not produce an STI version of the BRZ. Things seem to go back and forth on the subject. But Subaru Tecnica International isn't the only company with a history of tuning Subies. So does Cosworth, and now the British racing firm appears to be turning its attention to the BRZ and its Toyota- and Scion-badged siblings.
For those unacquainted, Cosworth is more than your average tuning company. It's a racing firm first and foremost, having made F1 engines under its own name as well as Ford's (chief among them the all-conquering DFV 3.0-liter V8 of 1960s and 70s fame), not to mention engines for Indy, rally and even high-performance, road-going versions of the Ford Sierra, Chevy Vega and Mercedes 190E. The list goes on and on, but you get the point.
Now withdrawing from Formula One, Cosworth is focusing its attention on tuning road cars again with the launch of the Cosworth Power Package line, the first of which will focus on the Toyota GT86 (aka Scion FR-S) and Subaru BRZ. We don't know just yet what will be included in the packaged dubbed FA-20, but from the video teaser below, it seems there'll be upgrades to the exhaust, suspension, aero and - if we're lucky - maybe a super- or turbocharger for the 2.0-liter flat-four engine. We'll have to wait and see, but we get the feeling that with Cosworth on the job, it'll be worth the wait. Check out the minute-long video below in the meantime.
